3x3 thread

It's friday. Let's kick off the weekend with a 3x3 thread. Ask for titles if you're interested in something you don't recognize and remember to rate others.

What are the middle, top right and bottom left?

Also, this just looks like a pretty random assortment of films with no real unity. I find it hard to believe these are your actual 9 favourite films.

>What are the middle
Ed Wood
>top right
Sunset Boulevard
>bottom left
Come and See

what a bizarre statement. are all your favorites in the same genre? from the same period? do they all have the same themes? good on this guy for watching and liking lots of different stuff.

>Also, this just looks like a pretty random assortment of films with no real unity
I don't see why there should be. You don't really choose your favourites. Out of the films I've watched these are the ones I have a strongest connection to (often in different ways). If I gave you a top 50 maybe you'd see the groupings or whatever a bit clearer.

>Ed Wood, Alice & Fellowship
Pure enjoyment. They just make me happy.
>Shining & Alien
My favourite horror films, a genre I love. Maybe a bit basic but they're hard to beat regardless of how many others I watch.
>Sunset Boulevard
I love films with strong, distinct characters that are enjoyable and charming to watch. I guess Ed Wood could be included here as well. I'm a huge fan of Gloria Swanson.
>Come and See, Jeanne d'Arc
Strong emotional effect, changed my view on the potential of film as a medium. These also have lots of brilliant closeups which I have a soft spot for, especially when it comes to my emotional connection to characters who go through misery.
>Oldboy
Just a really entertaining thriller. I enjoy heightened reality and surrealism which I think this taps into (see: Alice). Also a lot of dark humor and irony.

I can't really explain it but it would be dishonest of me to disregard any of them just to have some arbitrary sense of unity. And as I've hopefully explained there are connections between at least some of these.

You don’t even know three of them.

Just made my first 3x3. Would love to be r8ted boys.

No real order to mine, just stuff I've watched recently, some I've seen before and some I haven't

Top left looks interesting, what is it? Ed Wood and Sunset Boulevard are classics.
Pretty good, what did you think of Inherent Vice?
Great mix of comedy and drama

Top left corner?

"Harakiri" is the top left film

Fun mix of experimental stuff on yours, dude.

Also, I love Inherent Vice. Had an obsession with picking apart the themes and visual storytelling since the moment I saw it in 2014. Remember looking to my friends and telling them, "I'm going to be talking about that shit for the rest of my life."

yeah, it's Freddys Revenge, don't worry I'm not gay
