he cute
I know right?
I watched the first episode of this and it struck me as an animated series that didn't make use of its medium. It was directed as if it were a live-action show. Am I right in thinking this?
Yes, you are. It's mostly story, like an animated novel.
>mfw it's a revolutionary leader dies episode
It was directed first and foremost to be a faithful adaption of the source material.
>mfw it's an Iserlohn episode
Holy shit do you have any more of these?
>tfw I've watched all episodes
>tfw i barely remember even their names
Also, i request pic with all characters standing in the row with some champagne and sort of dancing
A few.
someone other than a barely closeted fag who strikes a business deal to impregnate his secretary for the sole purpose of siring an heir
e.g. blessed Yang Wen Li
There's is anything like this? Books?
how bad is the 2018 remake of this? I heard its kind of faithful to the original series but its only 12 episodes. not sure if its worth checking out before rewatching the original
I think Lelouch is probably the best protagonist ever.
...
I heard it's shit, haven't seen it though
Ikari Shinji
>protagonist
Shinji is a whiny bitch.
it was expected to be hyper shit and it just turned out to be a tiny bit shit - like 6/10
its different enough from the og story that i think its worth watching and the cgi is actually pretty reasonable when you compare it to nu-berserk and other modern cgi shitfests
its not a must see at this point - but i think there is good reason to hope that the rest of the series will be decent because they are doing it in movie form and that should make for some kino shots
IF ONLY YOU WERE HERE, KIRCHEIS
first episode seemed decent enough so I'll probably continue watching. yeah I read there's 3 movies coming out this year or something, honestly I don't think I can be fucked watching the 100+ episodes again so this might suffice
I just can't get over how fucking ugly they made everyone except the women and maybe Yang in certain shots. Everyone else looks fucking awful. Kircheis looks like an alien in some scenes with two holes instead of a nose
yeah thinking back on that i probably shoulda said 5/10 because they really fucked with the designs
this entire show is some major fag shit desu
YELLOW FONT
That's not true at all. The 1980s series takes massive liberties immediately from the first episode. There's an argument to be made that it's better than the original books, but being a faithful adaptation was always a low priority on the list. What the 2018 version covers is already far more faithful than the 1980s.
Yang > Reinhard.
>Top 10 LOGH characters
Yang
Reuenthal
Oberstein
Reinhard

Attenborough

Merkatz

I am morbidly curious to see a western produced live action LoGH
this guy gets it
I still wanna fuck loli Fred tho
Is DNT bad? I don't expect it to be as good as the original OVA, but how is it?
Frederica is kind of a cute.
>no imperial perspective
>rebels fightin for a cause
>blond nazi man bad
It's a good watch for its length. Not sure how I'd feel about it if I hadn't seen the original though.
see
It's alright.
It's like The Shining 1980 vs The Shining 1997. Newer one is a more faithful adaptation of the novels and the girl is cuter, but the original is still better.
Animation obviously looks smoother, but general character design went down the shitter. Characters like Frederica look qt but others look horrible.
I've never related to a character more.
Except I'm not a tactical genius afaik.
Dude half circles lmao
The Empire would have black people
>choose your ship
Unpopular opinion but I actually consider it better than the OVAs on what it covers, but it doesn't even complete the first book and doesn't end on any satisfying spot. I started the series on the books though, so I have a bias to the more faithful adaptation.
I'd still recommend the OVA over DNT despite what I said just because you get a full product. DNT severely needs its first movie at least before it's worth investing time into because even if you like it, you'll be forced to watch the OVA from the beginning to get caught up on the changes made, or pick up the first novel from a chapter near the end which is silly as hell.
Yang was pretty based. He just wanted to read about military semicircles as a comfy NEET but he was forced time and time again to do his patriotic duty of forming semicircles to BTFO space prussians.
What's the one with the obnoxiously long Aztec name?
its unfortunate that we never got a full OVA adaptation of arslan senki, they only made like 6 episodes. the tv anime was pretty good but it didnt capture the feel of the books nearly as well.
Where can I watch this? Seems like a pretty good show.
That would be the good old Tlahuixcalpantecuhtli.

I just started rewatching last night
Imagine being assigned to that ship. Imagine having to try and pronounce the name every day
Laughing at the new crewmen who can't pronounce the name. Have a game where you take turns taking shots and saying the name until you fuck it up. Sounds comfy desu.

