Because people are invested in the story. More so the characters that we identify with. We had big expectations from years and years of build up and it all came down to D&D becoming fatigued and completely deflating their spines to capitulate to the blue checkmark bullies who didn't even like GOT before season 3-4, let alone when it was just a book series. Like the reddit assholes who pretend like GOT is their favorite show but still can't spell 'Cersei' and think Daenarys's real name is Khaleesi.
