kino masterpiece

kino but don't if you think it's his best you're gravely mistaken

Not as good as Avengers End Game

I will never understand how people found this boring. It's an adventure movie. Fun adventures,Barry wants a girl,(spoilers from here on for people that haven't seen this masterpiece)shots a guy so he escapes, gets robbed, join the military, his friend dies, escapes, fucks a girl, lies, becomes a spy, turns on the ones who send him, helps people cheat etc. The definition of entertaining. Then he becomes aristocrat so it kind of changes into yes kind of boring but actually fucking not,it mesmerizing, drama, etc. Also not cold at all it was extremely emotional at the end. godtier pretty pictures and music all throughout, you must at least be kept by that. Also interesting if you're interested in extremely accurate historical depictions(aside from the gun in that one scene and the poster which allegedly is there but I can't see it so whatever).Fuck the zoomers who say this is boring,it's anti-boring.

Also the duels are as entertaining as Leone''s(pretty sure he said he was inspired by that actually and used the music as morricone's)
Speaking of Kubrick duels and Leone,in the final duel you can hear the chickens because the duelers are being chickens, just like the beginning of duck you sucker (extremely underrated film btw),when the aristocrats are scared when they're being pointed at with guns and you hear chickens in the background.Another insance Kubrick was inspired by Leone

Bump.
Why doesn't Yea Forums discuss films any more?
C'mon now,I know there's still some decent film-watchers here.

I guess Yea Forums is dead.

I don't know about the idiots on this board but I found it to be a very entertaining experience

>not even mentioned by scaruffi
Worthless trash.

But you have the official Yea Forums consensus. It's Napoleonikino.

Kino of the highest order. Kubrick gets a lot of critical acclaim from the pseud crowd. I don’t know why that is. He was definitely a populist filmmaker, with even his most abstract work (2001) is still accessible to most audiences.

I can't remember where he said this, but Kubrick considered cinema to be something universally enjoyable, that can manipulate anybody's emotions. Can't remember exactly right now, going to try and find it.

It perfectly demonstrated how degenerative and violent Irishmen are.

its very good but very long, i can understand why people would lose interest

My personal favorite of Leone and Morricone, both at their most playful.

Should be watched with intermission maybe.

There’s a reason why almost everyone who watches his movies likes or loves them

It's the only film I'd consider a masterpiece.

Mio amigo patricio!
It's a shame how much it gets overlooked because its name Duck, you sucker(although it makes a lot of sense when you actually see the movie both superficially and thematically) makes it sound mediocre as fuck.
It really should have been named
Once Upon A Time...the Revolution
as originally intended

concentrated reddit

The pacing was a bit odd.

The first half of the movie was pure kino, but I think it rushed a too much through Barry's time as a professional gambler, and lingered on a bit longer than necessary during his dysfunctional marriage to the noblewoman. Switch around maybe 15 minutes worth of screentime from one plot arc to the other and it would have been perfect.

pure fucking reddit

imagine how fucking soi you'd have to be to watch a movie a) this old and b) this gay

Great film.

I doubt they even know what Barry Lyndon is. Also, stop letting them live rent-free in your head.

lmao at your life, back to your thread

>is afraid to touch his cousins boobies
>goes to the military
>encounters a married woman, eats her food and then has sex with her immediately
What did he mean by this?

Yeah, what kind of freak is nervous about incest?

leftist libcuck fantasy flick with no substance, Kubredditick's worst

This is capeshit land, fuck off with your reddit trash

nice honkers

Like Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide Shut, the first two thirds of the movie were genius, but the last third was a let down in comparison.

Well he didn't doubt killing a man to marry her

the entirety of eyes wide shut is dogshit you bringelord

I thought it went downhill in the third act after he got married, but i Have only seen it once.

I think I see it refferenced most often as Fistful of Dynamite, which is the worst of its 3 names because it implies it's part of the Man With No Name corpus.

retard

Its not his best, but it is my favorite!

no , i am not

Kubrick was a patrician which is why he loved Thackeray.

It could have been good if Ryan O’Neal didn’t shit all over the film with his humiliatingly bad performance. He was the Robert Pattinson of his day after Love Story came out. God what a turd, anybody who thinks this is Kubrick’s best is a flaming homosexual. A real contrarian’s contrarian.

I liked the music, the Chieftains songs particularly.

Thanks for spoilering your posts. Have somehow never gotten around to seeing this one yet

I turned down a free ticket to Avengers and stayed home watching Barry Lyndon

>but the last third was a let down in comparison
The last third Barry Lyndon is the best bit.

