Seriously... Why is Captain America and Ironman bigger than Superman? ...

sooberman :D

snyder's approach worked for the kind of story watchmen was, putting him in charge of the whole dc universe was sheer folly

They aren't
/thread
>muh movies
Haha

zack snyder

They developed some character and story for each

Superman is a garbage character. Always has been. You can't make an interesting story about a man who can't be harmed and is the strongest man in the universe.

They gave him to Zack Snyder for 5 fuckin years.

i like him in the reeve-style suit

because superman is a stupid character
utterly uncompelling

>Seriously... Why is Captain America and Ironman bigger than Superman? ...
Because Superman is too powerful to be interesting.

It isn't, fuck even Aquaman is more popular

He's never been an interesting. He can only get killed by one specific thing.

That's terrible.

>superman is totally overpowered
>but batman would whoop his ass

Superman is only interesting as the villain

Make an injustice movie already without any kind of time travel alternate dimension bullshit where superman is a dictatorial figure

These

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahhaahahhahaahha.

He doesn't even have to be the villain per se. He's roughly as heroic as Batman is in The Dark Knight Returns, but playing the role of an antagonist made sense within that story.

A mix of WB handling the property wrong and the general attitude towards Superman changing since the early 90's.
Plebs think that Supes is all powerful, no personality and Batman is super interesting. They don't read good Superman stories and they don't take time to care about the character. They're happy to just watch Batman who has more plot armour than most capes.
The mismanagement from WB is that Superman has only had good comics in the last 30 years, no good TV shows, no good movies, no good cartoons.

TL;DR SUPES BAD BATMAN GOOD DURR HURR

zack snyder is a shit writer and director.
everything he touches turns to shit

The movies were better made.

MoS and BvS are proof that you can. He might be physically indestructible but he was the most emotionally vulnerable superhero character.

Iron Man and Captain America are ridiculously overpowered and never have to face any real internal conflict. Like in Iron Man 2, Tony is supposed to atone for his father's sins, then midway into the movie they reveal his father did nothing wrong and so the film became another power fantasy.

They did ?

>every comic book is about punching something.
Is this a marvel comic meme or manga meme?

They gave the reigns of the franchise to an unironic airhead edgelord. Since he had an eye for great visuals people assumed there was more to him but he really was a dunce. I also remain unconvinced that he doesn't ruin a team dynamic just by existing. This is why he's extremely nerfed from his normal power level in the DCAU.

Tony Stark's conflict is that he's a rampant alcoholic. Iron Man is a boring character and Cap outside of war/against fascists is a watered down Superman trope.

The most surprising thing is that Marvel managed to hire enough snarky writers to make Tony Stark borderline passable as a character, while Warner Bros is still jumping on the constant rewrites train and using none of the great Superman stories.

>>every comic book is about punching something.
>Is this a marvel comic meme or manga meme?
It's a DC meme, Superman's usually been more popular with the old Marvel crowd. It's the kind of thing that people who liked Frank Miller's Batman got into the habit of repeating. People who read Batman usually aren't interested in Supes.

Serious superhero issues were tackled. The public just doesn't understand if it's not Avengers beating up someone.

Audiences are literally fucking retarded.

they aren't

Why? God/Jesus is the most popular character for the last 2000 years. Allah is a close second at 1400 years and is only growing in popularity.

superman's powers don't come from muscular bio mechanics. it doesn't matter whether he is a twig or a bodybuilder.

captain america is a human, and to some extent, his strength and ability will be proportional to his muscular size.

Imagine being Cavill, you're preparing for the role and you've been recommended some good Superman stories. You've read some Moore, you loved All-Star Superman and Morrison's Justice League, were mildly surprised at Garth Ennis writing him in Hitman and you even read Red Son because they forced you too.
Then you get the scripe in the mail, and you can just feel how bad it is. You're disappointed but the worst isn't there yet. The moves are being directed by Snyder. It's okay, it'll only last for one movie you think but it never ends. It literally never ends.

Can you imagine how much rage and disappointment you'd feel at that point? You're no longer fit to play Superman, you're only fit to play Superboy Prime and that movie's never, ever happening while you have what's left of your youth.

Superman is unkillable, so the entire point of his story is that the people around him are not, and he constantly lets them down.

People have no connection to Henry Cavill's Superman. When he died in BvS, no one cared.

>quantifying a film's quality with how many kiddies go and watch it
nuke this board

>What went wrong?
1) WB didn't have a Kevin Feige.
2) The first movie, MoS, had a lukewarm reception.
3) Because of 1 and 2, the execs interfered ALOT with the subsequent movies.

I personally didn't like Snyder's "vision" for the DCEU. I hated his choice for Skeletal-Woman and nuLex. I hated "Martha" and how they shoved the death of Supes in to BvS. But Snyder and his fans should have been able to see his complete "vision" (without WB mucking it up). With Snyder the DCEU would not have been as popular as MCU. And I personally would not have enjoyed it as much as I enjoy the MCU. But at least it would have been less of a clusterfuck than it is today.

