I genuinely wish I had never heard or become a part of A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones

One of the most enjoyable and invigorating aspects of my life has been absolutely demolished and it's impossible to put into words the emptiness I'm feeling in my heart.

The series is not even finished in any medium yet, but I AM DONE. I want out. If only I could go back and never become part of this *expedition to blue balls.*

Call me 'over the top' all you want. Being part of this community is what kept my mental issues at bay and it was all rendered futile in 82 minutes.

Of course I'll watch it till the end at this point and wait for Winds of Winter. Dream of Spring will only come posthumously, if at all, and thus we will never truly learn George's actual path to his ending.

**If someone wants a reason for why people are so distraught, my reasoning:**

The whole saga, since the first prologue, has been about the petty conflicts that men raise to discern who truly deserves power and a literal chair, while nature's threat (i.e. Global Warming, the Universe, Magic itself, and the Gods) is looming ever so slowly. Repeatedly we learn and ARE TOLD how none of men's bullshit matters -- Look at our own world as an example. "It is the conflict of the human heart with itself" and blah blah. "That dark lords are overdone, overused." We are shown nature as personified through the children, the Gods and Magic being real, yet apparently all that in the background was less important than a golden haired maniacal whore.

Subversion caused asoiaf/got to become the stereotype it was trying to disprove all along.

you have a problem if you're only just realising it's shit

I was sad aswell
I loved the show early on. It hurt when it stopped following the books and got shit. I'm really annoyed i dont have a true ending

The show's been shit since for a while, but it's all us book readers have since the fat fuck can't finish what he started.

This is why brand loyalty is so bad for society

If only the fat fuck had finished the books

Serious question for Yea Forums's fantasy & SF fans: just how bad was the last episode in terms of being a crappy conclusion to a long-running build-up?

Was it as bad as the last episode of Battlestar Galactica in which Gaius Baltar's character arc turned out to be making a speech about peace while holding a rifle and then everyone shot each other anyway? And the spooky Kobol Opera house visions turned out to be a precognition of five people standing round a bath tub?

Was it as bad as the end of Lost which resolved five years of mystery with Jack punching evil to death and replacing a stone butt plug in a magic anus?

His legacy will be exactly that and it makes me happy.

Fat fuck can't finish his Magnum Opus BEFORE ITS ADAPTATION.

Just imagine tolkien's reaction to this shit

Only an autist would have such strong opinions about some at best "ok" fantasy series. Have sex.

I think it was as just the point where it became undeniable that GOT has become a fanfic of itself at this point. The warning signs (plot armor, etc) had been there for some time.

Why?
it was kino
youtu.be/cGh3s0lPxCQ

It was a 2/10.
0/10 gets bumped to 2/10 because this finally allowed me to walk away from the show. You can parallel this easily to what HBO did in Westworld season 2. They took a 10/10 show and turned it into gutter trash. They did the same thing here. They did the same thing with True Detective. This effectively casts a long shadow on HBO... This ends my consideration of them as a network for some time.

> battlestar gallactica
had its highs and lows and didn't sideline men for political purposes. They had a couple of strong women and they held their own/were legit. I don't have qualms w/ the show

> Lost
Never watched this brainlet trash.
Time travel is a shitty braindead meme. Anything that invokes it is garbage and not watchable. This includes the latest avenger's movie.. that being said, capeshit turned to trash years ago and was unwatchable.

Agreed. It's been a slow and steady decline culiminating in a dumpster fire. There hasn't been a hit series HBO avoided doing this to for some time. I'm starting to see it as a network issue and .. HBO is dropped

The worst imaginable.

You should just go spoil yourself about it since the garbage isn't worth experiencing as a whole anymore.

Imagine being known as the "realest, most un-fairytale" story about intra-human and inter-human conflicts whilst the true threat is nature, magic, actual Gods, but in the end becoming a fairy tale even cheesier than disney stories.

I refuse to believe George R.R. Martine signed this off.

OMFG you reminded me of Westworld Season 2 Finale.

i had wiped that trash from my brain.

Westworld was worth watching until some parts of Season 2. Avoid finale at all costs.

Name a long running series that actually had a satisfying conclusion

Attached: 8ADF79C2-6844-44EF-A57A-D89DE549DBF8.jpg (2048x1536, 860K)

I knew the show was shit since season 4, but somehow this episode still broke me with just how bad it was. I couldn't even laugh at the poor quality because it was just so atrocious. I guess I lost the last bit of hope I had for the show, and I didn't think I had any hope left. The braindead retards defending the episode doesn't help.

Babylon 5 had TWO satisfying final episodes. Most of season 5 was an aberration, but you can completely skip it.

The MCU.

Buffy and Angel ended fairly well

>nothing mattered because humanity bombed itself back into the middle ages like 100 years later or whatever
>multiple plot threads left totally hanging
nope
>capeshit

i'm actually jealous. atleast ASOFAI nerds can hope that their fat deity will deliver them from this trash one day and they can write off the show as fan fiction.

wish lucas could do that with star wars.