I've only read the first three books, but since Yang was so bluepilled for supporting democracy I was rooting for Reinhard. Seemed like Reinhard's character got a lot more boring after Kircheist died. Does Reinhard ever become reinvigorated and less depressed again later in the series?
no_
>he cute
you don't know the half of it
notice how no one is talking about how cute the girls are, and fanservice. anime should've stopped here. anything in the 2000s has that degenerate pandering to waifu kids
AHH don't remind me
I cannot argue that
that is a perfect list
That's bullshit though, top 5 goes
>Oberstein
>Yang
>Reinhard
>Kessler(fucking fight me, I know he was a minor character but still great)
>Reuenthal
Harry Potter.
Here's the picture you are looking for my friend.
Sieg Kaiser Reinhardo btw
because everyone already knows that Bittenfeld is the cutest you retard
Amaritzer was the best battle
was about to request this one. first time watching that cultist jumping down and breaking his dagger couldn't stop me laughing
Even as a Reinhardfag I gotta admit that's a pretty based list.
but
>Attenborough above Schenkopp
>Merkatz even being in the Top 10
kek
damn that was fucking sad when K died
too bad... If I continued to book four I'd have probably switched to supporting Yang simply because Reinhard became so depressing. He could no longer feel good and optimistic about conquering the galaxy so it was like he just started operating on autopilot thinking "sure why not continue anyways even though my heart has been ripped out and I feel totally empty inside".
Yang is likable enough so he certainly ranks above post-Kirchheist Reinhard, but I don't see any reason to continue reading since I don't give a shit about the fate of the government that Yang is defending. Yang himself doesn't seem to take the stakes very seriously, with his reluctance and just being someone who accidentally became a hero who would really rather retire.
I never got why merkatz continued to fight against the empire. He knew that the goldenbaum dynasty was full of retards
The ending ranks amongst the finest of writing rivaling even literature.
lindelof level writing
The old OVA has such a romantic feel to it. It's a real shame it is so short.
>Alexander the Great in Space
Well was it Yea Forums? Was it based? Was it redpilled?
Thanks, but it was cropped. Found full by Yandex search.
Youtube bro
Never forget what could have been.
It was one of few things that Japan made by gold hand and not arse.
yang becomes more disillusioned with the FPA as the series goes on, they even try to arrest and execute him so he forms his own rogue unit
That sounds interesting enough, I think I'll checkout the anime and forget about the books.
oshit I didn't know that, saved.
Literally the best protagonist of the medium
Yang is a better character in the OVA because they switched a lot of his monologues to scenes of him talking to other characters
>Kircheis with the new Imperial uniform design & cape
Sitolet was based. Actually all of the FPA Negroids are pretty cool.
(((Job))) Truhnit on the other hand...
This thread would be better, if only...
Their names are hard to remember, so that is understandable for a brainlet. Im one myself so i know how you feel.
>This thread would be better, if only...
If only Truniht was here!
Yang Wen-li

Can you stop shilling this on Yea Forums, you fucking mongoloid? Are you trying to bring capeshit wars to logh?
>Cucks
>based
LoGH is pretty naturally normie repellent. The western normie cannot handle the concept of a democracy having flaws, or that autocracy has some merits.
They'd have the unironic jump to Empire = Nazis and run away screaming.
Liking LoGH is one of the few times Yea Forums has good tastes.

