Honestly I don't mind if we drop off the board when few people is around. I have done some last-minute saves when nobody would bake, but thanks to the searchable catalog it's really easy to find if there's an active Alita thread with OC and discussion taking place.

One sequel might be too little, unless they make it a story all about Alita vs Nova. They might have to cut Zapan, Barjack and perhaps even Jeru. The galactic mega-structures are among my favorite parts of this world, so I'd hate to see it not get covered in glorious 3D.

There is speculation that the merger between 20th Century Fox and Disney caused some fuckery. The social media for Alita went silent for a long while, and there might even have been active sabotage going on.
Beside this, there could have been some re-working of the bonus features, because they had to wait to use any effort on those because they had to do more of the work that Fox was supposed to do.
Releases can be delayed on purpose to hit the market at the right time, but I think it's too pushed back for that to explain things on its own.
I would not be surprised if there was some behind the scenes drama between the production, Fox and Disney.

I went in blind the first time, not knowing about the manga or anime at all, not even knowing it was based on anything. All I saw and heard, briefly, was that it was an action movie-starring a cyborg girl, produced and written by James Cameron and directed by Robert Rodriguez. Thought it sounded cool and that I'd check it out. Little did I know It'd end up being one of my favorite movies, life-impacting movies, that'd I'd end up seeing literally a dozen times.

Right after my first screening of it, on March 9th, I went onto Yea Forums on the Yea Forums board, after not visiting any of Yea Forums for literally over a year. I thought, 'golly gee, that was a pretty great movie. I wonder what anons thought of it.' Little did I know that there were entire dedicated general to A:BA and that the most recent one was up to #139 already. Ever since then, I've been hooked.

Everything about this movie is exciting.
I honestly thought I would only enjoy it in a self-effacating way since it seemed cool but not overly interesting beyond that. I think I found this place after my second viewing, and the shared content just opened something inside of me. I dragged a bunch of people along to different screenings, but the most special one was the late night one I had with my dad at IMAX. We had a drink and shared a chat beforehand and after I got home at something like 12am I sat down and just wrote After the Flood in one sitting. And I guess I just never stopped. What sucks about cgi waifu's is, you only get what they produce.

There's no Alita going to the movie premiere, or getting a coffee, or being in a magazine...Unless the producers create it. So they just leave you with a movie of a character you enjoy and they solely exist in that realm.

Even with the Director's Cut, I'd argue it could be left ambiguous, that it was just a coincidence with the unicorn dream. Harrison and everyone who's not Scott (including the fans) prefer it to be the "either/or, 50/50, flip a coin ambiguous is he/isn't he" scenario. Scott, on the other hand, prefers that it's totally confirmed that Deckard is a replicant.

I personally like the ambiguity theory over the certainty that Deckard is a replicant. There's positives of having both options open. He's a human — good, we can relate to him better; less of a scary, eerie Twilight Zone vibe. He's a replicant—cool, there's a scary, eerie Twilight Zone vibe, and it's actually exactly in line with Philip K. Dick's (wrote Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the book the movie was based on) type of storytelling, where the protagonist is revealed to "BE [dead/an alien/a robot/the Devil/not real/not the protagonist] ALL ALONG!"
