Even if it was a small minority online they can cherry pick comments or just fake them with sick puppet accounts to justify the change via a press release citing the sock puppet/minority comments it would be cheap and East enough you could pay marketing interns pennies to make it happen

False advertising to deliberately deceive customers is illegal and will always bite them in the ass no matter what their initial intentions were. No studio would take that risk, but I won't rule out that they have a backup plan in place should their first Sonic design fail.

For this to make sense like a HUNDRED people who worked on the film would have to be involved in the conspiracy.

It's more likely that they used the initial leaks that came out months ago (probably even on purpose) to test the audience unofficially, decided back then that it wasn't going to work, and started work on the redesign before the trailer that they had already edited came out. Then they released the trailer officially as they had to, and confirmed that the redesign was the way to go.

The primary reason I think this movie's gonna blow is because it's yet another movie base don some existing property where the titular character is basically the wacky sidekick to the real main character, Some Guy. And I'll just bet you that Some Guy has some kind of issue that's fucking up his personal life, and Sonic will somehow be the key to guiding him through it, since he's having a similar problem!

So, James Marsden is "a former SFPD officer-turned-newly appointed sheriff of Green Hills, Montana." I wonder if he resents going from being a big city cop to stuck in some podunk little town? I wonder if Sonic resents being stuck on some podunk planet like Earth?

I'm sure looking forward to the scene where Marsden is defending Earth to Sonic, and then he kinda stops and stares when he realizes he just said the same line Adam Pally used to defend Green Hills in a scene 15 minutes earlier.

This is so true and the Endgame trailers removed Pepper from one of the scenes of the movie, if I remember correctly. The Sonic movie has had two designs of Sonic all along, the shitty Nu-Sonic design and the more familiar Sega design of Sonic (whether it's the version with green eyes or not). And on Youtube, there are people who say they'll watch the Sonic movie simply because Paramount is 'listening to the fans', so mission accomplished for Paramount.

I've never really been a fan of sonic, and I'm guessing that fan film wasn't all that great either since even with all the uproar caused by Soinic these days that CWC's tweet is the first I've ever heard of it.
The Tom Girl saga in itself is just part of Chris' identity now, it won't go away until he dies, the current saga is the Dimensional Merge.
