There'll be "no dragons," in the new Game of Thrones spin-off, according to George R. R. Martin.
>The author and creator of Westeros told The Hollywood Reporter in April 2019:
>"It hasn't started shooting yet, but they're getting very close to that. They have a great director and an amazing cast. I've been following along closely. I have my fingers crossed. It's different. It's definitely very different. It's set thousands of years in the past. You're looking at a whole different era of Westeros. No dragons, no Iron Throne, no King's Landing. It will be interesting to see what the fans make of that."
But that's accurate. I didn't read the books, but I read a lot of articles about GoT, and as far as I remember the time when the First Men arrived to Westeros and made war against the Children of the Forest was centuries before the Valyrians discovered and subdued dragons, let alone Valyrian's fall. Furthermore, the first arrival of Dragons to Westeros was only a few centuries (3 or 4, iirc) before the events of GoT, and this new show is thousands of years before said events.
Henry Stewart
Is HBO paying him to not write the rest of those damn books?
Michael Young
it's pretty obvious at this point
Cameron Perry
didn't they already cancel the prequel spinoff
Asher Cooper
Even before they started filming it was 100% certain he will die before finishing them. Nothing changed.
Gabriel Edwards
>Watch them turn this into an even greater shitfest than the original series. As long as they keep it short so that down the line half of the budget isn't for paying the actors and keep D&D away I don't think it will be bad
Owen Ortiz
Why would anyone here watch it?
Nicholas Gutierrez
D&D are shitting in the bed, thought. It will bomb.
It's gonna be neutered hollywood-Marvel tier tropefest
fuck off
Easton Campbell
there were dragons in ancient Westeros
Caleb Parker
I don't care if they make black characters retard. I care when they blackwash characters of other races for forced diversity. OC black characters are totally fine.
Oliver King
no, they aren't
Dominic Diaz
Why? Black people do in fact exist whatever your feelings about them. Part of the GoT map is basically Africa with elephants and shit. As long as they arent turning characters black that never were I don't care.
Daniel Brooks
OY VEY! THE SHECKELS WE WILL SAVE ON NO DRAGONS!
Carter Hall
there are no blacks there, but Brindled Men and no one even went there until the Targaryens thousands of years later. And there is no reason for 3 Summer Islanders. So this should be sending huge red flags
Jose Wilson
duh shit's expensive
James Carter
>There'll be "no dragons," I don't know what the quotation marks are supposed to mean, though I'm happy. No dragons means way less unnecessary CGI-spending. It's set before Aegon's Conquest, thus the Aegon's Fort, the collection of blades from Aegon's enemies and Balerion, Meraxes and Vhagar, Aegon I., his sister-wives Rhaenys, Visenya were not in place, at that point of Westerosi history, not even born. Get your shit together, newfag, this is a good sign for a good show. >Watch them turn this into an even greater shitfest than the original series. LMAO, read the World of Ice and Fire, or the Lords of Winterfell etc., you lack knowledge of the great backstories that GRRM wrote.
Marsh King, Red Kings, Barrow Kings, the Children of the Forests, Giants, Others, Rape of the Three Sisters, the NIGHT'S King. I could name you anything from the Northern history and it would be kino.
Bear island was acquired by a wrestling match between a Stark King and the Ironborn. Starks fought a warg king. Boltons wore human skins as coats. Manderly's arriving to build White Harbour. youtube.com/watch?v=dhUmwBzjlVc There weren't, in Essos the Valyrian shepherds were the first to tame dragons, hatched from dragon-eggs on volcanic nests.
They're casting a bunch of niggers to play westerosi characters

