Why does it seem like the entire state of Pennsylvania looks exactly like this? Was it intentional?
republicans
there's nothing in Pennsylvania but trees, dead coal mining towns, Philly, Amish people and old german-styled villages that are slowly being demolished. The entire eastern half the of the state looks like truck stops because there's nothing there to actually stop and do, so it's just a stretch of road to fuck off through.
Central PA is a hell hole of boredom from which no being can escape. Harrisburg is the worst 'city' to ever exist in human memory, it's an incredibly compact Detroit surrounded by suburban sprawl and nothingness. The north of the state is woods and hicks, the east of the state is crime and dying industry. Erie would be nice if the lake wasn't toxic from cow shit and you weren't living under 8 feet of snow 2/3rds of the year.
Highway stops like in that pic are comfy on long roadtrips though

I don't see anything wrong with your picture.

THERE ARE A MILLION INTERSTATE ON/OFF RAMP DESIGNS BETTER THAN THIS
YES I'M MAD
you don't know how bad things really are
>warm summer night, driving to a mcdonalds drive thru with windows open, listening to Drive ost
I'm nostalgic for this, god I'm pathetic
Wrong. It's massive subsidisation of the automobile system that's been unanimously approved by both parties post-WW2. With transport so cheap, building outwards becomes inevitable.
If cars, petrol and roads all operated under the free market, without state subsidy, everything from suburbia to parking spaces to single-storey strip malls like OP's pic would become unviable. People would actually have to live in functional communities.
oh no not roads
The more I look at it, the more hideous it becomes. In a way it almost wraps round and becomes beautiful.
It's actually really effective and works great
Roads as they're used today (state-owned cager monopolies) are the West's biggest mistake since the Reformation.
This is so depressing. I'm glad I grew up surrounded by nature.
I'm feeling like stuff like this is hip to build right now to "increase efficiency of intersections" but will fall out of favor very quickly because people have gotten their driver's licenses in a vending machine and only ever driven on grids since, and can simply not wrap their heads around this.
Pittsburgh's not too bad depending on where you live, the crime is just really shitty in parts of the city since unemployment became an issue in the early 90's, same fucking problem with Philly, but Philly has a larger population and the local government is corrupt as fuck and the cost of living is completely fucked because everyone prices housing like you're living in East Philly with all the catholic whites but instead you're living next to Temple with all the blacks that'll mug you for your shoes but your rent is still 2000 a month
i'm from the third world and i find this
>reformation
>mistake
Keep sucking that pope and church institution cock, catholicfag.
>roads are monopolies
As opposed to state/city owned public transit?
Cities have always been founded along trade routes, America's just unfortunate enough to have most of its land undeveloped so the trade cities are built entirely by the traders
There's that and the fact that the United States was trying to fill the nation, population statistic be damned, and so you have a relatively small population spread out over an enormous country
People have this weird idea that cars = freedom, public transport = communism. In reality the road network is every bit as state-controlled as the city light rail, but causes all sorts of social, psychological, environmental problems to boot. One of the best things any developed nation could do would be to stop subsidising roads and build decent public transport for cities.
I do feel free driving my car on a long highway, though. I never feel more liberated than I do during a 6 hour car drive without having to talk to anybody.
whites don't want to live in shitty inner-city neighborhoods (aka next to niggers)
Gummo
If this were sim city I would just send a natural disaster. It'd be faster than trying to correct that shit
A problem caused by mistaken federal planning. By massively subsidising suburbs post-WWII, the state caused a critical mass of white people to leave the inner cities, destroying white communities and forcing everyone with enough cash to flee to suburbia. Good news is, the situation is slowly sorting itself out:
zerohedge.com
Poor people (aka nonwhites) are being pushed out into the suburbs as middle-class whites reclaim the inner cities.

