At least my grand parents lived into their 80s and 90s. Hell my grandmother was 97 years old when she died, that is the same fucking age JFK would have been if he had not be killed. Literally the same age.

My dad died at 74, fell and hit his head, was brain dead almost instantly, was on on machines for a week until we decided to let him go.

You can brace for it, but you can't prepare. It's gonna happen. Spend time with them, you don't have much left.

And, as fucked as it sounds, hope it's quick. Mom died slowly of cancer. Fuck that. It's torture, for everyone. I told my siblings, if I get stage 4 inoperable anything, expect a goodby visit, and it's over. The last 6 months aren't worth living.