I feel HBO does this in an attempt to tramautize its viewers into the next series they have lined up. This likely, per their metrics keeps people tied to an HBO subscription. Shortsighted and stupid. Now that it's clear, I wont be considering the network again. I too erased WW season 2 from memory. It was an absolute painful ride from start to finish. After GOT, I am dropping HBO and will not reconsider them for years. Also, I will be even more stickler about shows/movies I plan to watch. I have only a few shows/movies for the year. That will shrink even further in the next year.

SEXIST PIG!

The books are meme tier garbage and literally copies other fantasy books about muh meme gray choices, it’s not evil or good gaaaaawwww! When in reality the Witcher had been doing it years earlier and better and with a monster hunter vibe. Anybody seriously considering the asofai books as even close to be well-written or classics in the future deserves to be shot.

sexist

It will only hurt more when fatso dies from a thousand island overdose and they discover that the WoW "sample chapters" are all he's ever written and there's not even an outline for where the rest of the series was going to go because he's a discovery writer and never actually came up with an ending.

t. pompous pseud who never read the books and took literal memes a bit too seriously.
You do have serious literacy issues if you think the Witcher has any literary value whatsoever though

The fat fuck's last book came out in 2011 when the show started.

He's 70 years old

Weighs 350 pounds at 5'5 and has spent at least 500 pages talking about food alone in the story.

We'll get Winds of Winter and nothing more.

I don't want a posthumously written ending. I want GRRM's ending.

tfw some random fuck on youtube can write a better episode than the actual producers

Someone needs to get their hands on the recorded talks between Dumb and Dumber and George.

They did one in the middle of Season 4 that was prominent and at the start of the series. But every single recorded convo would be even better.

They have to be somewhere...

There's a point where fat man stopped being involved in the series and I doubt they've talked to him once since that.

Falling skies was pretty ok.

You aren't involved in its production, you're just one of the many, many, many, many people who watch an incredibly popular show. You are not "a part of" anything you fucking loser. Jesus Christ.

HAVE SEX NOW

Hell on wheels

Legend of the Galactic Heroes

Why'd you keep watching after it started to fucking blow? You don't even have the show to blame, it's your fault for sticking with it.

Fuck, I had to force myself to watch even a little bit past Season 3 and couldn't even get halfway through 4, but how many times have I heard "Lol I know it's worse now but I'm invested"? Yeah fuck that, that's like if your partnered turns abusive or something and you refuse to leave cuz "we've been together for years, I can't leave now, I'm INVESTED :( "

It was shit from the get go, Kill yourself if that's the only basis for your existence.

It's called the sunk cost fallacy.

Calm down you autist. it's still a great show. we're just shitposting because its popular now.

The Others are the reason the winters last for years

If I am not invested after the first 4 episodes I drop it.

Here's a tip: global warming is as dangerous as the nite king. Cersei was right and you don't have to worry about it. A little girl can fix it.

redpilled as fuck

The Shield

user, I think you don't realise that this show is being written for these people since season 5: youtube.com/watch?v=n5wm3fY5pCY

Just always keep this in mind and you will be relaxed. The show jumped the shark the moment they drew Stannis as a villain. I stopped caring as soon as I've heard the "evil music" playing when Stannis' army marched on the wildlings. As if it's not something glorious.

So you should stop caring too.

Naruto

By the way, the scene I'm talking about: youtube.com/watch?v=z5wIXI8ZFfU

Notice the evil music.

The books are much better and more cohesive than the show. I stopped watching after season 2 when the main storyline began to diverge so drastically.

TNG and DS9 had satisfying conclusions

The only reason I cannot stop caring is BECAUSE THE FAT FUCK WILL NOT FINISH THE STORY.

Only HBO will and it hurts so much that this is the truth.

I stopped at early season 3 for the same reason.

came back after they surpassed the books tho, never watched the previous seasons

How many times in the last 3 season, the "save in the last second" scene happens?

I was satisfied that it concluded

Attached: 1554718052392.gif (245x150, 898K)

This show actually proves the powerful writing of GRRM because there is not a single consistent scene since the show has diverged from source material. Apparently Dumb&Dumber couldn't manage to think about JUST ONE thing that is suitable for ASOIAF. It went exponentially worse, I mean you can literally see the quality drop as soon as season 5 begins.

I'm sad because there won't be any other (true) ASOIAF adaptation written by some smart people, maybe when I'm 70. ASOIAF is honestly a beautiful work but low iq audience, budget and timing problems will always prevent it.

Are the graphic novel adaptations any good? Also, I was think about getting the illustrated edition of A Game of Thrones.

Lmao. Grow up, nerd.

Stargate

It isn’t “evil music”, it’s a modified version of the Stannis motif, slowed down so the viewer doesn’t immediately know who is attacking. You fucking brainlet

>Global Warming
Please tell me that wasn't the explanation given for the long seasons.

bend over

No, but the others/walkers have been linked to bringing the winter with them, so if they are dead that means the long winters are probably as well.

"Winter is coming"

Its been alluded to by george in some interviews.

but we'll never know because the fat fuck won't write the books.

