Why did the MCU change Thanos from being a beta orbiter wanting to impress death to him wishing to end overpopulation? They even hinted at his obsession with death in the avengers post credits scene. The comic motivation is better since it avoids the nonsensical means Thanos uses to end overpopulation and there’s no more questioning about why he didn’t create more resources.

Disney isn't going have a death worshipping madman in the background of 22 movies. They have to sell toys and Legos. Parental backlash is too great.
>They even hinted at his obsession with death in the avengers post credits scene
What do you mean?
But yeah his motivation in the comics was pretty ridiculous but at least it didn't raise a million other questions.
Because its fucking retarded
>to start with
Oh don't worry, they just had to establish how and why he becomes obsessed with her, this is how he'll come back life later ie his Goku/Freeza vs Jiren moment with Him/Thor vs New Big Bad
Say hello to the NEXT top 1 all time grosser
The Russo's are trying to low-key expose nwo/illuminati type plans
could thanos beat uchiha madara
Imagine Eva Green playing Death...
Regular? Yes.
two reasons:
1) they want to pre-program you to accept the mass culling they have planned on all the plebs because the elites have about as much respect for your life as thanos does.
and
2) They don't have the balls to just make him space-hitler who wants to genocide only 'inferior races' 'terminally ill' 'chronically lazy' 'useless eaters' crackheads and other scum and basically anyone he thinks is holding the productive people back. That might have come off as just a little TOO sympathetic especially if they showed the post-snap world as thriving without the dead weight.
Problematic
>Why did the MCU change Thanos from being a beta orbiter wanting to impress death to him wishing to end overpopulation
What is the immediate thing you think of when you read this sentence about some guy going to the efforts to kill TRILLIONS with a capital T just to impress some girl?
Also they didn't want to spend too much time introducing another character for Thanos to give a shit about and these movies already have too many.
>space-hitler
I can get why Hitler would do it. He hated the Jews and we've been genociding races who get in the way forever.
But when did the Germans decide to kill millions of Namaqua in the hopes that Queen Vicky would open her legs? That is what Comic Thanos is.
I always thought his obsession with literal Death was the most ridiculous part of Infinity Gauntles (the comic series). As for the MCU, they'd have to introduce a personification of Death, which opens up a can of worms about whether abstract concepts can take form. At least the Asgardians and other cosmic beings are space aliens. Stuff like Death, Eternity, the In-Betweener are harder to swallow.
I didn't even know that happened I havent read a comic since brand new day
>22 movies
How the fuck
>making him a LITERAL incel
Yeah, because people here would have liked it so much.
God fucking call, she would have been perfect as Death, i'm a little disappointed that Death wasn't in IW/Endgame, would have been interesting to see Thanos egged on by Eva Green in the background in certain scenes, then abandon thanos just before he's dusted
Because budget and setup, that's it. Having an actual Infinity War while still focusing on little guys like Stark and Cap is impossible, you can't have Thanos try to murder everyone in existence because at that point all the celestial beings would have to get involved while he's doing it, there's no way around it if they want to keep the door open for them in the future films, you can't just say that Galactus was on holiday or the Living Tribunal was asleep. But half the population in a snap? You can get away with suggesting they didn't really give a shit about that, leaving the door open for the surviving Avengers to be relevant.
The obsession was what what made those comic-books entertaining, though. It took the premise of "the bad guy loves death" on its head and made it equal parts relatable and absurd. It's no surprise that it was deemed too weird and goofy for the MCU and its phase-whatever climax.
>deemed too weird and goofy
Which is strange because they have a talking cat and a talking, walking cactus movie and people loved that shit.
The way I see it, their main box-office draw just couldn't die for the sake of stopping a weirdo. The sacrifice and the oh-so-epic conclusion demanded the villain not be silly in any way.
Snapping half of all people is a terrible way to end overpopulation. He'd have to keep doing it every few decades
Since there was no Silver Surfer, to me it was all downhill from there.
Wrong. It's because it's propoganda for women and children because they have trouble grasping population dynamic or even non linear relationships.
The MCU is afraid of being comic booky.

The entities are already there so they can introduce them at any time. I heard Deadpool fucked Death at some point so that could be a opportunity. My worries is that they won't be able to do Deadpool right at all (adulterated, fourth wall-breaking humour) or X-Men (why would your son be discriminated against for having Superpowers in a world where Captain America and Hulk are worshipped?)
It's considered weird and wacky because it's one thing to buy a shitton of flowers for some girl you like. It's over the top to kill billions just to impress her.