Well that actually might be the point.
Read up on the movie a bit:

so fucking boring

>slant
lmao fuck off ya soiboi

Fucking masterpiece.
i prefer Clockwork Orange over it since I'm more fascinated by the main character of Clockwork and the themes of clockwork are more engaging imo
But it's fantastic

I don't know or have seen anything about this website besides this review

based and red pilled
FMJ is brilliant the whole way through and Eyes Wide Shut is dogs shit the whole through.
The third act of barry lydnon is satisfying and kino

>i prefer Clockwork Orange over it since I'm more fascinated by the main character of Clockwork

Alex is possibly the greatest character ever captured in film. Malcolm McDowell was a classically trained acting miracle.

I TINK YOU'RE A RACIST FATHA

Disliking the second half of FMJ is plebbitry of the highest order. There must be a dozen different films/tv shows with R L Ermey doing his shouty man routine, or directly coached by him (Officer and a Gentleman). The only bad thing about FMJ is squashing the last two thirds of the book into the battle for Hue instead of having a kino jungle scene as well. Joker mercy kills Cowboy after he is wounded by the sniper

>Disliking the second half of FMJ is plebbitry of the highest order.

This opinion itself is entry level and frequently spouted by plebs.

>berates and beats his 11 year old daughter after she wins an Oscar for Paper Moon and he doesn't
>forces his 12 year old son to do cocaine with him, after an altercation fires a weapon at his son in "self-defense"
based ryan

>Gets famous for starring in a movie where his lover dies of terminal illness, and another where his life crumbles to pieces
>In real life gets married to Farrah Fawcett and she dies of terminal illness while his life crumbles to pieces

Irl kino

I agree.
Alex and Patrick Bateman are used so well to explore the human mind and the psychology of it

My favourite thing.

way too fucking long and a bit of artistic wankery from Kubrick

other than that, solid film

>DUNN-DUNNN

>DUNN-DUNNN DUNN

>DUNN-DUNNN DUNN

>DUNN-DUNNN DUNN

>DUNN-DUNNN DUNN

>DUNN-DUNN DUNN

>DUNN-DUNN DUNN-DUNN DUNN-DENN DUNN-DUNN-DUNN-DUNNN

whats wrong with neck , yuk

Is that a nipslip?

Ryan O'Neal is also a jerk in real life as well as Barry Lyndon

CDAN hinted that Ryan raped the daughter of a prominent director too. Guess who?

I give up,tell me.I just hope it's not a good one's.

>hurr durr stop wishing to have been born in the 18th century, you would probably have been a starving peasant!
>literally just join the army and get promoted to spy, then just ally with the enemy and become his pseudoson.also if you want to be REALLY rich just seduce some dying cucks wife

>In 2007, O'Neal was arrested for shooting at his son Griffin which he claimed was in self-defense
>In 2010, O'Neal famously hit on Tatum at Fawcett's funeral, not recognizing her as his daughter
Holy shit how can one man be so based?

Every shot is like a painting

Attached: vlcsnap-2010-12-11-22h44m50s193.png (1272x720, 1.04M)

Maybe it was an 11/10 casting after all
Then stop posting that ONE shot. We've all seen it.

fine, here is another
just LOOK at the composition

Lord Bullingdon was 100% in the right

Kubrick is a hack, will never compare to true auteurs like tarkovsky

Contrarian spotted.Not even a well-watched contrarian,Tarkovsky is as entry-level as Kubrick.

The first half is fun, but from the time he meets Lady Lyndon until the end it's nonstop kino of the highest degree. It just never stops

Art on film

Actually there are a handful of shots like that while the rest of the film looks quite ordinary. Those shots are very jarring and while beautiful on their own, stick out like a sore thumb.

Attached: D72E5BBE-0AA1-4DD7-A538-171FA123DD04.jpg (640x403, 46K)

They are deliberate recreations of paintings. The exterior shots don't use the same cameras.

a good movie but a bad adaptation of the book its based on

It’s one of those movies that you don’t know what the fuck is going on but interesting enough to watch without getting bored. Enjoyable.

did armies really burn villages to secure livestock for food? did armies really force teenage farmers to war?

100% extra virgin unfiltered kino
every frame is a painting
Kubrick best by a landslide, nothing comes even close

yes you retard, people back then didn have free time to jack off to tranny porn and delete posts on an internet imageboard for no monetary compensation

It's my favorite movie ever made. It's just so pretty to look at.

>you don’t know what the fuck is going on

comedy masterpiece

The best looking of all his films, but not the best overall.

>name is Bullingdon
>avenge father and honor by shooting the man who cucked him

based pottery

very different films, desu. clockwork orange is a character study and possibly kubricks most emotional film with paths of glory. barry lyndon is very detached and more impressive in its direction.

how did kubrick let that little branch stay in frame during the scene where young barry interrupts his love interest and jack quin? jarring.
