To be fair, many medieval armies heavily used serf Pikemen. They were generally untrained and just used as front line infantry.
If you weren't a serf you wouldn't want to be an infantry front line pikeman. However, if you could theoretically create a trained squad of Pikemen who didn't give a fuck, it would actually be a very effective military regiment. Serf Pikemen are effective, but don't really give a fuck and are just there because they have to be and would rather not risk their lives to be canon fodder.

To wield a Pike you don't need to be super jacked, just stab shit. They all wear light armor and light shields. If you don't need high t do to that.

Pike units are/were fucking deadly and were becoming increasingly over relied upon my armies until the advent of gunpowder. If you hole a few thousands trained and disciplined pikemen inside a castle it's basically fucking impenetrable unless you plan to starve them out over the course of months.