Reminder that Marlels are just roided monkeys, especially hemsworth who fell back to 140 pounds within half a year.
If you want /fit/ler from the heart, then McAvoy is the right choice, because unlike Marvel blowup dolls he didn't skip any leg day.

Only brainlets think a Superman story can't be interesting. It's just that they're typically too complex for normies to care about.

This might be the funniest shit I have heard this week.
>Thor on the path to discover his inner self #32568

>manlet who clearly juiced for those movies
>6'whatever hemsworth ever being near 140
LOL

That is why you are making stories about Clark Kent, an American raised in rural US and the moral challenges he faces.

SOMEBODY SAAAAAVE MEEEEEEEEEEEEE

>all these mouseshills calling Superman boring because he is strong and invincible
Hypocrite scum, I bet you were screaming like monkeys during IW scene in wakanda.

The Snyder films drew from some of the best Superman stories though. There is some heavy Birthright influence in MOS, and nods to All Star and Secret Origin. BvS has a bit of Peace on Earth, and the obvious references to TDKR and Death of Superman (which I think they improved upon).

Tony's alcoholism has never been seriously addressed in the movie. They promised they would follow the Demon in a Bottle arc in IM2 and that ended up just being a single scene of Tony getting drunk for comedy. People love Iron Man because they want to be him, the snarky sarcastic billionaire genius with 1000 guns. They project themselves into him and then they start having fun.

Putting yourself into Snyder Superman's red shoes would be a miserable experience. These movies are exploring the angst of a living god but generally the audiences go see these films for fun, not to explore concepts of identity and moral duty.

Supeyman and Clark Cunt are boring characters

And DCEU Superman was killed by a fucking spear. Your point?

Yeah, and people fanboying over alien Jesus fighting crime in spandex are geniuses right?

That was for his final audition

Yes but nobody is going worship jewish hero = superman

Superman is and will always BORING

Found the retard

Hack Snyder

So superman is not “overpowered” but iron man and captain america are? Kys

I don't have a side in this debate, but it's honestly embarrassing to see how quickly thor's costume became sleeved when he stopped roiding. And how Captain America only dared show his forearms when he stopped roiding.

Attached: captain-america-infinity-war.jpg (1200x1200, 161K)

What chinese cartoon is this little girl from?

>What went wrong?

Snyder's grimdark bullshit doesn't work with a character like Superman, who is historically a cheerful and optimistic character in tone.

>Seriously... Why is Captain America and Ironman bigger than Superman? ...

Because the MCU handled Captain America and Iron Man better than the DCEU handled Superman. In any case, Iron Man is basically Marvel's version of Batman.

>Iron Man is basically Marvel's version of Batman.
Nah, he'll be forgotten in a decade. Batman, howerver, will be a part of modern culture forever.

haha how delusional are you?

>you now realize that the reason Thor was fat in Endgame was just to cover up Hemsworth's muscle mass loss from quitting roids

>Grimdark

Go back to redddit

X-men are already almost forgotten despite being in the tons of movies. Marvel characters aside Spiderman are just not iconic enough to be remembered.

Imagine being so butthurt about a movie that you feel the urge to type this fanfiction.

Don't son just sit down.

Superman basically ohk'd steppenwolf in justice league.
It's just bad.

>He can only get killed by one specific thing.
>Kryptonite, Magic, Red-Sun radiation, Doomsday and many other characters more powerful than him
>One

Typical retard. Thor is OP too but he really doesn't have a weakness.

>People have no connection to Henry Cavill's Superman. When he died in BvS, no one cared.

This. He should have been in more movies before they killed him, but once again Zack Snyder proved that he's a retard.

because superman is shit and only batman is kinotastic capeshit

>2014

Post a new pic. I wonder how much is the difference right now.

Henry deserves better that's for sure.

>being this stupid
Cry more faggot. No one cares about iron man except when it's played by RDJ who was nothing like the comic book version either

I liked it.

Attached: superman-2.webm (1280x534, 1.63M)

don't bother, she's too smart for you

Attached: 1484872978211.jpg (1280x720, 440K)

Iron Man's death isn't even talked about anymore. Nobody really cares. And now that RDJ is gone, what's also gone is the character's charisma.

He might not be male Brie Larson but they sure have similar levels of charisma

becuase zach snyder appealed to the overly intellectual man babies instead of going for the demographic the comic (esp. the big TWO) are actually geared towards.

i.e. 28 year old college graduates living at their parents like superman.
my 7 year old nephew fucking loves iron man, spider man, and wolverine.
the 28 year old likes the exploration of virtue in DC, and the parallels between gods and supermen.
my 7 year old nephew likes the cool armor, the youthful exuberance of peter parker and wolverine absolutly BEASTS ALL the bad dudes.

zach was making art, which is controversial, and appeals to people with some education behind them.

marvel was making blockbusters.
remember marvel was shit broke before selling off their IPs, then made iron man and thor etc... and boom! they making money, and so for fear of struggling with bankruptcy, marvel has been mainly about making movies that will turn a profit or try to. why they going for that chinese super hero in pase 3. also why they sold out to disney for more financial backing.

