This is actually putting me off watching any TV show longer than like 3-4 seasons that takes itself seriously. It seems every drama show I watch (supernatural, dexter, got, last ship etc) gets progressively shittier, boring, gradually ignores its own lore, jumps the shark hardcore, succumbs to pressure groups that throw fake outrage, the writers become so cocky that they think they're better than their audience and so on. One, some or all of the above.

I just realized how they didn't even subvert expectations.
Having the GURLPWR character just show up and kill the big bad out of nowhere is exactly what everybody should have expected after she singlehandedly killed the Waif and the entire House Frey.
The entire series turned into Capeshit in Season 5, they just followed through with the inevitable conclusion.

In comparison, Walder Frey decimated House Tully, Stark and all Houses of the North, as well as killing or routing all the loyal remainders of the Stark forces in the Riverlands.

The Night King waited 10,000 years to have less of an impact than Walder Frey.
