I think the whole idea with Dany is that she is evil but you see it through her eyes, so the audience is misled.
She caused as much bloodshed in Essos as anyone in Westeros, but she is written as heroic so people love her. It's total propaganda. Early on she never flinched at her brother getting killed or the Dothraki raping and pillaging for her because she's shown as sympathetic.