How I imagined the Long Night:

>pure paranoia, people dying from cold
>fucked up day cycle leading to nights lasting longer and longer from days to weeks
>howling cold winds to a point where your tears freeze on your cheek so they cannot even advance durring "daytime"
>NK making sure to ocupate everything from North onward, huthing any kind of humans along their spider minions which are big as hounds
>a point where food will be scarce and probably scenes of cannibalism
>heavy horror themes mixed in with sword action
>less political and romance bullshits
>uncomfortable deaths and scenes
>returning the original more decayed look of the White Walkers
>issueing orders with growls "The Thing 82" style
>no plot armor
>no ninja teleports

it may be shitty but this is how I see it. Most of my friends are making fun of me because I hate the way the show went.

But whatever. This show is turd now and easy to consume from the Bar NPCs...

Sorry but I'm not OP. Just someone that fell for the Malazan meme thanks to shitty posters like you.

Fuck you, the books are garbage. I dropped them on the second book.
>ditch the entire cast and worldbuilding of the first book for some shitty Daenerys plot on a
>desert
>desert
>desert
>desert
Zzzzz

I forced myself to finish the book, it was shit. The first book was better.

I honestly don't give a fuck about the show anymore, or the universe. You shouldn't either. I am into medieval arms and armor, so I'm basically just watching it for new modernized/fantasy interpretations of old armor. Whoever the armorer was on GoT actually did some top notch shit in seasons 1 through 5. They must have been fired after season 5 though because the costumes now are shit.

GoT is just another run of the mill generic boring fantasy series now after the Jews rammed that Deus Ex Arya down everyone's throat. Just cut your attachment to the franchise and move on

I watched the first 2 episodes and realized how fucking awful it was. It’s your fault for sticking with this normie watercooler talking point for the last 10 years.

It literally ruined the entire show. The show had been bad for a while, infested with plot armor and fanservice around every corner, but I had some small bit of hope that it would wrap with a somewhat satisfying conclusion. It didn't.

Entire series long plot lines and character arcs became completely irrelevant, everything you thought mattered, suddenly didn't. And not in a "what a tweest!" kind of way, but in a "why did I waste my time with this shit? " way. I didn't watch BSG, but lost had a better ending.

>seasons 1 through 5.
cringe
...and you claim to be into medieval armor...yikes!

Armor stopped being good at season 3, season 4 was only good because it used earlier season' armor.

If the whole episode was Old Nan reading to us, I'd be happier.

You are a fucking seven seconds attention span zoomer. Malazan series has one of the best tied worldbuilding in the entire fantasy genre. God fucking forbid one of the books builds other part of the world than the first one, jesuschrist.

>cringe
>...yikes!
t. mid-30s Millennial trying to sound like a zoomer

The book was like 500 pages long you faggot. 500 pages of garbage in an awful continent/land.

Malazan series was a mistake.

Can you blame me for getting exited when I heard her story and before that at the beginning of the pilot I witnessed the threat.

I endured so many dumbass moments, repeated "nyahhss I am smarter then you" games... I genieny thought I will get to see a long battle versus an inhumane force that will draw out the worst in humans when the Long Night arrives.

Maybe this is why The Wall were my favorite parts of the show.

most of Yea Forums are contrarian
i'd bet good money most of them enjoyed it at least until the last 3 minutes.

It made me realise I like The Terror more.

The episode as a cinematography: 5/10 crappy lightning, annoying jump cuts

The episode as a story developement: 2/10 - faservice for brainlets to the end

Overall - 3/10 for fans of Lost

They're also doing that with Barry right now. Show is so different in S2 from S1. Gone is the clever dry humor and surprisingly interesting action scenes. Now we have 9 year old girls who know Tae Kwon Do literally flying and attacking/jumping onto a roof and beating a trained hitman. It's pathetic.

Seems like the network can't help but ruining shows by pushing a female empowerment angle, no matter if it doesn't fit at all in the show.

THE MORE SHE DRANK THE MORE SHE SHAT

Just finished the 4 books.

Amazing

>heard her story an
I stopped enjoying it precisely the moment Mel told Arya that Beric died 28 times just so he could stand in a hallway to help her for 13 seconds.

is it really good ? I'm dying for some good fantasy books

Holy shit kill yourself you absolute retard

Try Magician by Feist. It's complete and utter wish fulfillment but it does it well.
Also I'm trying to look for a fantasy series I remember my friends reading as a kid but I can't remember the name... and I don't know any details so I wish someone would just post a bunch of random fantasy series so I can find it.

I started laughing the second I realized that they'd have those poor dothraki charge in with normal weapons had Mel not showed up. The episode had it's good moments, but the battle logistics for example were pants on head retarded.

thx for the suggestion

>he thinks the second book was better than the first
>he thinks the malazan series is good after that putrid second book
lmao

Are all the people on Facebook saying GoT is still amazing bots? It just seems weird because no one I know really praised the episode. It went from excitement about the show returning to memes about this last episode yet if you go to any pages the comments are all "NOT TODAY" and praise. Even here there's plenty of criticism but it's like all the non-friend comments are positive there. Just weird.

