Did Don Rosa ever revealed the father of the triplets?
His name is Decimal Duck
for me, it's Sir Swamphole
>Dirty Dingus
Chad Duck
They'd just ruin it with Ducktales crap to please the am*ricans
Ducktales was kino though
Kill yourself pleb.
Seething
Nah. The duck comics by Barks and Rosa were the definitive duck works. Ducktales is crap that caters to american plebs. Italian artists like Vicar, Al Taliaferro, Romano Scarpa etc. get an honorary mention here, but they can never reach the levels of Barks and Rosa
please don't imagine poor Don Rosa rolling in his grave when he sees his poor ducks cgi'd into oblivion
>the McDuck family name will die out with Scrooge
This is sad
>Don Rosa rolling in his grave
He's not even dead. He's only 67 for g-d's sake
That's only for non-European fans who know less about Barks or Rosa.
my nigga. I had a hardcopy of the Life and Times of Scrooge Mcduck in my family home, probably one of the best comic books ever written. They would probably butcher Scrooge though because he's basically everything the left hates
oh fuck my bad. But is he still making stuff though?
>exotic chiles
wtf
>Italian artists like Vicar
>will die out
You mean died out.
i can't believe scrooge mcduck is fucking dead
And I thought Rosa is on a warpath with Disney because they treated him like crap and he went nearly blind.
>Ryan Goose
Good, there's no one worthy of picking up the mantle
>oh fuck my bad. But is he still making stuff though?
Nah, he retired years ago due to his eyesight getting considerably worse.
ONLY if it includes a series about the adventures of Lil' Donald AKA Paperino Papperoto, one of the most soulful pieces of art ever made
>Betty Lou reminds me so much of her it both makes me laugh and cry
Hugh Laurie as Scrooge McDuck
>everywhere but in the USA
Why do Americans love Mouse cock so much?
>Matilda is not Gladstone's mother
AYO, WHAT THE FUCK!?
He's still gotta make money from convention appearances and shit. Disney doesn't really pay royalties.
damn thats too bad. Scrooge's golden arc (where he mined in alaska) is kino enough to be adapted into one movie, but it has to be 2d cell though
It should be live action. Young women have been practicing duckface for years
haha!
Everything from Rosa organized by year + some Barks stuff
mega.nz
Uploaded for some anons years ago and I still had the link.
>yfw Scrooge is litterally a rip-off of Citizen Kane
God I fucking hate most of those Italian hacks and their terrible art. Rota and Taliaferro were the only good ones out of that bunch.
I love you, user.
Scrooge mined and had adventures to become rich
Kane got a mine out of luck that happened to have gold, got raised in luxury by Thatcher, and then built an empire based on Yellow Journalism
Wait, Fethry and Donald are related? Also, has Don Rosa ever actually written anything with Fethry? I thought only the Italians used him.
Didn't Don say he was an absentee father ? The nephews put him in the hospital before being forced to live with Donald
I guess the firecracker prank could have killed him but that's pretty dark for a duck cartoon.
>what happened to The Nephews parents ??
I always took it as "cartoon time" even though Donald has been looking after the kids for decades in real time ...they have only been there a few months in their time (they never Age)
Fuck off, Lil Donald is great!
Just like Spaghetti Westerns it talks better and more truly about America than most American shit
Barks and Rosa were Americans. It's Europeans that gave Donald Duck a superhero persona and put Della on the moon
editor interference, rosa didn't want him on there
this looks like the retarded extreme moe manga
This is a cursed image and I don't want to believe that this happened. Scrooge is still around.
>Wait, Fethry and Donald are related?
Of course, they call each other cousin, just like Gladstone
>Also, has Don Rosa ever actually written anything with Fethry?
Not at all. He is not part of the Barks Canon, just in that tree to please Italy
A duck I wanna fuck
on another note, what the FUCK ever happened to goofy? he was a regular 50's man in the golden age animations and they just devolved him into a retard?
Editor forced him to use fethery
Just like they didn't alllow him to use Donald's mom (she's dead) but could use his aunt
Just horrible, horrible art. Looks like it was drawn by a 14-year-old.