Bros, can you imagine the Andal Invasion with me?
>"Unwilling to allow their homeland to fall to these foreign conquerers, King Theon of House Stark, allied with the Red King of House Bolton, to defeat the Andal warlord Argos Sevenstar, at the battle of the Weeping Waters. Following their victory, King Theon, also known as the hungry wolf, sailed their ships across the Narrow Sea and attacked their enemy's homeland of Andalos in retribution, slaying many. Displaying their heads along the Eastern coast of the Northern territory, to deter future attacks."
>"Some time later, the Andals attempted another invasion, this time marching North, through the neck, only to be thrown back by the crannogmen, eventually retreating and accepting First Men rule in the North."
>Crannogmen >Descendants of First Men and Children of the forest >Led by based House Reed >Marchmen and border-guards to the South >Professional guerillas >Loyal to House Stark until death >Trained in hunting, fishing and marshland combat >Know how to fight with nets, bronze knives, three-pronged frog spears, leather shields, poison darts and arrows
Absolute kino.
Juan Harris
As long as they make it work in-universe. So they better all be Summer Islanders or from Naath or some unknown tribes in Sothoryos or wherever else in the world you want to place them because the First Men aren't ever described as black.
Alexander Torres
oh fuck you arent joking. I have just googled that spin-off and they are really going to have a bunch of niggers in the cast. Fuck "diversity".
Jace Turner
CGI is expensive
Colton Clark
>no iron throne So it's before Aegon's conquest. >thousands of years before So could be the first men coming to Eesteros, children of the forest WILL have cameo. Possible deeper explication about the creation of the night king and/or white walkers in general.
Jacob Murphy
I swear to god if they make the long night cannon in the show it’s going to make the entire white walker plot a giant plothole
Nicholas Bennett
*westeros
Dominic Harris
Wtf, is the show taking place on the summer isles or westeros?
Carson Fisher
>There weren't, in Essos the Valyrian shepherds were the first to tame dragons There were multiple accounts of dragons in Westeros. Even in the age of heroes. Even if the stories are false the first men obviously came into contact with dragons otherwise how would they tell stories about them?
Dylan Brown
>"In an interview with "The Hollywood Reporter" one of the authors of Game of Thrones, Bryan Cogman, talked about the spin-off set in the GoT-universe, for which he prepared a concept, together with George R.R. Martin. Apparently, HBO has decided against producing the spin-off series afterall." -30.04.2019 10:00am
Why do you assume that the dragons have to be subdued before the end up in Westeros? It's not like they couldn't fly unless rode. That's a ridiculous assumption that they had to be tamed before getting to Westeros
Blake Kelly
I guess one of the bosses watched S08E03
Hudson Johnson
just one of several spin-off series projects. you should tell them the whole info, retard
Joshua Walker
Just make a damn spinoff involving warriors from the Shadow Lands that do nothing but travel around and fight supernatural shit
Nolan Parker
>Even if the stories are false the first men obviously came into contact with dragons otherwise how would they tell stories about them? Name one (1) instance where the original tales and folklore of the First Men talked about dragons in Westeros.
Westeros was inhabited by Children of the Forest and Giants, there were no dragons. Read the WOIAF, GRRM explains the origin of human races and magical creatures
Simply from a biological perspective, what would dragons do in Westeros? They mostly eat sheep, goats and fish, though they can eat anything that they might catch and kill as well, like horses, pigs, cattle, deer etc. To reproduce and brood their eggs they need volcanic heat or large fires provided by humans, for which there is no evidence and no exampe, excep for Daenerys birth of her dragons. >The North Too barren and cold for inhabitance and hunt. >Dorne Too barren and dry for inhabitance and hunt. >Iron islands Too barren and rocky for inhabitance and hunt. >Vale >Westerlands Too barren and mountainous for inhabitance and hunt. >Stormlands >Crownlands Too barren and stormy for inhabitance and hunt. >Reach >Riverlands Nice, but they have no proper heat.
Austin Powell
Wait is this show going to be fanfic or based on events that GRRM has actually written about? If it's the former I'm not touching it.
Ryan Foster
There are no black characters in Westeros or essos except summer isles.
Luis Green
>Bryan Cogman Good fuck that fag.
Caleb Martin
And there are said to be wild dragons in the Shadow Lands. That way normies get their fill.
Isaac Jones
At most dragons really like to wander so maybe just have one really far off the distance that no one seeing it can identify what it is one time
Lincoln Barnes
Dropped so fucking hard
Dylan Watson
>Name one (1) instance where the original tales and folklore of the First Men talked about dragons in Westeros. Davos the Dragonslayer.
Noah Scott
This is the cast for the Old Valyria soon-off. The OP is about the Long Night spin-off.
Landon Wright
Yes, there are other ideas for the spin-off, Bryan Cogman's concept won't be it. Another prequel will come, which one, we can't tell.
I really hope for an Andal Invasion or similar kind of kino-tier backstory. Just keep the Summer islanders in the Summer islands or in trade ports, where they would show up.
Owen Johnson
>the past is black white bois cant handle this!!!!
So, the spin-ff won't feature Vallyria? I understand it will take place in Yi-ti and the old westeros during the age of heroes, but Vallyra was literally that powerful because dragons.
Eli Thompson
You're right.
Hopefully the long-night would be more bad-ass then "battle of winterfell" shit fest.
Connor Lopez
>already have spent millions on dragon animation/textures >eh lets not reuse those
RETARDS
Alexander Lopez
>Old Valyria Nope, this is the long night's cast.
Dylan Walker
No it's taking place during when the current day NK was planning to get stabbed in the balls by Arya-Stark.
Gavin Gray
>Yi-Ti is where the Long Night started >no asians Eh
John Long
>niggers in westoros I mean it could make for some good comedy kind of like Dave Chapelle in Robin hood Men in Tights
Anthony Collins
>living giants >children of the forests >giant ice spiders >undead Yeah naw the budget will get blown same as always >no elephants >no ice spiders >5 sec glimpses of a cgi wolf every 3 or so episodes >everything will be really dark to hid imperfections on the budget cgi dead and children
Joseph Torres
>"Davos the Dragonslayer is a legendary figure of the Reach who lived during the Age of Heroes. Tales describe him as a knight, even though knights came to Westeros thousands of years later, with the Andal invasion." Most of what we know about the Dawn Age, the Age of Heroes and the Andal invasion was written by maesters thousands and hundreds of years later, resulting in poor credibility.
The Andals did have stories about dragonslaying knights, perhaps because they were still under the impression of the expansion of the Valyrian freehold, which motivated them to migrate to Westeros in the first place. Generally people from the Reach like to boast about their origins, they will tell you that nearly every House in Westeros was founded by the direct descendants of Garth Gardener. Maesters and their everlasting scepticism and critical thought, lead them to hypocrisy sometimes.
(Theory also supported by modern maesters, as well as Dothraki and Ibbenese folklore)The First Men on the other hand probably orginated from the "womb of the world"in grasslands, that are today known as the Dothraki Sea, where they probably never had any contact with dragons.
Landon Walker
That's from the old-valyria spin off.
The one OP posted is from the Long-Night spin off.
Juan Anderson
Eh Not a bad resume actually . Stardust is one of my favorite movies so its possible this might not be complete shit. It cant possibly be worse than what Dave and Dan have been cranking out
Xavier Price
What about Serwyn and Galladon? Also there was certainly a sea dragon at the very least which was killed by the Grey King. >they will tell you that nearly every House in Westeros was founded by the direct descendants of Garth Gardener Well most houses claim descent from the Grey King. Or does sea dragon not count?

