The first third of this episode was just everybody kissing and talking about dumb shit, and then the second third was Dany suddenly getting turned around on by everybody, and then the final third was a culmination of even more autistic, nonsensical military and diplomatic strategy than they had in EP3. I have truly, honestly, never seen a show drop in quality like this. Even the set-pieces, acting, basic dialogue, amount of background actors, and costumes have all gotten considerably worse. Film students will be tasked 10 years from now to watch this show for homework and write papers on how it shit its own pants so horrendously. So someone tried to argue that it makes sense for Cersei to parlay with Dany here in the last thread.

Please enlighten me. Explain to me why it's not just a better idea to slaughter Dany RIGHT HERE. She has the golden company, send them out of the gates to attack them. In addition, use your ballistas on Drogon, and archers on the unsullied and Dany. There's hardly any of them so a few vollies should finish them off in a few seconds. Drogon is on the ground, a few shots from the ballista and he's finished. The rest of her army is not there, she has no hope of escaping.

Explain why this doesn't make sense.

Let's say Cersei doesn't know the strength of Dany's army led by Jon. Ok, so let's say that Jon's army is enough to take KL on their own (unlikely considering GK has 20k men, and they are defending the walls and have to siege KL and then get to the red keep).

In this scenario, if they succeed in taking out Drogon and Dany, they have a much better chance of defeating them in a siege without a dragon flying overhead.

In addition, let's say they don't succeed, they're fucked anyways, so you might as well TRY to end the war right then and there rather than just dying later anyways.

Let's say Jon's army is too weak alone to take KL, then even if she doesn't succeed she will still probably win. But if they take out Drogon and Dany, the war is over then and there. There's no point in parlay here, nothing is gained by either side. Cersei has already done far worse than betray a few people coming to parlay at the gates.

Tyrion is her brother. Even if she's irredeemably evil, he still doesn't want her to die if she doesn't have to. He knows Jaime loves her.

Meh, I just want to see how the story ends and I enjoy the shitshow surrounding the show more than the show itself. It's kind of hard to take the show seriously, because it's such a disaster of plotholes and inconsistencies at this point, but for what it's worth it was more interesting to me than the rest of the season because I've always enjoyed the politics aspect of the show more.

Speaking of plotholes, is there any reason why Cersei would assume Missandei is important? Did she see her with Danny at some point and I forgot about it, or is it just one of those things that was just written for convenience's sake? I found it odd that she was treated as this important PoW, there would be no way for Cersei to know what her relationship with Danny is, and what even was her place in Cersei's army?