>everything that isn't American is manga
>the drawings are different, therefore it is bad
explain this shit
He was a retard before those 50's animations, so they just returned him back to his roots.
Paperino Paperotto is substance over style. The style is the same as most Italian comics, but the stories themselves, which is what matters most, are much, much better
Jar Jar effect : older writers think kids want a bumbling moron main character for laughs.
>aryan dog
>jew dog
This is a left-wing pic
Well that first page certainly doesn't create a good first impression of the writing, either.
don't kinkshame
>the virgin duck universe
>THE CHAD ZÉ CARIOCA WORLD
why do Mickey Mouse and his crew never appear in the duck comics?
Time to post this. Yes, Don Rosa made this.
They live in Ratopolis, Donald lives in Patopolis
It's heavily implied that Scrooge ends up banging her later on in the story.
7-1
No, Donald and Scrooge live in Duckburg.
It’s called Patopolis in America? They live in “Duck City” in my country.
Yeah, Disney still likes to pretend that all the comics are drawn by Disney. I recall an interview with Carl Barks, where he said, his neighbors were genuinely surprised to learn that Walt didn't actually draw all those Disney comics.
what the fuck?
No, it's Duckburg in America.
Reminder that Daisy is Donald’s secret half sister and their “relationship” is just a way for them to con Gladstone out of money by pretending to be competition.
isnt it calisota?
Back in the day, Disney wanted to give Mickey a companion that could talk back and Pluto was evolved into Goofy. They then later on decided that it would be nice to have a dog as well, so they brought Pluto back.
Is he autistic?
As someone who knows nothing of Donald Duck lore aside from what I saw in Kingdom Hearts when I was like 7, I thought they were married.
just how powerful is he?
>raising your sister's children
more like Donal KEK
Rosa was an underground cartoonist before he went corporate. That's why he's actually pretty good at writing stuff.
Fin.
That is the state where Duckburg is located in.
Country: USA.
State: Calisota.
City: Duckburg.
Childhood is idolizing Don Rosa, adulthood is realizing that William van Horn makes more sense.
NL?
I guess we'll never find out.
>grandma goose roasted gus
holy shit
>William van Horn
His stuff is comfy but it doesn't even come close to Rosa.
Holy shit thank you, time to delve back into my childhood for a while.
>yfw you realize that Pepe is part of the Duck universe
Do you think he would be offended if somebody only wanted to buy a chile or two?
He'd probably be more excited about that than just another nerd wanting an autograph.
Yes, but their main audience was europeans anyways.
>Granddaughter of Glittering Goldie
OC Donutsteel-tier
>Disney still likes to pretend that all the comics are drawn by Disney
At least in Finland they give due credit to the artists and writers for each story.
In the comics they're sorta dating, but sorta not. Most of the time Daisy just cucks Donald with Gladstone. Its really messed up. Generally classic Duck comics are misogynist as fuck (not complaining, just stating the fact).
He hates The Mouse. Truly /our guy/
Doub it
right, mostly translation stuff. Scrooge is " Gober duck" in my language
damn, even in every batman it still says "created by bob Kane." never seen that in a disney comic
>Sneeds's Feed and Seed.
>formerly Duck's
what did they mean by this?
Kino
Hopefully you guys haven’t forgotten this absolute kino
>Gretchen Grebe
oy vey
Life and Times storytime WHEN?
>implying the Mouse takes that seriously
wasn't the new Ducktales pretty lackluster?
I only saw the pilot and it was devoid of anything interesting in respect to story or characters. fookin MLP was more suited for adult viewers than that
>At least in Finland they give due credit to the artists and writers for each story.
I refuse to believe "Vicar" isn't the name of some Chinese sweatshop where they force orphans to draw duck comics
Italo-Disney capeshit please
Based thread
The vidya based on it was fucking great.
D-Delet this!
t: Finn
but it is literally Citizen Kane
>"The arch villain, Phantom Blot! Let's unmask him by surprise"
>sells his family business to draw Donald Duck fan fiction full time
Is Don Rosa mentally ill?
Maybe a little bit, but in the best way possible.