there were definitely dragons in westeros, but no one that could tame them unlike the valyrians

Instead of working on bullshit spin offs written by kikes why won’t he fucking write the book that people have been waiting on for a decade???
Jonathan White
Yeah and also your look and build will determine what you get cast as, at least for thrones. For me It's throug Extras NI, a casting agency. That being said a LOT of the unsullied were lanky polish lads for some reason so maybe people outside of the UK/IRE can sign up.
Jose Reed
Who cares? I started watching GoT because I enjoyed ASOIAF. After They ran out of material, the show turned to shit. So this new series will be season 5-8 of GoT but with OC donut steal characters(so expect plenty of "strong women characters" and non-whites). Why would I even bother watching it? I'll be glad when the current show is over so I can know how this shitshow ends and be done with it.
Chase Williams
so were the nigs just genocided afterwards seeing as there are none in GoT Westeros?
Owen Rogers
He's not "working" on anything besides getting a paycheck and maybe a credit as executive producer. He's not writing this new spinoff, it's 100% a D&D thing, he's not involved besides having created the universe its set in.

FINISH THE BOOKS YOU FAT FUCK
Joseph Murphy
I really would like to be as optimistic as you are, but it's been 8 years already. He wrote himself into a corner which made writing for ASOIAF a chore for him, so he no longer enjoys doing it, the show already spoiled how the story will end, he's a millionaire many times over thanks to all the money he made from the show. There is 0 reason for him to write another book, so I don't know why anyone is still holding their breath.
Gavin Williams
You fucking morons, the books are over. Everyone knows the entire story. Theres no point in writing any more. The TV show is final.
>There'll be "no dragons," in the new Game of Thrones spin-off, according to George R. R. Martin. >it´s definitely very different. It's set thousands of years in the past. You're looking at a whole different era of Westeros. No dragons, no Iron Throne, no King's Landing.

How many generals are there for this porn series? Why do you simpletons enjoy it? Awful writing, terrible acting, unrealistic costumes.. I could go on and on. This shit is the very definition of degeneracy.
John Lewis
I thought Westeros had dragon relatives like wyverns or something like that
Parker Allen
There's barely any nudity anymore, and when it happens it's incredibly brief.
Jack Campbell
>Plot by DABID... Its like you didnt watched anything from Season 5 upwards
Yes, because women in his books are very useless and HBO is not fond of the magic either. They just want to use the setting and the ip and anything he writes would ruin that
Isaiah Cooper
>because women in his books are very useless
Austin Martinez
so did this idiot literally sell HBO his entire IP or something? or is he content with them just making endless trash in his name as long as he gets a cut?

I hope they have the fish people that created/inspired the Iron Islands culture
Jayden Ward
>spinoffs
Great, i was so fucking happy when Breaking bad ended so i didnt have to hear about it anymore, same with dexter and other shows. I was looking forward to never hearing about GoT again and lo and behold now I have to sit through incessant spinoff shite shat out of Gurms putid ass
Aiden Rivera
The prequel sounds interesting. Anything will be better than this D&D trash. HBO also said they're going to spend big bucks on it right out of the gate. Naomi Watts has been cast.
Here is the description: >According to HBO, the new series will be around 5,000 years before the events of the main drama during a time known by Game of Thrones characters as the Age of Heroes, a period of history when iconic and near-mythical figures had all sorts of unusual adventures.
More specifically, HBO have said the series will chronicle “the world’s descent from the golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour.”
They added: “From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know.”
