Zeitgeist. Yeah its cheesy and alot of it is BS, but learning how the federal reserve actually works is mind-blowing and it makes sense why many presidents (Jefferson, Jackson, Kennedy) were completely opposed to it.

Seconding both of these, Fog of War and Ken Burns' Vietnam are great companion pieces. While we're in the general geographical neighbourhood I'd also highly recommend The Act of Killing.
