So, I currently own Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Should I invest in and purchase The Criterion Channel? Yes or no? If I do get The Criterion Channel, what movies should I watch?

The Rock

I don't know. The whole fucking catalogue is listed on some sublebbin. A week ago I would've told you to watch Blood Simple before they took it down at the end of April.
Just make sure you can actually play it.

>Yes or no?
or

A guy at my church's film group tonight recommended getting the criterion channel

>So I currently own Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
BLACKED is probably more your speed, OP

wait, what? the criterion channel takes down movies?
fucking dropped, it was barely interesting if they had a permanent catalogue
I usually mark movies to watch later, imagine my list getting thinner weekly

this
kys op

bullshit. Christians haven't been able to appreciate art since the mid 19th century

>I own Netflix
Wow, you must be rich!

Monthly, maybe. Aforementioned r*ddit list has impending expiry dates on the spreadsheet. Just remember that Criterion is run by sheenies and they won't dump their catalogue on it since that'd cost too many shekels in server space.
There's still some decent entry-level kino. I'd say sub for 2-3 months and check back after a year to see where things are at.

i was just on it and Blood Simple is still there

the Criterion stuff is permanent since they own it, covers about ~80% of their disc products since they don't always have the digital rights to the films on disc, but they also license films from other companies that are limited (iirc they said they get them for a minimum 90 days)

We're mainliners, not evangelicals, so we can watch what we want

quit spewing bullshit, you clueless bastard

There's 1000 or so movies on there most notably the entire catalogs of Kurosawa, Yang, Tarkovsky, Ozu, Lynch, Bergman, Fellini, Chaplin, Fassbinder, Frampton, Kobayashi

If there are any other directors you are interested in let me know

OK, I got an invite because I used to have filmstruck, so I might check it out on a slow kino saturday

So far I watched and enjoyed
>Stray Dog
>Onibaba
>So Dark the Night

>the entire catalogs
More like whichever 2 or 3 of their films most commonly appear in college freshman film classes

>If there are any other directors you are interested in let me know
How about you post some good ones

No literally every movie made by them

What are some of your favorite directors or directors you are interested in are on there I'll let you know if their movies are on their

>made by them
this is your average Yea Forums poster

Yes every movie they directed is on the Criterion Channel

I'm waiting...

>their fellini collection doesn't have anything later than Amarcord (which is the real pleb filter as opposed to pseud shit)

I like Todd Haynes and Kelly Reichardt.

You're right I saw that they have the ship sails on (one of my favorites) and thought they had more past amarcord

Why not just pirate the whole collection, then delete everything but mad mad mad mad world and Koyaanisqatsi?

They sent out an email and are making engraved steel membership cards if you have maintained a charter subscription.

More subtle than most I've seen.

There's like a dozen Godzilla flicks on there

Just use a private tracker and download everything in near-perfect encodes, Jesus Christ man

>paying for movies
This place is full of normalfags, what a disgusting thread.

most of their movies aren't funny

I enjoy watching the supplementary interviews and 10 dollars a month is worth it in my mind

can confirm, blood simple is still there. he's full of shit

CyberFlixTV >>>>>>

I unsubbed when I found out chomecast doesn't work. I loved the double features and short + movie Tuesdays on filmstruck so I'll definitely come back if they get it going.

I'm happy with Prime and Shudder

They have been doing that since it launched

by get it going I meant chromecast

They have other strange problems. I have dual monitors and I can only watch when they are both turned on, if I turn the second monitor off it will say I can not watch on an external monitor

If you're gonna pay for two drop Shitflix.

How is shudder? is it mainly newer movies?

A good mix of new, old and obscure. I like the live channels and it's worth the $5 dollars just for the Joe Bob marathons.

Thanks, i'll check it out

Impossible to get invites

Name 5 good movies out of the thousands on Netflix

get good kid

>Todd Haynes and Kelly Reichardt are better than Kurosawa, Tarkovsky, Lynch, Ozu, etc.

o i am laffin

Watch Happy Together.

Seems pretty worth it to me.

Normalfagging is pirating.

>showa only
>includes garbage like terror of mechgodzilla
>just Rodan on the side
I know half of them are kino but they should take it as far as they can.

nigga just torrent shit.

They have Jet fucking Jaguar as the cover for Godzilla vs. Megalon. Cut them some slack, they know their audience.

torrent this nerd

torrent this loser

torrent this freakazoid

torrent this dweeb

Repo Man

The criterion supplements are worth 10 a month. I pay for criterion channel and I'm on SC and Karagara

patrician choice

Of course not. Film is run by the Jews. That's why the christians adopted video games, which aren't art.

repo this nerd

watch Fear and Loathing with commentary and then commit sudoku immediately

This guy gets it.

fpbp

I'm broke asf right now and torrent + Plex so I can watch at my couch or in my room, but if I wasn't poor I'd prefer to use the service. It's easier, they have films I probably wouldn't discover otherwise, the host content (like Bill Hader talking about his film picks and why) is a nice and unique touch to introduce the audience, and the shorts+full length features are a very nice viewer experience. They just offer for a few dollars what would take me forever and be a pain to set up at home. It's honestly a service I'm all for.

Why, as someone who admittedly pays money for Netflix, a service that downsizes its library of licensed films every single month, would you go on a board designated for the discussion of kino and ask if you should subscribe to a Criterion service that's offered at a lower price?

Tfw I am a Charter member of Criterion Channel and am getting a free engraved card

I put John Waynes name on it for respect for my dead homie, I love you bro

There's literally nothing good on prime except Chuck
It's worse than the walmart bargain bin.
If they gave these movies away for free no one would watch them
I cancelled prime long ago.

Best post of the week