is anime okay or is manga the only way?
Is Julian a mary sue?
To understand Akagi at all I strongly suggest that you learn the rules to parlor mahjongg and play it for a while before you consume either. Manga is more comprehensive and anime is more accessible.
Yes but it's okay.
What the fuck do you mean? It makes use of its medium just right considering that a live-action LOGH equivalent of the same quality and scale is nigh impossible. Not every anime needs to look like End of Evangelion or Madoka. It wouldn't even fit LOGH tonally or visually. It looks exactly how it needs to.
gineipaedia.com
There are a lot more episodes than I expected, for some reason I was under the impression it was much more abbreviated.. I'm feeling hyped for it now even though I know what happens up until book three. Expecting kino.
Muh public education told me democracy was good and the end of history, I've never independently pondered political theory why would I question what my professors espoused. We're obviously all very happy living under democracy, I mean it's we the people ruling after all so what else would you expect. We have high standards of living and rights and obviously democracy is to thank for that.
kind of, but not much. there is no mary sue in the series
For today anime standards it's actually 7/10 (character designs are horrible for younger cast, old admirals were done by another artist and look good) but when you compare it to old series it just all crumbles.
t. weeaboo brainlet
Anyone else watched the show with their family? I originally watched the show, movies and OVAs by myself, then rewatched it all again with my mom. Her favorite characters are Kircheis, Reuenthal and Schenkopf. We're also watching DNT but neither of us are overly fond of it. I've asked her to rewatch the series with me again, but she refuses since she cannot bear losing them all again.
Code Geass is the best-written comedy of all time.
The chapters it covered were the weakest in the story, so it did quite well with what it had to work with. Where it mainly lacks is character designs, ship designs and soundtrack. I think if they covered the rest of the story in the same vein then it would be a really solid adaptation overall. I was afraid it would be total disaster but now I wouldn't mind a full adaptation like the OVAs. Certainly that would help bring fresh blood to the fandom and introduce people to a different kind of anime compared to the shonenshit, isekaishit, mechashit and moeshit they're used to.
Julian is a shit character though
There's very little spectacle in LOTGH, it can easily be done in live action if any rich retard wanted to fund a very dry space opera series.
The weird thing that bothers me about LOTGH is that, in the background of any space battle there are hundreds of ships with hundreds of people manning them blowing up all the time, but nobody seems to care too much. Like even a small skirmish must have thousands, maybe tens of thousands dead on each side, while yang orders some brandy for his tea. Really fucking weird.
Yang does become an alcoholic to deal with the guilt, Reinhard is just a pure killer who loves battle.
>There's very little spectacle in LOTGH
Keep watching.
>it can easily be done in live action if any rich retard wanted to fund a very dry space opera series.
You could say the same thing of any other anime live action adaptation if a rich retard were to fund it. Although I disagree that it would be easy. The logistics of faithfully replicating LOGH in live action would be absolute nightmare. Even if you were to CGI most of it. Good luck finding a director and crew that could pull it off.
Anyone else feel like LoGH squandered its potential in the last third of the series?
Reinhard didn't develop much as a character after conquering the Alliance, and the end of the series was just a pileup of plot devices. People die from plot device illnesses and the Terraists are one big plot device; they have whatever resources and abilities they need to in order to make the plot work. They had apparently massively infiltrated the Empire's military, but then they quickly get reduced to a handful of stragglers making suicidal attacks.
The natural end for Reinhard's character arc would be for him to go off the rails without Kircheis and end up finally defeated. One of the really unbelievable things was how after he consolidated his power, there was no political strife within the empire. He had stripped a bunch of nobles of their power and was on the other side of the galaxy fighting an expensive war, someone would have started stirring shit quickly under those circumstances. There was even a scene where Rubinsky was plotting against Reinhard with some disaffected nobles, but nothing really came of it.
It would have been more fulfilling for both the Alliance and Empire to fall and then new governments to rise in their wake, but it seems like Tanaka became a Reinhard fanboy. Was the ending any different in the books?
I was definitely losing interest around then
what a retarded speedwatcher post
There isn't that much variety in the ships, you could do it with a handful of ship sets. The planets are also pretty generic, most could be shot in city locations or European estates for the Empire locations. The armored infantry battles would be the main live action thing that'd be tough to shoot.
Killer argument bro
Cast them
Yeah the last 20 or so episodes are pretty ridiculous with how often the writer drags out plot threads they stopped giving a shit about just to put 2 slugs in the back of their head (literally with ol' Job). I fell off Reinhard and the Empire hard after he trounced all of his drooling, inbred nobility antagonists and went full unga against Yang (his whole strategy in the first major battle just being to stack bodies between him and Yang because of his numerical superiority)
The reason why LOTGH would need an especially rich retard is that its absolutely impossible to condense it without losing what makes it special, which is the long running character ggrowth. it would need like 4 seasons to even get traction, and no studio would touch that. GoT kills off so many characters in the first few episodes that it has built in heat.
Also, CG spaceship explosions haven't been a specticle in like 20 years, and most of LOTGH drama comes from battleplan semi-circles outsemicircling other semi-circles. There's one battle where someone realizes you can move in the Z-axis in space, they win, and its never brought up again.