Is it true that America doesn't have roundabouts?
Better article:
"This shift – a transfer of wealth from suburb to city – is just as profound as the city-to-suburb shift that preceded it in the middle of the twentieth century, and presents a new challenge to both. It’s certainly fueled concerns around inequality and potential displacement in our big cities. That’s gotten a lot of our attention. But it’s also challenging long-held assumptions about suburbs and their sustainability. What happens when suburbs that were built for the middle class are no longer attractive to them? What happens when suburban municipalities are forced to consider sizable fiscal challenges with a shrinking pool of resources?"
Suburbs are cancelled. Look up their changing demographics. They're getting less white and they're getting poorer, and unlike cities they can't survive without massive subsidies. The next few decades are gonna be interesting.
Based and gentrificationpilled.
It has some, but not enough
good, fuck niggers and spics
Hi.
Stop making this dumb fucking thread

roundabouts are a meme and the statistics you fags like to spout are fake news
Eh don't care about data, I still prefer driving through a roundabout than a crossing, much smoother experience
>whites leave cities
WHITE FLIGHT
>whites come back to cities
GENTRIFICATION
When will leftists just admit that they want all whites to die?
It wouldn't surprise me at all if the government had dumped a bunch of nuclear waste in PA and just paved over it, there's something wrong with Pennsylvanians on a genetic level. The Mormons are the sanest ones out of all of them, what the fuck does that say about your state
It is kinda funny how gentrification is literally just the immigration debate with the sides switched. Suddenly leftists don't care about muh economic benefits and they're deeply concerned that a different culture moving in might adversely affect the preexisting population. The only way to understand this hypocrisy is to realise that right-wing = pro-white, left-wing = anti-white.
>Pennsylvania
>Mormons
Apparently someone's already dumped nuclear waste on your head and paved over it.
lmao, meant to say Amish. Fair enough, Gettysburg trash.

do you have a car? roundabouts are a far superior driving experience. it's like streaming vs downloading. sure, i don't want an entire city with nothing but roundabouts, but if i'm just going to the store and don't have to stop my car once it's pretty nice. YOU are fake news my friend

Say hello to Milwaukee's Marquette Interchange
It's like 8-10 stories tall, turned a sizeable chunk of the downtown area into a post-industrial wasteland, and gets shut down due to a fatal accident like once a day
too jewish. why do jews make up 2 percent of the population and yet are 50 percent of the producers and directors and actors and musicians and writers?
gentrification and middle class people leaving the cities happens even in ethnically homogenous countries
>East Philly
what part are you referring to? I live in Philadelphia and never heard of an east Philly. You mean the northeast? If so, that’s hardly even white anymore. That part I live in is full of muslims and chinks.
>Confuses amerimutts
that's one fucked up parking lot
it would suck living next to a busy road. constant sound of cars and shit
superior intelligence and business instinct maybe?
if whites are superior, why aren't they running the show?
Glad I live in FL where 90% of the roads are simple grids only retards have trouble with
General Electric, the Ford motor vehicle company and greedy real estate developers are all too blame for how shitty America is in terms of city planning.
Only downside is 80% of your state is populated by junkie super villains
I do, it just sounds natural to me
if I'm on vacation on some quiet place it takes a while to get used to total silence at night
I will freely admit that ethnic jews are possibly the most intelligent people on the planet. That is why they need to leave. They don't follow jesus's teachings to love your neighbor. They are smart and see us as cattle and they killed jesus.
New Jersey has a few left.
Roundabout is playing in my head right now.
We have them.
I had a dream I was driving on a highway and there were hundreds of mcdonalds signs that went into the distance. So, that dream.
>wh*tes think they are reclaiming the city
>doesn't realize the city is reclaiming them
Enjoy your daughters getting piped by BLACK BVLLS every week
>East Philly with all the catholic whites
you mean russian jews
Zizek was right when he said Americans are such cattle under capitalism they literally dream in commercials
these intersections work really well though?
That's interesting. First time I've heard free market principles in relation to stopping urban sprawl. I don't know if it's right, and I don't know if I agree, but hats off for making me think about it.
You think it's subsidized out of the kindness of their hearts? American corporate powers have leveraged their way into government decision making thanks to having a giant supply of cash and lobbying.
Fpbp
I drove through Atlanta once
Jesus....are you okay?
>tfw you realize there are ""people"" living outside of America
imagine being born outside of america
zitto animale
The entire thing is labeled, it would be pretty easy to figure out.
Blame our contractors not us, the current way they do roads allow them to charge more taxes for "road upkeep and repairs"
thank fucking god i don't live in america
or at least in one of the burgerpunk areas
Must be really cool driving through one of these.
I want to visit the US one day just to experience driving in these weird roads
these burgerpunk places pretty much only exist on our highways, which are extremely long. if they didn't exist it would be impossible to drive through the country without starving or running out of gas.
I feel free knowing that I can get easily around my country by public transportation, even to the tiniest villages, without having to be able to afford or drive a car.
To each his own.
Poultrygeist is kino af
What are some good highwaykino
Conservatives are pro *rich* white. An important distinction to make.
I can't say the same, that photo is pretty comfy to me desu
It is one of my dreams to live in a city/district packed with stores and glowy signs. I have to take a bus everywhere because the rural shithole I live in is really damn far from everything, and there are very few billboards and signs here because in my country that kind of advertisement is illegal (when it gets close to OP).
When I see a picture like OP's I just feel very jealous. Food, gas, it's all there. I wanna move to one of them burgerpunk towns.
Casuals
bruh that's just a highway adjacent shithole. crappy motels and fast food joints and gas stations. it literally exists just for truckers and families on vacation to stop, get something to eat, take a shit, and move along.
As someone who is on the road 150-200 days a year, places like those are oddly comfy.
Actually Diverging Diamond Intersections are pure kino; both cheaper to build and safer while being faster and much easier for large semis as they lack any super tight turns.
t. civil draftsman who works on highways
I'm sure that this is highly efficient and some really smart people knew exactly what they were doing when they designed it, but this still scares me
/Out/ here. You're a gay indoorsman pussy. Have sex faggot
This thing confuses Brits too. Unless you have one in your town, everyone is confused by these.
>smartest people on the planet

