this was quite important tho, Bond actually has to take Silva off of his home turf. if the whole film had been set in Skyfall it would be terrible but this plays an important role, and i think it's quite effective. the same theme is picked up in Spectre as well: what happens when the intelligence community itself goes sour and flips inside out?

again, he's bringing Silva out of his own element. terrorists and hackers can be anywhere in the city. they don't do so well in the equivalent of a medieval siege. even with choppers and grenades. it's not a terrible idea to move the battle there.

it's not a rusty shotgun, it's a classic rifle and he has the guns in the car also. and besides that, it works. the mercs have high tech and they get fragged by dynamite and traps. sometimes the old ways are best, that's the point.

FACT: Skyfall is fondly remembered almost entirely due to Roger Deakins' cinematography. The movie is gorgeous, whatever else can be said about it.

When you try to make a Bond movie like Skyfall and take away Deakins, you get Spectre.

I remember watching You Only Live Twice when I was probably 7 or 8 years old and getting a boner during the scene where Blofeld's redheaded henchwoman gets fed to sharks. I saw Spectre in the theatre and kept looking at smiling at afamily in the seats off to an angle behind me and they ended up leaviing in the middle of the movie.
