I never actually watched the shitty series he wanted to start before apparently cancelling it after just the pilot episode.
Was he purposefully trying to make an unfunny dry parody series? except he thought he was funny and smooth?

So basically we take out any semblance of intelligence and emotion (which he never had to begin with) and replace everything with his retarded intermission jokes? but somehow even worse than before?

We're not talking about the super villain shuffle user

Why not, compare it to the jack skellington song, say if it's better or worse.

Doug Walker has the brain of a narcissist sixteen year old

iirc he was fed up with the critic character and did that shitty 4-hour flick to retire him. then he figured his fanbase would stick around as he crossed over into what he really wanted to make: sketch comedy.

of course he had no talent and the show was complete shit and didn't have even half the views of the critic. so he ended that show and brought the critic back, but kept the skits by now revolving his reviews around them

Don't forget signing a lengthy lease on a shit ton of studio space and stealing other peoples equipment

>pay for big studio
>don't know what to do with it
>end up using it as storage and continue filming in small office rooms

He wanted to make something funny, like a Robot Chicken, where he could make fun of movies and tv shows without getting copyright strikes or claims for using their footage.

>He wanted to make something funny
Well fair play, we are laughing at him

It probably would have worked if he’d switched over at the height of his popularity, and more gradually.

And acquired some talent over the years

Why the fuck are we talking about him now? Why is he popular again? I thought he'd be dead in the ground by now

Eh, people like a lot of dumb shit online so I don’t think talent matters.

>Why is cringe-kino popular again?

>>$425,000

How can Doug have spent nearly a half-mil on a "short film" and yet still end up with something that looks every bit as cheap and amateurish as the youtube videos he filmed in his kitchen with a camcorder?

Yes, but also why this cringe-kino in particular?

Because he and his brother spent it all on a huge studio and crap that they didn't need. Leaving just enough money for a camcorder and a spot in the kitchen

>It probably would have worked if he’d switched over at the height of his popularity, and more gradually.

James Rolfe does a variety of videos on Cinemassacre: He does his AVGN videos (most popular), let's plays that suck, miniseries that are OK (Board James), roundtable movie reviews that are horrible, and random what's on his mind videos (that are usually his best stuff). Point is, he doesn't go all-in on one thing; he still does the Nerd to keeps fans happy but gets to also do other types of videos to appease himself. A lot of them suck, but whatever.

Doug wanted to kill off the Nostalgia Critic series all at once and he never recovered. If he'd just spread the content out; a little of NC and a little of other BS nobody cares about, he probably could've maintained his momentum like James did.

Doug never attended any sort of film school (he was a janitor before he started his youtube series) and he surrounds himself with sycophants who won't tell him when he's doing something wrong. All the money in the world won't make his content look any better than a camcorder in a kitchen when A) He doesn't know what he's doing, and B) He won't listen to anyone who does know what they're doing.

Yeah, James does it better where he branches out without chopping down the tree.

Just want to watch a comfy review of an old cartoon or movie and suddenly every time without fail

>BLACK GUY!
>WOMAN!

>GET IN HERE!

>I thought he'd be dead in the ground by now
No you're thinking of Spoony.

>Spoony is dead
>Somehow Linkara keeps going despite being the most embarrassing autistic shit and having endured one of the most brutal Metokour videos ever
>JonTron got RACISTed but still managed a comeback
>Doug nearly got #MeTooed
>James is just a cameo on his own channel but it keeps going regardless
>yet Spoony is still dead

How bad did he fuck up to get drummed out of THAT market?

At least Jew Wario had the good sense to kill himself when he realized he was gonna be outted as a child molester.

Spoony didn't get drummed out, he just refuses to do any work. Despite this somehow there are some people still donating to his patreon.

>Child molester
Kitty Marie saying that despite being the age of legal consent that she was "mentally" 2 years younger so JewWario is a head cannon statutory rapist is the dumbest part.

>JewWario is a head cannon

Was that a typo or a joke about Jew Wario putting a cannon to his head?

Can someone give me a gif or webm of douge flying in the sky with the black furry? Pleeeease

It was very bad. He should have used all the money he had to hire real writers and producers instead of an empty studio

Wouldn't really have made a difference, if he was still the one directing them. Basically, what Doug needed to become was a producer who coordinates and runs the production side of things; let other directors and writers actually create the content under his watch.

Problem is that Doug wants to be an "auteur". He wants to write, direct and produce his videos himself and he doesn't have the scale to do any one of those things, let alone all of them.

But what if WHAT IF it has all been a purposeful stylistic choice all along???

What’s kept pic related going for over a decade while other once popular content creators abandon what made them money and go extinct?

Would you want to be the one that was responsible for him turning Miles' gun on himself?

Uh, Doug isn't looking too good these days.

a steady paycheck

There was another thing going around during that whole thing from some youtube reviewer of how JewWario got naked to finger a girl who was passing out drunk. It could be bullshit though

That's what "Cringe KINO" is, user. The Nostalgia Critic/AVGN aesthetic.

You mean Screaming Mantis? She's an alcoholic who lives with her mom while stripping on Twitter for anime statues, menorahs and PF Chang's gift certificates. Take her stories with a grain of salt

Doug used to do a bunch of other characters back then, didn't he? Like that Chester A Bum character and the bartender that draws video game characters.

>PUT THIS COSTUMES!

And thattl tv news anchor and that guy with the glasses

I'm glad AvGN got real script writers and editors while he's just playing the actor role.

Please guys

The first episode was them parodying the Dark Knight Rises
The second one was going to be Transformers but they looked at it and thought it wasn't funny and so they shelved that to be included on the DVD. Doug had to put up a video explaining why there was a delay.
I forgot the rest of the episodes. I think there was a Wreck-It-Ralph one.
