I heard a rumor that Cameron is pissed at the media for reporting it as a flop because he doesn't do Hollywood accounting so the numbers are all being compared to movies where they fucked with the numbers to avoid paying people as much.

Let's not discount the possibilty of adding another $100m on top of the current box office once all is said and done with dvd/blu-ray and streaming sales.

Where does this meme come from? The rule-of-thumb is production budget x2 to get the break even number, meaning they spend half the budget on making the movie and half the budget on marketing, obviously not exact numbers for every movie.

The napkin math is wrong, because they probably spent far leas on marketing. But the 350 number that Fox insiders told the press, would probably apply to a 50% split in box office takes - and we can’t apply that to a movie that’s been this China-heavy. Home media sales will certainly help, but l’m not sure if it already broke even. It is still possible that it has.

Hopefully, the advances in CGI in the years since the first film will be clearly evident in the new ones and they will be Alita-quality.

Also hopefully the writing in them is sufficient to actually make a compelling saga.

And hopefully there are more badasses like pic related, my favorite part of the first movie.

It’s a rule-of-thumb for most movies that they spend as much on marketing as on making the movie, and then they get about half the box office, meaning that they need to 4x the production budget to break even. But this can’t be applied universally to a movie so out of the ordinary as Alita. It is likely has a much higher production budget than marketing budget, and the release was also a bit out of the ordinary.

Is that some kind of advanced side cut?

It needs 700 gorillion to break even and unless it makes at least 100 brazillion in profit no one will even think of making a sequel

Well that's it anons, that's fucking it.
I'm back from my 3rd and final viewing. At this point theres only 1 screening per day in 1 theater in my fuckhuge city. Today was not the last day, but i doubt the movie will stay for much longer.

I also briefly surveyed the audience. The room was pretty small, i'd say 60 seats, with ~20 occupied.
There were 2 groups of 5-6 people, and like 3 couples.
Then after the trailers started rolling, a few lonely autists came in one by one, with the last one coming at like 3rd minute of the movie.

There was a line at the ticket booths (and no way to print online, the theater is oldschool), so my guess is these single autists arrived specifically to watch this movie and didnt expect there to be a line, while the rest of the viewers arrived well in advance and picked the movie spontaneously.

Now comes the 2-month wait for the Blu-ray release

Your options might be quite limited, because California. The weapons limitations there make it pretty hard to have true 3-gun. Your first step would be fire up that Google-fu and figure out if there are any competitions local to you. Usually they tend to be once a month or so at any given locale.

If you find any, they should have more specifics available for the gear requirements, etc.

Odds are, if you find a competition, you will need:
1. A CA compliant rifle of some sort. I'm not fully up to speed on their draconian restrictions, so the match directors would be the best people to consult on what exactly is legal to use.
2. A CA compliant pistol (I'm guessing from the roster.)
3. A CA compliant shotgun (again, I have no idea what kind of shotguns are actually allowed there.)

A belt, a holster, earpro, eyepro and some way to hold ammunition would be the other essential gear.

Honestly some people store mags and shotgun shells in their pockets when first starting out. The auxiliary gear is one of the major beginning expenses of the sport. Depending on how they do it in California, your exact gear requirements might vary.

The ammo quantity might not be as important as where and how you shoot it. Find a place to shoot that doesn't have stringent rules, where you can punch out to longer range, rapid fire, etc.

Quality over quantity often applies with training. Static fire at paper from the line will only get you so far.

work on good marksmanship fundamentals. fix your trigger pull and breath control. you're never going to be a good shot until you git gud at the basics. dry firing helps immensely with that. practice makes permanent not perfect so don't practice shit technique. If you want to work on shooting stuff in the air learn trap or skeet shooting.

You just have to be willing to sacrifice spending on other things, which not many people do. That makes truly mastering the shooting arts the domain of either wealthy people, or very dedicated poorfags.

You probably aren't going to be able to eek all that out of any one position. The most skilled positions are usually either going to be the most boring, or the most high-risk. Everyone in the military gets some baseline combat training, but infantry/spec-ops get WAY more. Get a computer related specialty if you want something remotely applicable to anything you could do on the outside. You can also make a lot of money on the outside as a bomb disposal specialist, but that is obviously a very dangerous job.

Go serve on a hospital ship or other navy vessel. You'll be in theoretical harm's way, because some asshole might torpedo your ship, but you'll be far away from the front lines and doing the heavy lifting for the guys on the front lines. Whether that is in a relief operation or in an armed conflicts. The logistics are pretty similar.

I doubt you've shot a modern Nerf gun, especially one of the third party guns or something modded. Good darts actually shoot straight too, I can hit a soda can from like 40 feet away.
You can do it in your back yard instead of driving 30+ minutes to a range and it's basically free by comparison.
I'm aware that it's not the same thing and I'm not saying it's better or worse but to write it off just because it doesn't make you feel like a soldier or whatever is a little silly. Paintball and video games are fun too but they don't transfer over to real guns either.

I would put nerf in the same category as airsoft and paintball, i.e. useful implements of force-on-force training. Use them in small scale training scenarios and you will get some skill carryover to real firearms.

Technically, the hospital ships are not Navy, but Military Sealift Command - they are non-commissioned support vessels. But you can do anything from helping run the actual hospital, to running the ship itself. On a Navy aircraft carrier or destroyer etc. you could be everything from a person who works on arming the airplanes, to running the nuclear reactos.

Coast Guard deals with smugglers and rescue operations all the time. Coast Guard duty isn't as non-risky as he's asking about.

It's not a real rifle, unlike some others shown in the manga. Its size isn't actually that large considering how small Alita is but the weird thing about it is how short the barrel is for a long-range rifle. The caliber looks huge, like .50 or bigger, and it's also not clear where the magazine is unless it's a bullpup and the thing behind her lower thumb is tha mag. It seems like overkill to take out a deckman, but I guess it's being used in an anti-material capacity to make sure that the deckman's components are thoroughly destroyed so that surface-dwellers aren't able to reverse-engineer Zalemite technology.