Ah ok my brain works for once and I remember the author that my friends used to read.
David Eddings. Would anyone recommend his stuff? I've never seen it mentioned here a single time.

if i had any social impulses this would make me feel real fucking lonely

Hahaha
Holy shit that's good user. You almost had me convinced you were dumber than an earthworm, but no one could be that stupid and still know how to work a keyboard. Erikson is as good at writing as Thomas pinecone.

Good choice mate

Attached: 1542881822564.jpg (610x480, 52K)

The books aren't much better

The second book destroyed any hype I had for the series.

It should have remained a book about urban assassins fighting each other to death with wizards in the middle and shit.

But then they threw it all into the garbage bin and decided to focus on some shitty group of nerds travelling through a desert where nothing happens until the last 30 pages of the book.

Kill yourself Erikson, you ruined it for everyone with eyes.

Ignore that faggot, Midnight Tides jumped to a different continent and it was great

why? why do you think the show went down this path?

>Group of nerds traveling through the desert where nothing happens till the last 30 pages

Lol? Did you read the book? The literal nonstop action of the chain of dogs? Of course not, since you're a buttfucking retard.

What the fuck are you memeing about? The only thing that happened in the whole book was then they fell into this labyrinth shit with monsters all over the place and they had to reach someplace for reasons I don't remember.

That was the only cool part in the entire book, and the book was long as fuck.

The first book had an incredible assassin fight and build up until giant nigger and cool dude with cool sword showed up.

Book 1 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Book 2

Book 1 had over 100 pages of comfy fantasy. Book 2 had 30.

I watched seasons 1 and 2 with a lot of my normie friends. They kept watching after I lost interest. Even now they keep up with the show, even though none of them think it's particularly well made now.

During the last season a bunch wanted to try playing Dungeons and Dragons because apparently the mission beyond the wall was basically a short D&D campaign, so that was neat for a little while.

Attached: 1543183614995.gif (350x263, 1.48M)

Same. It's Star Wars all over again.

Also here you go, you faggot ass nigger. I unzipped my book just for you. Kill yourself.

I read this piece of shit and it was boring as shit

Thank you user for this bread. A quick skim of the wiki seems solid so far. I'm going to do a read of a page or two on the web and then likely place an order for the books. I'd also like to take this chance to suggest a read :
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neuromancer.
I got bummed of the shit quality of shows some time back and had an amazing experiencing reading select sci-fi books. Far better and world changing experience vs. some kiked up mainstream production. I'd suggest it to anyone !

Attached: fire.jpg (245x406, 28K)

There’s been a lot. Rome was lucky to die after s2. HBO always does good and then shits the bed. I hope those execs and dabid get ass cancer

Try black company by glen cook or heroes die by Matthew stover. If you want some flintlock fantasy powder mage triology is kino as is the shadow campaigns by Django wexler.

I've seen a lot of criticism about Erikson but never boring.

Was the army guiding a group of thousands of civilian refugees across a continent in open revolt too boring? Battle scenes every twenty pages with sappers butchering people, wizards fighting off enemy wizards, body counts in the tens of thousands by halfway, every dirty trick in the book used to guide their caravan as they run out of supplies? I mean it's basically one long war, every chapter is some other atrocity.

And if it isn't coltaine butchering people it's soletaken on the path of hands trying to ascend to godhood. What the fuck book did you read where it was boring you goddamned retard?

Dude chill out. It’s not that good, it’s his hot take on a historical event/time frame. There’s much better fantasy out there that’ll actually conclude in your lifetime.

Lmao brainlet.

Based and NaruHinapilled. We won, bros. Never forget.

I wanted to know what happened after the events of book 1, instead book 2 followed a sidequest.

They abandoned the best characters at the start of the book. I couldn't give a damn about anyone that was left. ( I don't even remember which character specifically, all I remember is that I was pissed off about the cast when I started book 2, I tried to read this series a decade ago)

I just never connected with the book or the characters. Also I hate fucking sand, boring environments bore me. Fuck sand.

The book got good at the end, and then it ended.

here
Also I just wanted more assassins, that was peak book-kino.

Justified.

>"we dug coal together..."

So OP, what did you want? Just all the humans being wiped out by the zombies?

They're decent

>people who hate a show past season 2 yet continue to watch and post about it on an anime board

i admit i am like 90 IQ and these are only book i can enjoy because they are rly simple :D

>When in reality the Witcher had been doing it years earlier and better and with a monster hunter vibe
First off: Why does it matter that it was done before? GRRM never claimed otherwise
Second off: How in the name of fuck can you compare the Witcher to A Song of Ice and Fire? They don't really share all that much in world building, characters or storytelling

retard . thats the stannis theme theyve used since s2

I've read literal ASOIAF fanfiction better than "Game of Thrones"
With more satisfying endings.
And yes, even a Wight Dragon, done years before D&D 'thought' it up (More like stole the idea.)

I don't because I couldn't see shit

Yes, you're such a genius. You can see past the curtain of the mindless masses and you've seen the face of God. Truly, all but few novels are mindless drivel to the mighty celestial object you call a brain, you Atlas of the mind. Nothing personal, kiddo

i call it the Last Jedi syndrome; bad writing at its best.

