Why does so many people consider this 10/10?
Why does so many people consider this 10/10?
If your in the right head space this movie can induce very powerful feelings.
It would be 10/10 if they had actually been given a special effects budget and not just an abandoned factory and a bird
As is though it's one of the best shot movies ever and has some cool philosophical dialogue
because its from tarkovsky who people overrated
now if you ask why people consider tarkovsky 10/10... i unno
this movie is the reason people know who tarkovsky is.
Tarkovsky considered Solaris to be his worst movie. I don't think he would have been interested in doing a special effects heavy movie. Even though Tarkovsky was a fan of James Cameron's Terminator movie.
>*checks release dates*
>Ivan, Solaris, Rublev & Mirror all released before Stalker
Yeah... no.
And if you have played the game first, you'll be severely disappointed
Because it's perfect. Not a single moment in the film wasted.
Mirror is arguably the only Tarkovsky movie more popular than stalker. Don't really see what release date has to do with popularity.
what game should i start with? arent there like 5 expansions? whats worth playing and what isnt
I played the game first, and after seeing the movie realized they did the story great injustice
But then I read Roadside Picnic and realized that the movie itself also dumbed down the story greatly
God a Roadside Picnic miniseries could be fucking incredible
no one cares faggot
Explain why it’s perfect please. People always only talk about it’s visuals and I agree, but that alone doesn’t make a great movie. Perhaps I didn’t get it, but certainly I’m not the only one that found it’s pace irritating and the end inconclusive
in what bubble are you living in m8. solaris and rublev are clearly more popular than mirror. ivan is arguable.
>irritating
Maybe take some Adderall or watch it again when you're over the age of 20
>inconclusive
Watch it again. Make sure you read the subtitles next time.
What was the point of this scene?
SoC and CoP are both great but INCREDIBLY flawed and half of the gameplay experience is just picking which mods and tweaks make the game most playable for you
Clear Sky is just an alright expansion
Seriously I have ~10 hours clocked in on the first two games each and still can't figure out how to make it enjoyable, and playing without community patches led to gamebreaking glitches
based user
Still no one in this thread has answered the damn question...
Skip straight to the third, Call of Pripyat, maybe first if you liked that one, and second if you get really drawn in. I don't recall any expansions.
It's baby's first arthouse. Imagine seeing kino for the first time in your life: of course it's 10/10 compared to all the other drivel.
Briefly explain why you like it so much without mentioning it’s cinematography.
Play it in orden 1 shadow of chernobyl 2 clear sky and 3 call of prypiat
Clear sky it's a prequel of shadow of chernobyl but it's better if you play shadow of chernobyl first
call of prypiat it's the sequel of the other two
The gameplay improve every game
Is a good franchise full of exploration and russian shenanigans
SoC, then CoP. Then play Clear Sky and curse everyone who made that game.
диoc миo..
Personally I think it's an incredible movie all around
I love the way it's shot, Tarkovsky makes every location inside and outside of the zone unique
The characters are phenomenally written each with their own depth but incredible believable acting, with the author being one of my favorite characters in cinema
The Journey is tense and exciting throughout and seriously make you wonder what you are going to see next and the ever looming threat of death
But when they stop to talk it gives the next step of their journey more weight
Obviously the movies about faith but there's way more to it and whenever it is viewed through another point of view it becomes much more than that and becomes a different movie entirely on multiple viewings
what's wrong with clear sky?
No one is going to write a fucking thesis for you. There are already plenty of scholarly articles on Tarkovsky and stalker.
Imagine being this wrong
She had powers. She's a mutie.
I remember it had some interesting meanings. But I don't remember what they are. Maybe it's not that meaningful after all.
You cannot be any more wrong.
kys, unopinionated fag
but if you read the book you won't need anything else
Quite a lot. The basic unmodded version of the game doesn't even have iron sights for pistols. And even if you mod it, the design of pretty much everything is terrible.
For starters, the grenade spam. Almost every NPC has grenades and they use them quite often, in sync and they have the Worms AI skill in throwing them. Their aimbot is better so you'll end up sniped quite often which basically means you'll have to find yourself a sniper weapon too.
The level design is far more annoying than it was in SoC. For example, your starting location is in the Great Swamp which is large as fuck and full of grass that obscures vision but doesn't provide cover. Red Forest, Limansk, I traveled them quite a lot in Call of Chernobyl and hated them every single time.
Machine guns are instruments of death and you'll encounter one right off the bat in the second level you'll visit. Faction wars are a joke, there is virtually no semblance of balance. Also, if you join bandits too early, you can't finish the game.
Quests get bugged and the quest givers die. You'll lose all your money with no way to get it back atleast once.
Overall, it's just tedious as hell compared to SoC and CoP.
this, I teared up a bit when the stalker talks about how it's all he has in life
it gets to heart of human anxieties from multiple angles and is perfectly shot and set up for the message it tries to get across, no unnecessary flare
yeah but that's also the point by the end is that they've all realized it might not even benefit them, also from a film making point of view its probably for the best because no special effects could have done the room justice, better in your imagination
Solaris is superior
imagine being this unfamiliar with the source material
The Zone is supposed to be this corrupted landscape full of objects or even just spaces that can drive you mad and dissolve your bones just from touching them, whereas in the movie it may or may not actually be extraordinary except it's abandoned oh and also there's that one weird room
Don't get me wrong I fucking love the movie, but they could have made it so much more
I fell asleep and woke up when the glass was moving
Also, the mounds were cool I guess
Solaris is up there. It's still not in the upper echelons of filmmaking the way that Stalker is.
bump
bump
they actually lost the original film somehow and had to reshoot it all over again
...And what was the point of her having powers/being a mutie?