The free market works for basically everything.
Central banks need to be abolished.
Free market does actually favor public transport in big cities, see japan.
That's cool but OP pic really ain't what you want, check out any real city
FROM THE DUSTY MESA
HER LOOMING SHADOW GROWS
>The free market works for basically everything
Unironically this. It could even be used to save the environment if the onus of pollution and garbage was on the company and not the consumer and the cost of such was put into the product. Oh how the price of certain goods would soar if the environmental and health costs were put into the product while removing the subsidies.
keep telling yourself that
Between 1970 and and around 2000, PA was just a stop between NYC/DC and Chicago or the sun belt. Philly was a crime ridden dump, all the big industries in Pittsburgh had died, and the other cities like Erie, Scranton, Allentown, and Harrisburg had gone to shit even before that. So it happened that much of the state is built around the interstate. Pittsburgh and Philly are doing a little better, but if you grow up in Central PA, your main hangouts will be the local gas station, either Wawa, Sheetz, or Turkey Hill.
>t. grew up in Latrobe
Why isn't burgerpunk a thing yet?
Erie is pretty based just due to having a store that's half jelly belly shop and half ninja weapons and fireworks, which is located next to a Quaker Steak and Lube.
>no one has taken that thing out with an RPG yet
I thought americans love to shoot down stuff
I for one welcome our new amazon overlords.
>roundabouts
They just put one in my small Florida college town, and everyone hates it. Being Burgerland, it was literally put in across a brand new Walmart. I can't believe there haven't been any catastrophic accidents there yet.
God I love Big Woddie's
A simple gun would suffice tbqh
>looks like Central/Western PA
>zoom in
>Pittsburgh sign
>the east of the state is crime and dying industry.
*Laughs in Main Line*
Lol it's a specific highway stop called Breezewood in PA. It’s known for looking like that
The closest thing I can think of is The Florida Project, the setting faintly resembles the OP pic and it literally ends with a bunch of kids running into Disneyland to escape their problems.
Thank god it's CGI.

Honestly, European Vacation. Believe it or not, it accurately depicts asshole American tourists
DC is full of them, every retarded Virginian shits themself when they get to one.
New England area has a pretty decent amount.
There's one I always take on my way home from Hartford
You wouldn't believe how many people have no idea how to use it
I had some dumb cunt that was holding short of the circle stop and wait for something like 30 seconds with no one coming, bitch wouldn't move an inch until I laid on the horn
stop falling for this fake shit