>1000 year old bones punch throw stone coffins
lmao

>And yes, even a Wight Dragon, done years before D&D 'thought' it up (More like stole the idea.)
basically everything in the Beyond the Wall storyline that isn't in the books was stolen from Warcraft, to the point that they straight up stole scenes from the Wrath of the Lich King trailer and refilmed them

this is some odd syntax. ESL?

Perfect summary.

The whole NK think reminds me of how they dealt with Sargeras. He was also pushed off the board without really doing anything, after over a decade of hyping

The sopranos has been the only series worthy enough to be crowned a masterpiece from beginning to end

The Wire

See you next sunday

youtu.be/HoLhcdapmqg

The sad thing is that D&D know they’re creating a shit show and want to end it so they won’t feel shit anymore

No fucking way. BSG shit ending was kino conpared to this abomination.
Baltar's shitty role was still central. The fucking Angels were exposed. Starbuck was exposed as supernatural. She had a fucking purpose. A shitty deus ex machina purpose but that's litteraly what She was and it was set up with the notes 3 episodes in advance. And hera was fucking mitocondrial eve so risking the ship and main cast for her didn't seem to be as useless as at first.

In GOT Jon's role was to scream at a fucking dead dragon. Nothing about the supernatural shits guiding/setting up the events or their motivations was made clear. Arya geting close enough wasn't even shown let alone set up. And Bran is not really significant to the survival of the human Race. I mean he's a fucking walking... Well, rolling, encyclopedia but killing him would not be the end of nothing so the whole supernatural existential threat revolving around him is pointless.

BSG was a fucking masterpiece

I agree. I actually cried when Rosalin died and Adama built their hut as he promised. It was impactful and BSG had some amazing characters that got their proper sendoff. Starbuck wasn't some Mary Sue know it all feminist, she was a genuinely conflicted character who struggled with her vices but became the beacon for New Earth.

Attached: adama.png (1920x1080, 2.14M)

The Witcher is literally a book you stupid mongoloid. He’s not talking about the games. And yes, they are better than asoiaf

As a fan of both, I have to say that nothing in BSG was ever this disappointing. Or maybe I was just young and stupid.

>they are better than asoiaf
In what way?

Person of interest was kino

RAYBAND GIBBONS IN MY HOLLER?

I really think Dave and Dan (show runners) had no idea how to wrap up the White walkers/Bran story line. It was probably the story line that they got the lease information from GRRM and it was too complicated of a plot for them to write a good ending to it. So they said "fuck it" lets throw a 100 million at a single episode with a bit of fan service and kill no one that carried any real weight on the show and then wipe our hands of it and move on to Cersei. I could be wrong and maybe they can throw in a few twists with the next few episodes and it can come back around. But I don't hold a lot of hope for D&D.

In the season 7 finale the wight was in a wooden box and apparently couldn't break through lmfao.

then why tease us with cave symbols and Bran's visions for these last seasons and even the last episode with the Umbers? for what purpose? You can't have your cake and eat it too, either the White Walkers are the concept of death that marches onwards or they're a sophisticated culture with a purpose [that was never explored, only teased].

Literally only the books are canon.
The show has been fanfiction since s05e01.

If the fat fuck lives long enough, I promise you he will deliver a god tier ending.
Watch Preston Jacobs' theory videos on where the last 2 books are going and even if only 10% of hist theories are correct, it will still be a million times better than Reddit Lord of the Rings.

>super deadly villain is built up for 8 seasons
>gets rekt in the first battle

You tell me

how did they survive against the wall for over an hour vs. thousands of dead?

Attached: how.jpg (1920x1080, 122K)

Dude... you are objectively pathetic.

I agree if they don't bring the WW's back in some form before the end to be the real threat, than show writers completely fucked up this story arc. I'm suppose to believe that Jon was bought back to life to defeat Cersei? That Bran story arc north of the wall with the three eye raven was all pretty much pointless? I really hope they have some surprises in store.

kek'd

notice you didn't get an answer? it's everything you hate about D&D's GoT times 10

Just look at what's been done to Star Trek and Star Wars. It's all fucked mate. The quality of media is literally skydiving and the normies are loving it.

The long winters are because of the great other. in the show the NK literally brings winter blizzards with him at will. Now that the others are defeated, global warming is gone.

George has alluded to this in many interviews.

>ice being gone is global warming being gone

wut? seems the exact opposite

Mediocrity has become Excellence.

yeah, it's really sad desu

climate change would be a better term. now that only the lord of the light (apparently a good guy) is in power, the seasons should be consistent.

Idk wtf to even say. The white walkers can freeze steel swords and shatter them in 2 seconds and bring ice storms representing death.

Did the fat man only want the others to represent nature's power itself and humanity's fight against it? Do they have no culture, motivation, society of their own?

So what did we like?

>Dothraki battle cries getting quieter and lights going out if you ignore the stupid context
>Sansa and Tyrion having an actual tender moment and willing to die helping their people if you ignore the stupid context
>'You're a good man, thank you', if you ignore his stupid run to his death
>Shot of the dragons above the clouds

The ice in "a song of ice and fire" being defeated means that fire doesn't have to "fight" for its balance in the world. aka consistent seasons.

