Glad I didn't fall for that meme
Holy fuck, just post this just as I watched Seven Samurai for the first time, must be synchronicity
what a coincidence, i was fucking your mom too right now
Make sure to watch his Samurai trilogy based on Miyamoto Musashi as well as Harakiri. All amazing and classic samurai movies.
I know Yojimbo is great but Sanjuro is super underrated
Thanks for the recommendation, SS already became one of my all time favorites
What school did you go to? Everyone in my elective Asian Film Studies course loved it.
my film major friend thinks his movies are sexist...
they should be thrown out of film class
Actually I just realized he doesn't star in Harakiri, but you should watch it anyway cuz it's good.
Because he depicts women as helplessly head over heels in love with the strong silent archetypes and they often get ditched and left behind by the protagonist in favour of the love of the fight.
Oops meant to reply to Anyway, it's classical heroism. It's not sexist, it's just that the target demographic is men, not women.
Anyone saw Ikiru?
is the samurai trilogy actually good? i've only read the books about musashi
Any good?
i really dont agree with the core ideology of the film but even so its very good
He looks like Bear Grylls in this picture.
It's one of the most human films ever made and I hope I never see it again because it made me feel fucking exhausted.
Holy shit yes. They are incredible classics. They are what obviously inspired Quentin Tarantino, Sekiro, and even spaghetti westerns.
he'd take down bear grylls in a second with two fast cuts
>it made me feel fucking exhausted.
what do you mean?
Here's the trailer of the first one in the trilogy so you can get an idea of how badass it is:
maybe he means emotionally, its very moving not in a cringe or forced way. i didnt really like redbeard but ikiru is such a good hearted film
thanks
Saw it when I was like 20 or 21 and thought it was boring. Watched it again when I was 29 and saw so much of myself in the main character and thought about what I had seen for like.....dunno, still thinking about it actually.
yes when you waste your life away its a very hard film to take
>tfw 26 and wasting life being neet
OP, as far as pointless celebrity worship, jerk off homolust threads go, this is a good one
settle down butthurt anglo
NANI?!
t.wageslave
>tfw was scared to watch Seven Samurai for the first time because I thought maybe I wouldn't like it
>finally watch it
>instantly love it
