Remember when it was silly to even suggest the MCU could pass Star Wars in popularity?
This week my 8 year old nephew, 64 year old Dad, and 94 year old Grandmother all mentioned Endgame in conversation. The grandma just said some shit that she read about a superhero movie making a lot of money but still, it's out there now. My dumbass manager at the office even put his hand out and made that stupid Ironman blaster noise when he heard some people talking about the movie. Reminded me a lot of when people would make lightsaber noises.
Yes Marvel is more popular than Star Wars is currently. Will it be able to penetrate the greater culture like Star Wars did? Probably somewhat but Star Wars is pretty deeply ingrained in Western pop culture. Perhaps as time goes on and zoomers and millenials become adults the scales will tip in Marvel’s favour. Tony Stark is a household name which seems obvious now but if you told me that in 2008 it would be laughable.

reminder: Star Wars fans are more alpha. >disney makes awful star wars movies so the fans tells them to fuck off and lets solo flop and disney has to change their plans to milk the fan base dry
>MCUcks will still go see awful movies no matter how poorly made they are.
Jackson Hernandez
Your argument falls flat because there has yet to be an awful MCU film.

But what did they think about Star Wars, like TLJ or the recent teaser for Rise of Skywalker?
Oliver Lee
I thought Nu Wars fans are cucks but fuck these marvel fanatics love their quips and sucking hollywood dick.

Pretty sure my Dad and Grandma don't even know about them and my nephew doesn't seem to care for Star Wars. He isn't savvy enough to even know about the Rise of Skywalker trailer. I'm sure he'd think it was cool, he's 8 years old, but he hasn't ever mentioned Star Wars. Which leads me to believe that none of his 8 year old buddies talk about it at school either - that's how agelets like him learn about things. I know for a fact him and all his buddies spent all last week talking about going to see Endgame.
Zachary Cooper
I know movie fanatics who didnt even know that trailer came out. NuWars needs to die.

Just goes to show that Disney may have actually intentionally tried ruin Star Wars for the old fans along with the new generation.
>b-b-But Star Wars is a kid's fairy tale about Space Wizards! Even if their goal was just to sell toys, the kids couldn't care less for the pathetic horse shit that is Disney Nu-Wars.
What concepts from the MCU will have the cultural staying power of "the Force," "the Jedi," "the Dark Side," or "I am your father"? You know how no one can remember what happened in superhero movies 2 months after they see them? People were hyped for more Star Wars in 1999, 16 years after the last one was made. If they took a break from MCU movies for even 2 years their audience would fuck off and do something else and barely even remember that they watched it.
Eventually something new will displace capeshit, the audience will vanish overnight and people will remember it like disco. Star Wars is dead now but the MCU never really lived in people's imaginations outside of its billion-dollar promotional campaigns.
"I am Iron Man", the Infinity Stones, Thanos, "I Could Do This All Day", the Snap, Thor's Hammer and being 'worthy', Hulk Hulking out, Wakanda Forever, "The Avengers", Spiderman's webslinging.
The list is pretty big. I've seen all of the above come up in casual conversation and more. Infinity War in particular had plenty of quotes. The Snap is equally as jarring of a moment as "I am Your Father" was back in the 80s, and just as many kids saw that movie. And especially now that they reinforced the idea of the snap 3 times in Endgame, you can be sure that one will stick. When kids play pretend, the bow and arrow guy is Hawkeye now, not Legolas anymore.

Oh my gosh. Do you think there would be articles talking about the failures of these movies on a constant basis if it wasn't owned by Disney?

I piss on all things Disney. I haven’t watched a Star Wars film since episode VII came out, and I’ve never watched any of the Marvel films except for the first Thor film. Star Wars is dead. Original three told the real story as much as I need from that universe. Thanks.

Saw Endgame opening night and when the EP9 trailer came on people were audibly groaning. I heard people laughing and saying fuck this movie or I don’t care. I’m not even memeing for (Yous) since I thought the normies liked TLJ. Shit was funny lol
When the trailer for Nu Wars played at my theater everyone was on their phones, no one cared.
However for the Spiderman and Pikachu trailers..

You do know Disney make money from selling the license to produce toys and products, right? Not from directly selling them. Whether the toys sell is the license holders problem, not Disneys. Disney get their money either way.
Oliver Ward
Your dumb post would fool people if that screencap you responded to didn't have an article talking about Disney's report to stockholders.
