the thing about Indian cinema is it's made to appeal to the culture of watching films in India. it's not like here in the West where you go to the theater and sit in silence or watch some film alone on your laptop at home. watching films is a very social event. what we see as corny or overly sentimental is seen as exhilarating over there.
