Wasn't that movie in theaters for about 5 years?

It's called staying power.

Modern movies lack it because of home video, which didn't exist back then.

Back in those days there were different classes of theatres. The best ones got the movies first, but were also the most expensive. Then second-rate theatres got the movie for lower prices, and eventually the lowest tier like small town cinemas and so on. So if you wanted to see a movie right away you'd have to pay more, or you could wait and watch it for peanuts later on.

We still have those. They're called "dollar theaters" (even though they charge more than a dollar now), and are second-run movie theaters usually located on less-than-great parts of town.

Here's an example of one in my city:

They used to be good business, but studios releasing their moveis to home video within two to three months of their theatric release has really hurt them in recent years.

Hulk daps on the haters.

Dabbing is fucking retarded, and is proof how culturally empty people are.

here in europe it's not so much second-run theatres but something like semi-arthouse theatres, not entirely arthouse, but tending more towards a bit less popular or well-known films (but sometimes blockbusters as well) though mostly some time after the main releaste date, and usually in original language version.

>Old movie gets modern releases in theaters every so often
>Money is counted towards its overall box office earnings
>"Oh, when you account for inflation..."

>there are still second run theatres in burgerland in A.D. MMXIX
MIND=BLOWN

We have arthouse theaters, too. Almost within walking distance of where I live is one that serves wine and lobster while watching usually-low-budget indie movies while the hallways are full of shitty paintings for sale.

>serves wine and lobster
>tfw the memes become real
lmao

didn't that movie used to have a war in it

>adults go watch and even pay to watch this

manchildren =! adults
being grown up doesn't automatically make you an adult

Absolutely based thread. Fantastic film that'll never be outgrossed.

NECKBEARDS BTFO

>tfw GwtW has a stronk female protagonist
>but she isn't a mary sue and actually fucks up sometimes
>and it's still a 10/10 film
how is it so hard to understand the difference between this and forced diversity/mary sue/etc.?

The saddest part is culturally-empty mainstream pop fags really believe that this shit is a defining moment in culture and society when in the real world I just can't find anyone who even remotely gives a shit.

But then again, if so many people are culturally-empty mainstream pop fags who really believe that this shit is a defining moment in culture, doesn't that make it a defining moment in culture?

Why was Scarlett smiling in the very next scene after Rhett raped her?

Because it was good . Unlike Memevengers IncelGame

He was a glorified house husband who we are meant to believe had no better options than a disinterested attention whore. Frankly my dear he shouldn't have aimed so low for so long.

Here's some dialogue from the kidnapping scene in "Three days of the Condor"
>Him: Stop your whining. I haven't raped you.
>Her: The night is still young.
