Not really. It's pretty interesting how you are lead to root for the other side every second episode. It also shows how the danes (pagans) only fight for resources, the sake of fighting and women. The Christians then realize at some point what they are fighting for, they fight for their land, the soil where their forefathers are burried, their own blood became the soil. Then they really start fucking up the danes. But yeah the show kind of mocks the medieval form of Christianity where you would get killed if you wore the wrong stuff in the church or something.

I'm watching it for the first time, even the girl friend is enjoying it.
People compare it to game of thrones but I find it much more enjoyable. It's based on real events and the books which take some liberties but stay true to how things panned out. Its quite well paced, a lot can happen in a single episode. There is little 'there is a big battle coming, let's spend all season talking about It'. There will be 2 or 3 major battles each season, all well fought out and filmed. You actually feel invested in the fights, because the characters are well developed and it's clear what they are fighting for. Even the talkier parts are good because the cast is so varied

I've only watched the first season, but neither religion is shown to be correct. Christianity gets riffed on, but as I'm sure you're aware beats Danish Paganism in the end. Most of it comes from the protagonist being caught between the two worlds and despising anyone telling him what to do, which obviously causes conflict. Outside of MUH FOLK MEDICINE and one character who may or may not be able to tell the future and ends up getting killed after they may or may not lose that ability there's nothing implying one is more factually correct than the other. The the Pagans are mocked just as much, and one of the characters is basically a hyper-superstitious African tribesman in a Nord's body and the Protagonist viciously rips on him and his beliefs.