When melisandre showed up, I really thought this would be a lore episode and live up to the books title "A song of ICE AND FIRE"

but nope. she does one epic scene of lighting fire to all dothraki arhaks at once and that's the extent of it.

>(We’ll learn more about their) history, certainly, but I don’t know about culture,” he said. “I don’t know if they have a culture.”

music & cinematography was good

This episode only proved one thing.

HARRY FUCKING POTTER HAD A BETTER CLIMAX THAN GOT
The fat man got beaten by Rowling in booksales and story telling

>cinematography
You couldn't fucking see anything and it cut between the main cast being covered in wights one scene and fine the next so often it was jarring.

i stopped watching at episode 9 and became uninterested, what happens in the finale

>muh community and need to belong
>muh shitty tastes that even made me consider GoT in the first place even though it was pleb shit since the start both TV and book-wise

0 sympathy master race here

You bookfags are the most miserable geeks on the planet. Seriously.

Not a single one of you have contributed anything of note to any conversation about GOT. You're just sad, whiny, miserable fucks who probably only wasted their life reading the now non canon books because you had zero social life. You're a loser and it shows in every post you make.

Uhm sweatie, I watched it on my Samsung QLED 4K and it was perfectly fine. Maybe you should watch kino on something other than your phone

Hardly GRRM's fault that the show turned into shlock as soon as Dan and Dave had to write on their own

>ask question
>receive answer
>DOESN'T COUNT

Attached: 1546818041358.png (141x155, 3K)

It's really sad what they did to Westworld after an amazing first season simply because they had to push black women agenda. Sigh.

If the children of the forest (known as singers of the earth) are personification of earth and nature itself then that means them creating the white walkers is their "nuclear weapon" to fight against men (call it climate change if you will).

So white walkers not having a culture is alright I guess.

But history? 8000 years of history apparently...all unexplained.

Why did a HUGE WALL have to be built to keep them out if a little girl could end the whole thing when SHE LEARNED ABOUT THE WHITE WALKERS 2 EPISODES AGO.

Why did the white walkers come back after so long.

If they have control of seasons (year long winters) why not just bring winter all over westeros.

Ugh. kill me.

it's got nothing to do with the books you sperg, it's a shell of the show in early seasons

Angel ending is probably my favorite tv show ending of all time

>hurr durr capeshit

Wow, do a flip you worthless nigger, you’re as bad as capeshit fans

Lucky bastard.

Don't watch it. I don't even think I can explain it the whole thing, but the biggest bullshit of it all was that Dolores is not dolores but charlotte hale all along.

Those fucking directors brought twists for the sake of twists so that they could impress their community. I'm not even kidding, the directors were active on reddit before season 2 and probably catered to that to seem as shocking as possible.

Go read actually good grand fantasy like malazan or something, jesus christ.

He's literally a part of the people watching the series

I genuinely don't understand the people that enjoy the action. I enjoy watching the story unfold and the characters interact with it (Not in this case, of course). I really feel nothing when I see big battle set pieces. It's just filler to me

are you a woman or vegan?

No

sorry to say, you have autism

Nah

man, the wasted potential...

The only thing that would make me keep my HBO sub after the next 3 weeks is literally is Euron killed a ton of major characters. If that doesn't happen HBO can count on one less subscriber for however long I live.

Mad Men
Breaking Bad
The Wire
I personally like The Sopranos ending, but many didn't so I won't list it

Commander Tigh is legit an amazingly well written character who made an amazing support to Adama

that sounds like dogshit, this subverting expectations thing really needs to fuck off

The episode was fun to watch, but I don't know anyone who didn't start laughing hysterically when Arya teleported. If anyone watching this expected good writing and proper plot development then they deserve to be let down - for a long time now the show hasn't had such things. There are a few things that people got asspained at that is purely contrarian at this point.
>muh dothraki charge was bad tactical choice
Obviously. They could have just as easily died in a failed flanking maneuver halfway through the ep. The show hasn't actually had realistic tactics or battles for a long time. You could argue Oberyn I guess. Arthur Dayne was dual wielding swords lol.
>muh guys shooting arrows
really minor desu

For me the biggest complaints are
>ghost
Who was a character with unfathomable potential in all areas of the plot with rich symbolism and meaning being thrown away. People complaining about his size are fucking morons who don't understand what is important.
>Arya stealth section
>zero closure on the fire god
>no emotion shown for the dragons or ghost
>arya having no adequate build up for her power
>arya killing the big bad who was utterly wasted
the writers literally took a gigantic dump on Martin's effort and served it to the world, who ate it happily. People here don't seem to remember the sand snakes and dorne plot, the stannis destruction, the little finger annihilation... if you watched the show then and still expected it to be good now, give me a fucking break.

Attached: 1555549887967.png (663x412, 347K)

checked, however i do enjoy when all the dumb characters shut their mouths and shit just hits the fan for an hour. im into battle eps. i do wish the story was better but ive been checked out of thrones for a few seasons now so im not too butthurt about whatever happens. the army of the dead had the exact feeling of absolute terror that i imagined it would, great sound design. it was dark as fuck tho, which worked in its favor some parts but not all of it. do wish it lasted a bit longer, too...

