You can get a top secret clearance and job training which can give you 6 figure civilian work at companies like Boeing and Lockheed after you get out. You also get to meet a lot of pretty cool people and work out a lot.

I love every day, but it can suck too depending on what size cutter you are. I actually wanted Kodiak or Polar Star but they let me pick between a handful of small boat stations in Florida and California because I know Spanish. I think only about 5% of the CG is Hispanic so it's a very valuable skill to have. We don't have the luxuries of the Air Force but the job satisfaction and how we all treat each other is the best feeling in the world. Also many boat stations don't have barracks so everyone there gets BAH. Becoming a BM is the best thing that's ever happened to me.

You only need to serve for 3 years on active duty to get public schooling 100% paid for, and if a private school participates in the yellow ribbon program, then that school is also paid for assuming the amount they contribute covers everything.

It really is the best deal tbqh. Don't be infantry or any kind of combat job, learn a marketable skill, three years later you walk out with school paid for, a DoD security clearance, and aren't as big of a NEET as you were when you joined.

Can’t speak for the others but Navy boot camp was only hard for me for about the first week because I was a piece of shit with no discipline so waking up and getting yelled at and being treated like shit was hard for me. I was in shape so the PT was an absolute joke but others found it really difficult. There were still plenty of shitheads that couldn’t hack it and got sent back or booted though. This was 2006 so it’s probably even easier now.

Most people drop even though they are passed the physical test to qualify. Be assured, they won't let you try if you barely pass the requirements.

Used my GI bill to go to college for free, got my undergrad without paying a cent and got paid to live so I didn't have to work the entire time. Pretty much everyone that goes Special Forces spends time in the conventional Army or Ranger Regiment. Most if not all officers that go SF are ranger tabbed. SF are head and shoulders above line Marine Units and are more comparable to the Marine Raiders.

The Army is a much larger organization with a more diverse mission set than the Marine Corps. The Army has units specializing in Airborne, Air Assault, Jungle, Mountain, and other types of warfare, whereas Marine divisions are typically more generalized. Some Army units are better than others, but it's a much larger organization than the Marine Corps; the 82nd, 101st, 10th Mountain, and 25th ID are cumulatively as large as the Marine Corps and comparable in terms of training and experience as line units.

BUDS has a washout rate of over 70%, and any one of those washouts is still a very physically fit individual.

And that was just the secondary TO. My primary TO punched me square in the back very hard one time for not saluting the picture as we walked into the mess hall. The TO of my sister flight brought his girls into our shower area and told them to laugh at our dicks, but he got fired and arrested for that.

There might be schools that are more accommodating to veterans, but that is the present status-quo nationally for most universities.
