Both disclosures could have led to tremendous political difficulties and loss of life. His claim is likely pushing Dany to be Mad Queen.

If Jon were willing to listen to his advisors when it comes to keeping his worst impulses in check, like Dany should be, then he could do a solid job as ruler of something. God knows the dude genuinely has the very best intentions, he gave his life for humanity, came back, and was ready to do it all over again, but he can be just such a fucking moron sometimes.

Attacking KL with dragons and Dothraki warrior rapists would always result in a tremendous loss of innocent lives, that situation never changed, and Cersei just doubled down on that by bringing all those meatshields into the Red Keep. The answer to the Cersei problem is Arya, the professional ninja who's been praying/training for Cersei's death since season 1, and who can take her and Euron out with minimal collateral damage to the populace of KL. Varys knows all the secret entrances to Red Keep and KL, she could drop that bitch in a single night, war won.
