a halo film will ONLY be good if its based on the nylund books. prove me wrong
What about ODSTs
Kubrick's Warhammer40k project.
Make a saving private Ryan but with ODSTs and they’re air dropping into alien Omaha beach.
>Kubrick's Warhammer40k project.
I just googled it. Literally all he did was ask to read one of the novels while looking for something to adapt.
"The last jewess" by NatSoc films circa 1963
"based on a true story"
tagline
"To create sometimes you must destroy"
>no halo game fighting insurgents
That's kind of what they miss with Vidya adaptations. Some of us just want to know what the other dudes were doing. Hell, even with Star Wars, just give me a movie about a Tie or X-Wing squadron. Jesus.
we already got a star wars movie.
How about
that verhoeven/schwarzenegger big budget movie about the crusades
>come to jesus if you want to live
I can hear it, I can see it.
Red Mars is one of the best science fiction stories ever told, and I’ve really no idea why nobody’s adapted it yet. It’d be very hard to get right, but if LOTR can be done, Red Mars probably can too. It’d have to be a mini-series if it were to be made, as I don’t think you can fit any of the books into one movie. James Cameron was working on it at one point, I believe, but he dropped it. Oh well, the books are good enough on their own, but there are a few scenes I’d like to see on the big screen.
>build a universe where a 7 foot tall super soldier that could fuck up almost any alien is the last hope for humanity.
>wouldn't you rather play as some marines instead?!?
ODST was always stupid
this. also i doubt that spartans being the centerpiece of the story would work. a faceless emotionless protag worked for dredd but just barely.
obligitory
if you've read the books you know spartans have emotions. translating to screen might be difficult though since they're almost always wearing helmets
Dredd had emotion. Mainly contempt for the criminal class.
yeah i read nylund's stuff. it was great and i know they had emotion, but like i said it would be pretty impossible to convey it on screen. in the books it was always really subtle shit or internal monologue from john's perspective. just saying that in a feature film it would be hard to get a normie audience to give a shit about the spartans unless you had a fully featured and well done development period.
in my opinion the best way to make it work would be to have them more or less supporting characters while the overall story arc follows a marine/grunt/odst while the spartans are more or less mythological characters.
Based Mars Trilogy, just finished it recently, Everything felt so plausible, just a small step here and a breakthough here and BAM, teraforming Mars with seethrough diamond dams and canals cut by laserbeams.
It would have to be a series to get all the plots across, I don't think a movie series could do it justice unless it was pretty wrong
There was a TV adaptation planned quite recently, shame it got canned.
The Cole Protocol would be good too
why do you not think it would work when things like capeshit used masked heroes all the time? besides in the books they spend huge chunks of the story out of combat
That’s how they did the Forward Unto Dawn miniseries and I thought it worked out really well basically both the covenant and the Spartans are super classified and nobody knows anything about it except for what one of the characters can sort of suss out from helmet cam footage his ODST brother is illegally sending him. The covenant show up to fuck up their planet at the end of the series and Chief shows up and rescues the characters . It’s a different take on the Halo universe in that it centers on a bunch of Officers-in-training at the Halo version of West Point. It was surprisingly well researched and I thought it was really engaging and interesting
Best sci-fi story I’ve ever experienced.
Bradley Cooper was working on a series for syfy, not sure what the status is.
Would be difficult to do right, but would be epic.