Attached: lucasonset.png (1214x668, 1.65M)

Sadly is just all fell flat. The danger of the wights instantly disappeared for me when they came over the walls and it wasn't an instant lose for the defenders. So many fucking bodies in a such a "small" place, completely outnumbering the defending force. And all the fucking characters constantly marred in a sea of the undead, yet they all stayed alive. The battle felt like a farce to me

i actually think at least two of the survivors should have died in the first wave like the unsullied, just instantly buried. i guess brienne or sam or tormund all have stuff to do later but gimme at least one of those guys to really make it scary. like it used to be.

The worst part is the episode 4 preview shows some unsullied, dothraki and northmen somehow survived.

>sand snakes

Expecting the writers to fuck up a side story is believable, but THE CLIMAX OF THE ENTIRE FUCKING SERIES??

Literally everything asoiaf stood for was destroyed by dumb and dumber for "le epic surprise"

yeah but did you SEE ARYA KILLING the NK? wooah

Subverted!

youtu.be/dHitVxA7WwA

good nigga

I think you faggots really do have rose colored glasses.

Battlestar Galactica literally began every episode with "And they have a plan..."

There was no fucking plan. They even made a movie called The Plan and there was still no plan.

Hey remember when the main villain of the show just says "fuck this" and blows his brains out.

Hey remember when everyone just decides to throw all their advanced technology to regress to wiping their asses with leaves and buttfucking monkeys.

Seriously rethink your life if you're defending BSG's ending. BSG makes fucking Mass Effect's ending look competent.

I can only think of anime desu:
Cowboy bebop
Inuyasha
Sword art online

>ATLA
3 seasons is not long-running
>supernatural
can't just decide on the conclusion when it's still going, and 5 seasons is debatably long running

Not to mention Daenerys somehow has at least a dozen ship fleet right out of her asshole.
Not that I'm complaining too much about the ships themselves, it's the fact that it gives fucking Yara of all people a chance to slip back into the show and kill Euron for instance. Which would literally be a death knell for my interest in GOT or ASOIAF.

You aren't even trying to defend the book's quality and instead chose to defend it's existence. Not really a ringing endorsement.

this is really disingenuous. the books are really good, even with some flaws.

its okay to not like things, but how can you argue the books aren't much better than the show

Is my copy just total dog shit? It looks like a wave of pixels is coming when Night King's army first reached Winterfell.

Sopranos and The Wire for all their flaws still end in a satisfying and kino manner.

>it's existence

Basically they rendered it and then fucking downgraded that version for tv. That's why the darkness is so blotchy.

I watched it on HBO HD on a 4k TV, I still couldn't see shit my dude. They fucked up.

It's wrong to say the hero's journey plot is a fakeout given it's actually a hidden undercurrent of a series that presents itself as being grounded and borderline nihilistic at some points.

People picked up on the underpinning fantasy story because it was properly foreshadowed, and serves as a fitting subversion to all the short-sighted murder that otherwise covers the series.

One of these three things (or more) will happen. Mark my words.

1. Gendry will end up on the Iron Throne
2. Jon will kill Dany
3. Bran is the true villain

If not than yes this show is utter fucking garbage.

But a king would need to legitimize Gendry.

He is cersei and roberts one true born child, varys/bran would be the ones with the knowledge

No fucking way
>first the Farcry 3 knife'd death scene
>Now ME3 OST, without even slight credit
I didn't give enough shits to care for the direction they went with on how this series has played out, at this point I'm just watching to be done with it once its over. But holy shit, I've definitely lost some respect for the writers of the GoT series. At least End Game was more semi-decent than this.

Attached: 1275025188308.jpg (206x285, 8K)

Arya started out as one of my favorite characters, along with Tryion, Ned, and Robert. Tywin was really good along with Orlenna. I had a problem with the show in that they burned up most of the good characters really quickly and didnt provide replacements of equal quality. Arya's peak was when she was captured by Tywin and had a count of monte cristo plot when she went back east, but it was executed badly and i lost complete interest. Never liked Daenerys, and Jon's plot was so slow, I felt he was finally getting interesting after he came back to life. The dumbed down a lot of characters slowly and most plebs dont see it. My brother and friends get rabidly mad when I point out flaws with character arcs or quality in stuff like Game of Thrones, NuWars, End Game. Its so disappointing. I really think people are loosing critical thinking skills.

Attached: 1503880413744.jpg (1066x696, 611K)

Obviously this theory involves him not actually being a bastard you idiot. Holy shit you are stupid.

The worse part of this show is all the fanfiction that it spawned that use the TV show as the base rather than the superior book series

I think people just don't care that much. They are just looking to have some fun, I don't think it's something so deep for them.

Haven't even watched the new episodes and have no desire to. It's all been downhill since Tywin died and the last episodes I did watch were so bad they killed all hype.

It's like D&D don't understand what the series is about at all and once they ran out of source material they just started writing it like you would any generic fantasy action blockbuster.

