STD is said to be set in the Prime Universe which is technically in canon with the original timeline, but legally required to be slightly different for licensing reasons (hence why things like klingons, uniforms and Enterprise look different).

Hopefully CBS gains back full rights from Paramount and they can declare STD to be in an alternate universe

The truth is that there is no consensus because we don't watch STD in /trek/.

It's pretty shit. Started out better than S1, but that's not much. They "kinda" at least fixed some of the major continuity issues, by literally having a lord of the rings wrap up insert at the end where they go "well, I guess this is all terrible, no one is ever allowed to speak of it, we'll make changes to section 31, no more holo coms bla bla bla". It is still dumb that it is burnham centric, burnham is still the least intresting character, and the decision to make her spocks sister is still baffling bad.
Also: They should have started with a plot like this in Season 1, because starting your show with a mirrorverse plot before you even know your character is perhabs the dumbest move in star trek history.