His "fan fiction" is some of the best duckverse stuff there is.
HBO adaption when?!
Dump it
Will he be played by Idris Elba?
He is famous in Brazil. There is a character in the comics here that I guess no one knows. Hard Raid Moe. The redneck human that for some reason exists in a universe of anthropomorphic animals.
I gotta reread this next chance I get
>Fethry and Donald are related?
I thought it was common knowledge they are cousins?
>Hard Raid Moe
Never heard of him and google doesn't seem to know him. More info/pics?
>Fanny Coot
how did they get away with this?
>Wait, Fethry and Donald are related? Also, has Don Rosa ever actually written anything with Fethry? I thought only the Italians used him.
Yes, they are. He was even featured in a recent episode of DuckTales.
Those are characters I can't imagine having sex. Besides, these ducks lay eggs or have births?
ol' Don got away with a lot of things.
Like the sex scene with Scrooge and Goldie
Mauricio de Sousa from Monica's gang does the same thing. Up until the 90's the artists self inserted in the comics and the characters mentioned their names. Now it's the new retarded memes from 2011 and cringe dialogue written by people that have no idea how kids talk.
>Besides, these ducks lay eggs or have births?
They definitely lay eggs according to DuckTales.
For me, it's dirty dingus mcduck
The music was amazing
did dirty dingus smash some loli puss?
Listen to this then. Disney is wasting time . The comic can be the storyboard, the music is already done. Just do the series.
m.youtube.com
Carl Barks was mentally ill proto-furry
>ducks, geese and chickens are somehow genetically compatible with offspring
What is it about Don Rosa's Donald that made it REALLY stand out from the rest?
He made Disney characters fuck.
For me its the art. I always skipped the stories that looked shitty when reading the comics. I also skipped all the Mickey shit.
Donald used to be friends with Mickey but now he hates him
The art style, plus he's a romantic genius
you guys remember when Scrooge goes to Africa and cheats some tribe out of their sacred lands in his only act of dishonesty, and the medicine man summons a creature that follows him for decades, representing his guilt?
reading that as a kid was so amazing
never shied away from making the characters suffer and having to take hard decisions that would change their lives forever
he's the sole reason scrooge is a real character, unlike mickey who's just a poster boy for disney
Scrooge McDuck. It's a dark story.
What tools does Don Rosa ink his comics with?
Oh, that guy. Really shit. The stories were mostly
>Fethry brings Hard Haid Moe into Donald's life with a retarded get rich quick scheme
>Fethry's scheme goes to crap
>Donald is left to deal with the consequences
He was a construction engineer so a lot of his art was influenced by technical drawings. Also his stories were gritty as fuck at times.
I wish there was a better scan of this I would print it off. Kudos to Rosa for this tribute to Hal Foster.
I think Barks inked on a 20x30" page, but sketched out page outlines on B5 paper.
What mech pencil is this?
why are ducks so comfy bros
Has Don Rosa ever come to the Toronto Comic Arts Festival?
Yeah. Never got why he even had his own comic.
Not to sound ungrateful because this is a huge gift, but per chance do you not have this one in English?
Mostly technical pens. He is has a degree in civil engineering, so he said at some interview that he's been accustomed of drawing with technical pens.
Because Normie Mouseberg are for plebs
Why is Gladstone Gander so despised?
>Content with life
>Accepts what life has to offer
>Isn't envious of others
what is wrong with yanks? Its uncensored when I first viewed it in my language
>Angus "Plothole" McDuck
>constantly trying to get in Daisy's pants.
Yes and so? He has money unlike Donald Cuck
>acting like a dick to others
Della Duck just got with a regular ass duck?
Since when does he act like a dick?
He is lucky and is content with it. Donald Duck is always angry and envious what others have.
Disney is constantly cleaning inconvenient stuff from their old works so that parent's wont get upset (despite it's those same parents who have spent their childhoods consuming the same stuff).
They've eradicated a lot of references to smoking, alcohol, foul language and what not.
people see Daisy as Donald's girl despite it's somewhat obvious she hasn't yet made her mind which of the suitors she likes better.
