To be fair, the blowing up the Sept was NOT seen as a fuck up.

It put the fear in everyone at Kings Landing, as far as showing the lengths Cersei will go to in order to kill her enemies. The Tarleys supported her afterwords, because Jamie promised to make them rulers of High Garden once they helped Jamie eliminate the last of the Tyrells (and even then, had to play upon their fear of the Dothraki).

Meanwhile the Iron Bank was 100% on board with Cersei wiping out the High Sparrow because the guy in charge didn't care much for Fundamentalists. And pretty much took the Tyrell fortune, no questions asked, as payment in full for all of the Crown/Lannister's debts because Cersei knew that the Iron Bank was secretly involved in the slave trade and that Danny would cost them money, if not outright kill them off.

To be fair, the people of Kings Landing are stupid as fuck and Cersei rules by fear and oppression.
