Is it kino bros? Never read a comic in my life but kinda interested after Endgame. Will I cringe? Is the target audience kids?

its not that good. its target audience is 11+.
has nothing to do with the movies. you wont know who 75% of the characters are.

Thanos Quest is better but it's not bad.

It's from the early 90s and the look didn't age well, there are many cosmic beings like Galactus included, but there are some scenes not for children.

Read the 70s Starlin Warlock collection instead, it's got a nice psychedelic vibe

Are there any kino comics except for Watchmen that aren't targeted towards kids? Can be capeshit or not, doesn't matter
It's easy to find good manga but comics are confusing as fuck

Read it if you want to see Thanos as the ultimate beta orbiter who makes a female version of himself to be his own waifu.

they're not really targeted at kids, there's death and destruction and sometimes gore and sometimes hints of nudity or sex. its pg-13 to r rated level but without curse words. the reading level is around 11+.
you just have to know the backstories of a bunch a characters, especially in crossover/event comics.
most comics' writing is terrible. read everything by alan moore, i like jonathan hickman's stuff as well for the crazy plots but his characterizations are pretty poor, oh and there's a new book called Immortal Hulk by Al Ewing which is very good, its the Hulk told through a body horror lens.

DC's Hitman is good. Definitely not for kids.

Imagine the autistic spergs writing this shit.
Which explains why when you attempt to turn it into a movie, all the problems with power levels and plot holes come to light.
That's what happens when mentally ill cunts who never go outside write shit.

Gaiman's Sandman
Moore's Swamp Thing
Pretty much all of Hellblazer
Morrison's Animal Man
Miller's Batman: Year one
Miller's Daredevil: Year one
The Killing Joke
The Dark Knight Returns
Weapon X
Kingdom Come
The Legion of Superheroes: Great Darkness Saga
Peter David's Hulk
Peter David's Aquaman

Endgame's target audience is kids and it seems you liked it.
You'll be ok.

Oh, and once you've absorbed enough lore from the others to fully appreciate it:

Gaiman's "The Books of Magic"

Read the killing joke it's also by alan moore and great. Pretty mature.

Infinity Gauntlet was written by Jim Starling who served in Vietnam, fucking idiot

What comes after is more interesting. Adam Warlock with the gauntlet.
There are some cool scenes in it though, like that famous one where Captain America approaches him.

Earth X movie when?

The thing about the original comics was that they were aimed at two kinds of people; kids and nerds. This meant that they could be superhero stories in earnest, without constantly having to remind the audience that this is in fact silly and need to make constant jokes about it to remind them how silly it is.

I never understood the love for The Killing Joke. Once you remove Brian Bolland's art, what's left? The Joker having a particularly psychotic episode?

Some stuff that I enjoy (that hasn't been mentioned yet):
Sin City
Batman: The Long Halloween
George Perez's Wonder Woman
All Star Superman
Conan
Sunstone
Indian Summer, or really anything done by Milo Manara if you want European comics
Heavy Metal Magazine for weird short stories with fantastic artwork

Image Comics has some good shit: Chew, Deadly Class, Seven to Eternity, The Fade Out, Black Science, Criminal, Invincible, Birthright, Morning Glories.

take this shit to Yea Forums faggot

Are you trying to say endgame was for adults? Fucking grow up manchild

Modern Marvel crossover events are kino and what the MCU is pretty much based on.
Read, in this order (they all build up):
>House of M
>Civil War
>Planet Hulk
>World War Hulk
>Secret Invasion
>Dark Avengers
>Siege
>Original Sin
>Secret Wars

Warlock and The Infinity Watch was a pretty good comic series. But they had to ruin it with Infinity War and Infinity Crusade.

Hagar the Horrible live action adaptation when?

In the comic, Thanos sadistically slaughters every single person that opposes him, just for the sheer joy it brings him to do so. He could just wipe them out in an instant, but there's no fun in that for him. It's also shown that even *he* has trouble grasping the true scope and reach of what he's really capable of. He's literally drunk on infinite power and it reveals an Achilles heel, not because he's momologuing like a cliché, but because the entirety of his psyche has equal access to that power, even the quiet part of him that knows he's wrong.

Warlock understands that. He ultimately uses it against him, revealing to Thanos about himself he's long denied, that like many supposed "psychopathic" killers, he secretly does have a conscience. He secretly wants to be stopped. He secretly wants their to be some higher power that will hold him in judgement for his actions. When none materializes, he always finds a way to stop himself.

Kid's story.

Whats the difference between Secret Wars (1984) and Secret Wars (2011)? Is it just new artwork or a totally new story?

It seems like there are different versions of all of the crossover events

...

read the original ultimes run
hulk tries to rape his girlfriend but kills her in the process

the rape

Completely different stories. You're right. It can be pretty confusing.
To be more specific I'm referring to:
>House of M (2006)
>Civil War (2006)
>The Incredible Hulk (2000) #92-105
>World War Hulk (2007)
>Secret Invasion (2008)
>Dark Avengers (2009)
>Siege (2010)
>Original Sin (2014)
>Secret Wars(2015)

Is the general consensus the newer ones are better, then?

The 70s ones are campier-more kid friendly. But there's still some good stuff in there.
The newer ones are more what you expect a modern comic to read like.

Its complicated and convoluted and it's the 2nd in a trilogy. It has very little to do with the mcu. Dont read it as your first, it will make no sense.

>comics
>confusing

Go to the local comic store and buy anything with a number 1 on it. Ez. You dont need to know 70 years of back story.

The Authority, The Walking Dead, Top 10 by Alan Moore, DMZ

There are many kino Batman comics other than the killing joke, for example the Death in the family, Arkham Asylum, Gotham by Gaslight, Hush

Read The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