>Pokemon and Sonic blow up at the box office
>DIsney pulls Lucas out of retirement to direct a Castle McDuck flick
I still wish Indiana Jones went to a Scottish castle instead of the Temple of Doom
what are you on about? Gladstone always makes it a point that he is so damn lucky to everyone, including Donald and Scrooge
>He is lucky and is content with it. Donald Duck is always angry and envious what others have.
That's why he's funny dumbass, would you want an angelic Donald Duck? And Gyro is where it's at btw
he's called Professor Sparrow in my language and he is based
Their father is Daffy Duck
>Lulubelle Loon
What did they mean by this?
There's no way that dude wasn't dropping some heavy shit. Love all his stuff
>shonen anime Donald
>loli SoL anime Donald
based Italy
Did all those literally whos on the right side ever appear in the comics or are they just made up for this family tree?
Don't forget based plane autist.
>triplets' mom is named Duck
>their father as well
wtf
as far as I remember we never saw Huey, Dewey and Lewey's mom.
what does Donald do for a living anyway?
Della? She was in Life and Times of Scrooge.
I just remember how pronounced his shadows were compared to other duck artists. How is he a plane autist?
He does whatever job he is hired for a lot of the stories are
>Donald gets a job/starts a business
>Donald is good at job/his business does well
>Donald's chronic bad luck causes him to fuck up
>Donald escapes to Timbuktu to avoid the wrath of the people of Duckburg/Uncle Scrooge
Packs margarine
>How is he a plane autist?
An exaggeration, but he has a few stories centered on planes featuring Stukas etc.
lol this is his actual job in Finland?
In Italy he's more like a NEET, at least in the older comics, I have no idea what happened in the last 15 years or so
was she? My memory of her stems back from the early RKO cartoons where she dropped the triplets at Donald's (and he lives in Hollywood for some reason)
As a kid I always imagined he worked for scrooge whenever he could
he's more like his slave, Scrooge forces him ot work to repay his debts
The margarine factory is his fallback job. I don't know if it was one specific writer or several of them who went with it.
Just a few squared with her and Donald as kids. Not sure if we ever saw her as an adult.
Also, this is only in the magazine. The margarine factory doesn't make any appearances in the Italian stories that are published in pocket books IIRC.
I'm italian and in our local Disney magazine he never had a stable job (except superhero of course)
I always liked him more than Glomgold, interesting how Rockerduck is more popular in europe despite being an american reference
Those are probably the ones we get in pocket books then. Paperinik, Indiana Goofy, Detective Mickey, most of the adventure stuff where Scrooge competes with Rockerduck and such are confined in the pocket books. Or at least were, I haven't really read any in the last 15 years either.
Man, I miss these old Don Rosa comics. I should read them again some time.
Fun fact: the margarine factory in the Finnish translations is named "Catburg's margarine factory". Its a joke based on a scandal in Finland where margarine makers were found to use grease from dead feline corpses to make margarine.
Didn't he make a small appearance in the Life of Times? Like his dad and a child version of Rockerduck ran into Scrooge and Rockerduck Sr. told Scrooge that he needed to start disciplining the kid.
I really wonder why they had a split in the stories? Could it be story length?
Glomgold was rare as fuck in our magazine, Rockerduck was the usual villain together with Amelia and the Beagle Boys
what do you mean by pocket books? All those characters appeared in the weekly magazine here
This guy was Scrooge's rival in most stories I ever read. Hardly even remember Glomgold.
yes he did. Although I'm mostly referring to their money measuring contests that ended in him eating his hat.
Also is everybody in this thread mostly European? I'm Indonesian but our disney publications (weekly donald duck comics) had a mostly European influence
Duck comics are mega popular in europe, especially in Northern Europe and Finland. This thread is probably like 70% Finns
>what do you mean by pocket books?
Pocket sized books with roughly 250 pages and 5 to 6 longer stories. Very popular in Norway and I collected them as a kid.
