The Witcher is a polish series based in real life polish folklore. All the characters in the game are basically white. (As it's Poland)
Many of the actors they've chosen are non-white, I've already seen backlash going back like a year because of these decisions. It might be netflix "popular" because they like to push agendas and all, but it won't be a cultural phenomenon like GoT is/was.
The video game crowd will be the people they have to please to get their foot in the door and they've already failed with that. Some niche groups within gaming like diversity and all that jazz, but not main line RPG enthusiats, pretty much any game that's had it for the last few years has had major backlash.
Wolfenstein 2, Battlefield 5 and so on.

I feel like GoT sort of comes out of nowhere when it comes to popularity AS A SHOW (I am aware the book is a bestseller). Back in 2011 someone talk to me about this dark medieval fantasy show, I don't know about the novels, but I thought the idea/general concept is pretty interesting. Then the episode when Ned Stark gets beheaded happen and suddenly everyone talk about it and it becomes a huge cultural phenomenon that grows bigger and bigger.

I don't know if Netflix Witcher can live up to that, especially with the immediate comparison to GoT/LOTR/ whatever big fantasy series. I do like Henry Cavill so maybe I'll give at least some benefit of doubt.

When Jon takes the black in the end after killing Dany he will meet back up with ghost, but still it is pretty egregious that they sent him off like that. If only there wasn't an extremely long expensive zombie polar bear fight that nobody remembers. Then maybe we could've had the budget for more Ghost scenes.

I feel the first season is too short, while the second is too slow at the beginning and too rushed at the end. Kinda disappointed how the cast barely interacts with Dracula & the vampire generals except for the final battle.
At least the animation looks good and if we are getting more action cartoon, I am happy.

I was in the communities back then, we simply assumed the show would follow the books to the letter, so we took for granted that it would be good, we also believed the fat fuck would have written the books by 2016 like he promissed multiple times

Boy were we wrong, seasons up to 4 mostly followed the books on the important stuff, so it was good enough, but season 5 and onwards just made me wish i never touched those books in the first place, people who liked the books have been living in a constant state of disappointment for almost half a decade now.
