In my experience season 2 is usually the best season of just about every television show. You set the groundwork in season 1 and then you expand on the characters and storylines in season 2 and the show doesn't become stale yet

Season 4+ is post-movie, yes. Some would argue that first half of Season 4 actually wasn't that bad, but it was only up to second half of Season 3 level. Season 5-9b is irredeemable garbage. 9b and parts of 10a were almost decent. Then the series went to shit again.
