Thats an incredibly generous breakdown of events. You frame it as if Dany is a bystander to events that happen in the beginning of the season before finally intervening and making everything right. God, are the writers aware of how badly they fucked the plot by making the White Walker invasion a joke? Because of how they resolved it, literally everything would have been better if Dany had ignored the Night King and burned down King's landing with her three dragons from the get-go.

The North could have held the line at the Wall, because the Night King was only able to break through using Viserion, who only fell into his hands because Dany went north to rescue Jon, who went north to capture a Wight, just to bring evidence to convince Cersei to join them, which Cersei didn't even do, all to fight a threat that was destroyed in a single night.

I like Dany for much of the same reasons that Tyrion does, she's a girl with that blind and naive but still alluring idealism of youth, the difference being that while in real life youth's idealism is just silly because they have no knowledge of the world and no power, here we have someone who's idealistic and also possesses the power to actually change everything, with some steering from wiser minds of course; people now seem to be dividing themselves in 2 opposite camps, they either blindly love her because "YASS KWEEN!" or just hate her, I feel more a sense of disappointment and melancholy instead, thinking of what could have been, she's one of the most interesting and tragic characters left in the show now.
