The mad king Kingsguard were pretty much the best kingsguard of all time and Dayne is the strongest of the seven.
The Tower of Joy scene is described in a fever dream that Eddard has and we are given few details of what he looks like and he only has a few lines. Unlike in the tv show, he only wields one sword which is a super special sword allegedly made from a meteor. There are also two other kingsguard including the lord commander instead of that unnamed dude in the tv show. But yeah, Dayne is pretty mysterious and badass.

Amongst the GOAT swordsman, had the GOAT sword, was seen as the strongest and most deadly kingsguard, commanded respect and was also known to treat the small folk well. If he was at the trident he would have killed Bobby B and the battle might have ended differently. You know he's legit when Ned and Jaime both rave over them.