Why is Italy so obsessed with ducks?
because Mickey & co. fucking suck mate
same. I have about 200 of those. also got a lot of those weekly magazines. they have shorter stories, but the quality is a bit higher.
fuck its interesting that we're halfway across the world but read the same thing
Gober is the Indonesian translation for Scrooge, although idk why
Don Rosa is the pic related of Donald
>Dirty Dingus McDuck
I just found my new gamer handle
We have similar things in the Netherlands, must have 100+ of the at my parents house.
10/10 comfy and read them loads of times
>Gober :D
No, that would be Kari Korhonen
>what do you mean by pocket books? All those characters appeared in the weekly magazine here
In Finland there is the monthly Donald Duck's Pocket Book which contains Italian stories apparently from "Topolino", whatever that is. The weekly Donald Duck magazine contains stuff from other countries (also stuff from Italian artists, but usually not in the same "continuity" as the Topolino stuff I think).
We also have the "mammoth" books with 512 pages. Those things blew my mind when they first appeared.
I want to FUCK Don Rosa's art.
ah now I get it, Topolino is the main weekly magazine (it means Mickey in italian, although one could argue that Donald is actually the main star)
Finland here. We also have pocket books. We have "double pocket books" which are twice the size and I think 3-4 years ago they started releasing "triple pocket books" which were trice the size.
Same here, probably all the same stories but localized.
I remember one writer/drawer always remaking German stories and referencing shit like Mozart, his art was a bit meh but recognizable
what are your weekly magazines like? ours are like this, delivered with sunday papers
its a mess.
Did non-french fags have something similar to the Couac? It' was absolute kino.
they're like this. The stories are very often linked to italian culture though, so I doubt they'd translate well abroad
Found a picture of my Donald Pocket collection roughly 2002. Still have them, but they tucked away in boxes somewhere.
The little pictures they formed were great
hmm IIRC our comics had a lot of European artist and I always find them amusing and funny so maybe there wasn't too much that is lost in translation. Of course it helped that our translators can be very liberal with it, I remember some of my belgian (lucky luke, police agent 313) comics had a fair share of swear words in it
i've like 400 of those
Nice, I have most of the first 250, but kinda lost interest after that.
how about I make YOU a mess?
for context, this is the first number, released in 1949
i think i collected the first 300 of the finnish ones and rest are random numbers
that's what he gets for being an incel
>Grundle Duck
>all these filthy disgusting europeasants spewing their incomprehensible moonspeak at each other
Learn American you degenerate retards or go back to whatever shithole foreign website you crawled out of.
It's accurate though. Where else in the world would one pay 100€ in order to prevent his neighbour from earning 50€?
t. another Finn
>what do you mean by pocket books?
Don't everyone get these?
Famous as shit in my country
Is there a single character in all of fiction who could take on angry Scrooge in his prime?
I had similar longer booklets but the most popular magazine is the weekly one
barks/rosa universe would be unironically kino
only nips do trad animation though so it will never happen
(cgi ducks is out of the question)
>an american proud of the fact he doesn't know a second language
Nothing out of the ordinary here
Canonically Teddy Roosevelt
Donald is in fact their father.
Donald might have a chance, depending on the situation.
he didn't win
>Bromis me Bonald :DDD
Yeah but the nephews will carry on in his spirit.
He has shown to be an even match with Scrooge before. He has a good chance.
I remember as a kid I would skip many of the Mickey stories because they were kinda dull, but I absolutely loved that fantasy saga in three parts where he and Goofy are transported to some other dimension where they have to defeat some evil guy with a Darth Vader-ish mask. There was also this Merlin-like wizard and in the second part the world had become really futuristic because time moved much faster there. Anyone else remember this story?
Absolutely based, thank you for the link.
explain THIS shit
the alternate world or historical long stories with Mickey and Goofy were kino.
Yes, this is the one I'm talking about. Any idea what it's called in English.
I’ve only ever read Don Rosa’s stories in Danish. All of these names are weird and I don’t like them and they suck and they’re trash.
no idea, I thought it was an italian exclusive
QUACKED.COM
>That one story where they use a giant dome to dry up THE FUCKING OCEAN FLOOR
But she doesn't wear any pants?