1) even if Gendry is Cersei's son (which I don't think he is), there will need to be some proof somewhere. It's too late to add that to the story
2) That might happen, I think the show is starting to paint Dany as cruel and unforgiving. It might reach a point where Jon has to kill her to stop her from doing something terrible. Or she will kill Jon, and some other shit will happen
3) I don't think that's the case. I think there's more to Bran and that they will show.

> If not than yes this show is utter fucking garbage.
just because you're not right doesn't mean its garbage (even though it became garbage, but just wanted to point that out)

>We'll get Winds of Winter and nothing more.
That's really being generous

The more she drank

Robert never fully went through with fucking Cersei, ever. He would either pass out drunk during receiving blowjobs from her, or go fuck whores that would fuck him. In which, Gendry's birth was from an unwed mother. Where the hell have you been these past 8 seasons user? If Gendry is outed as Beratheon blood, he'd either die by Cersei's hands or Dany (if for some godforsaken reason, she hasn't had a character arc by next episode).

jesus christ no, are you fucking insane? if it had ended literally one episode earlier then maybe, but the finale was just fucking garbage

I agree. We will never see A Dream of Spring. And I also want his ending, and his writing. I liked all the books except for the 4th, which was a piece of shit to read.

If it really bothers you that much then you can make up your own ending to the series. Might be a really fun exercise if you're into world-building, you'd have to get really deep into the story's lore to make something that's convincing. Then you'd still get to enjoy the therapeutic aspect of the series without being distraught by an ending you hate. I'm being 100% serious here, you don't need the author's permission to expand on and play with the universe he made.

Or you can just wait for the canon ending, if it gets made. The show is a literal fanfic atm, not something to take very seriously.

bitch please, the only person who even told us Robert never finished in her was Cersei. Not exactly a reliable source if she doesn't want anyone to know she had a baby with him is it?

Dany would definitely try to kill him, but like I said she may die (possibly Jon would kill her when she made it clear it was her intention to kill Gendry)

Cersei did already try to kill him.

Where the fuck have you been for 8 seasons bro?

Does it ever piss you off that none of these motherfuckers are wearing full plate?

Wights couldn't do shit all against plate-wearing knights God damnit.

> bran gets established as the main villain in 3 or less episodes.

Ech. Dunno if its just me but I'd prefer a twist like this to have a slower burn. Sure there's the potential set-up, but having a sudden reveal doesn't seem super appealing.

a feast for crows is much better then dance, both are pretty shit tho

Also you seem to forget Cersei literally told Cat she had a beautiful black hair boy that died of a fever. You act like you know what is going on in this show, but clearly you haven't a fucking clue

The Sopranos, Spartacus and The Wire

the holy trinity of premium cable TV shows

I'm not the user you've been arguing with, but why would Cersei cast away her son? In the beginning, she wanted to have a son with Robert. It would also be safer for her.

Now, for Gendry to become king, there would need to be some proof of that fact. The show already presented evidence as to why Jon is Rhaegar's son, and his claim is legit. But there's no time for anything like that for Gendry.

I agree, but it is far better than the bran and NK story amounting to essentially nothing.

They also haven't shown us much of his visions for some time now (one of which is during the battle) so it's hard to see what he is actually thinking about and doing. They could try to explain it by going back and showing us what exactly he was setting in motion.

Please have sex. Soon.

The shield

I guess it depends on which characters you enjoy the most to read. Most of the characters I wanted to know about were in the 5th book.

George's idea to split the same timeline into two books by dividing the characters would be good if he didn't spend six fucking years writing the second part.

well said, OP

Attached: the mannis.jpg (1280x720, 49K)

We don't know exactly when she turned on Robert, it could have been after a baby was born. We know she legit hated the guy so it's possible she couldn't stand looking at the baby, and had it taken away and telling Robert it died of a fever (what she told Cat), shortly after its birth.

I agree it seems too late to have this specific reveal, but it would be a major fucking twist.

Also they could easily put Gendry on the Throne simply because he is quite literally the last known child of King Robert, even if he was a bastard. It's not like roberts brother are around or their children are around.

Indeed Gendry is the last known bastard son of Robert, as we know that Cersei had every other bastard killed.

It's an interesting theory, that Cersei would give up on her first child because of her hate towards Robert.

yea they should been released withen a few months of each other, but the fat fuck is a lazy asshole, I don't even care about wow or memory of li...I mean dream of spring, I just want another dunk and egg, god I hate that fat fuck

I hope someone just beats George to the punch. Anonymously writes and releases an unauthorized ending novel to the series. It would be an appropriate fuck you to a man who doesn't respect the relationship between himself and the investment of the fans.

especially because he did release a bunch of other books while we are waiting for him to finish ASOIAF as a pack of retards

Fanfiction isn't illegal if you make no money off of it. There is an established pattern on Patreon that fanfic writers can still receive donations, which are not legally considered profiting off of someone else's work.

So, if someone wanted to they could set up a patreon and ask for donations for living expenses while they write a proper ending. And the funny thing is any of dozens of good fanfic writers on the internet could do just as good of a job with it as GRRM, and probably finish the fucking thing in less than a year if they were working full time on it. There are many writers on patreon that churn out two or three books a year.