DC really didnt have to think about that becuase warner bros at the time had strong game with batman, smallville, louis and clark, and all those dc cartoons. dont get me wrong synder's movies are still good , still trying to grapple with understanding a few glaring choices. but zack decided to go artsy fartsy Kubrick, instead of going michael bay summer blockbuster.

he was also too stuck on the nolan style of dark and edgy, he or the studio was anyways. even the suicide squad had some of that dark and gritty. i dunno. i think dc work better in animation for some reason.

God

cavill has no charisma
he's a reference to superman but not more
just imagine if freddie marcury would play "Bohemian Superman"?
that would be ALL THE TIME'S EPIC
this is what real charisma can do

Welp, for 30 years DC was far ahead of Marvel...

Because WB rushed and did not include solo films, ww, gl, flash, cyborg, should have had separate films without cameos. A situation should arise that makes them team up, bats detective clues into recruiting the others.

Alternative would be a Batman/Supeman team up worlds finest with them working together or bats goes missing and supes wears his costume to insure gotham crooks/rouges are in check.

Food for thought guys. When MOS came out many hated it, now they have warmed up to it. If WB/AT&T is smart they will keep the synder fight scenes or action heavy role.

THIS. But I am zack's target audience.

Snyder is just the wrong creative force to be steering the DC movies. He grossly misunderstands the motivations for its central pillars, or if not, he willfully mischaracterizes them for the sake of his cynical world view. Snyder's work is filled with overt references to Randian objectivism, most notably in the dialogue between Clark and his parents. The very concept of objectivism is incompatible with the idea behind Superman, which at its heart is about a person using his supreme powers for purely altruistic ends. I genuinely don't think Snyder cares much for the characters beyond what he can use them for to spin his own narrative, not their motivations or their faults or any of the ways they've classically come to be defined. You can see this too in the recent flare up where he blithely disregards the notion that Batman should have a no-killing rule. That doesn't make sense to Snyder, even if it's meant to be a cornerstone of how the character functions in his archetypical space.

They really needed to give full creative direction for the DC films to Paul Dini and Bruce Timm. Hell, bring in Alex Ross and Mark Waid. There are people who understand the core of why these characters have had so much enduring appeal, and who could have provided a template for a modern interpretation of those characters that could have kept them vibrant and compelling.

What we got with the Snyder films is just not that. Clearly it appeals to a subset of the fandom, and I'm happy they enjoy his stuff, but personally speaking it feels like a shame that these films feel more like Elseworlds stories than something meant to categorically define these characters and the archetypes they represent.

Basically this. The movies are fantastic, but, they aren't what families want to see. They want to see quippy heroes being sarcastic and ironic about how silly it all is, with serious moments often undercut by a joke afterwards. The fanbase for these movies is there, which is why only JL was an actual failure (MoS would have been disappointing, but its expenses were already covered by product placement, meaning every dollar was profit).

I like the MCU, Deadpool, and so on well enough. I buy tickets. But I don't have the dvds. I can rewatch MoS, BvS, WW, and Aquaman, and always find some new detail I missed, and enjoy them over again.

Except this abortion of a costume. Thank God it never got worn.

Attached: 1530246598586.jpg (960x1200, 133K)

I like the MCU a lot, for many reasons, but this is probably true. Tony Stark and Iron-Man became popular both because the concept carries over into live-action really well *and* because RDJ basically IS Tony Stark right down to the actual sustance abuses in his real life. Now he is gone they will struggle to keep him relevant.

I honestly never expected that to happen. X-Men was always one of the comics I read as a kid. Then again, I also only read for Wolverine, and it looks like I'm not alone. Logan sits somewhere pretty high on that iconic scale, just not as high as Spidey, Batman and Superman. And again, Huge Jackedman was a large part of his live-action popularity.

Henry is a fucking brainlet that can barely act.

Superman hasn't been big in cinemas since forever. They hired Snyder because the last attempt was so awful nobody here even remembers it. If anything MoS was the start of something great.

As one of the manbabies (though I don't consider myself intellectual) I agree this is probably it. It's what Aquaman did 'right' if they just want to make blockbusters. It's a straight fowards, well made, visually stunning and flashy, adventure movie with a fun hero and pretty people everywhere. It's what Shazam did wrong because while it's a great superhero movie, and I loved it, it reminded everyone of the 90s hero films that never used to make all that much money, and the chinks can't relate to a white orphan living in a foster home who cares about other human beings.