I read it in Finnish so it's definitely ton exclusive, no idea if it's ever been translated to English. Do Brits even read Donald comics?
I see your Donald Duck and raise you a Katzenjammer Kid
>literally OBSESSED with an unfaithful gold-digger
that one is great
>the 12 part Zodiac story with the Ducks and Mickey spanning two pocket books
It has happened a few times, but they arent exactly friends
Why are all the kids girls?
>ultimate battle starts playing
Found it. It's called The Icesword Saga or Sword of Ice.
Does anyone remember the one where Scrooge smuggles opium in oranges or did I dream that one?
holy shit I completely forgot about that one
This was fucking amazing, i had the first part to this as a kid, probably read it a million times
kino ducktails thread
Meh. I prefer OG Ducktales to the original comics for one reason: Donald isn't in it.
In the comics he's the perennial butt monkey and I never liked the contrast he creates with Scrooge. I always thought "ffs just for once give him a happy ending" but no, Scrooge always screws him over in favour of some stupid morality tale for the audience and I hate that. By removing Donald from the equation, you're instead left with Scrooge's relationship with the nephews which is significantly less negative.
>Sverige
Swede-user here
We've really been down on our luck lately, fellas..
that's the reason why Donald is such a kino character
This brings me back, my granddad used to have almost all the christmas books at his place, comfy memories reading them in his hammock.
Tyrone Crow
Sowrd of Ice, literally same as in Italian.
It seems like they are available on comixology for 8$ for all 4 volumes.
wtf is this canon?
Looks like it's real
Holy shit nostalgia. That was KINO. I agree its the only good Mickey story worth reading.
It a Rosa story from a Fanzine
He had other good stuff as well, like these crime/noir detective stories.
legend, anything for the money he truly doenst give a fuck
Nah sorry man. I think I have those physically in my parents home somewhere. This one and the other where they all make a telenovela.
On another topic I was looking if I could find the mickey mystery magazine series (I think that's what they're called in english) but I could only find italian rips
>scrooge only living to be a hundred years old
As long as there's gold and other riches in the world, he'll even outlive the fucking nephews.
the Flying Dutchman was top tier
basert
He's too stubborn to die.
Played by Aidan Gillen
Well then. Guess I need to go through my parents attic or wherever to see if I can find a physical copy. Been meaning to catalog all of it anyways.

do zoomers even read these comics? I think Topolino is selling less and less each year
the comparison is more about his smugness and arrogance, not his luck
Yeah, that creatury scared the shit out of me.
people here would hate that story if it came out today
I liked the Mickey Outwits the Phantom Blot story.
Why was Daffy black?
I’ll bet $10 he’s Canadian
>that Indiana Jones-ish Don Rosa story where they go to this temple full of traps to find a big diamond or something
Born in Louisville, Kentucky
Holy shit, I thought I was the only one that read these.
They were so fucking surprisingly gritty.
Some had affairs, corruption or straight up murders.
The one in india?
Just a human walking a domesticated monkey
Fucking Disney also gave him fucking pennies for his incredible life work, fuck disney.
This guy deserves a statue.
Pretty sure it's this one:
Yup, that's the one.
God, I really should try to find my old comic books.

>that one Don Rosa comic that had a two page blueprint of Scrooge's Money Bin
Anyone read the kino story where they're playing D&D? Donald is a knight, Goofy a wizard and Mickey is a thief, the rat

I used to study that for hours.

New thread when?
My nigger.
That map was so detailed and informative, and I'm pretty sure the entire story it's from (as well as all of Don's stories feturing the money bin) are accurate to it.
Autism is one hell of a drug, and gives fantastic results when placed in the right hands.
At least a couple of Duck stories are Indiana Jones-ish, makes sense Lucas did read them as a kid.
They inspired me as well. I made my own duck and mouse families and wrote a whole bunch of stories when I was like 10 to 12 years old. Just text though, since I sucked at drawing.
Lives off his Navy veteran's benefits.
Duck stories got me into drawing when i was a kid, but I'm mediocre at best and didn't have any inspiration on writing my own
Excellent thread, lads. It's been an honor posting with you today.
