Finally. A movie with a decade of hype behind it is going to dethrone a 3D tech demo from 10 years ago as the highest grossing movie.
It's going to beat Avatar
its front loaded like every marvel movie
kys
It's gonna be close. I don't think it's going to be as leggy as IW.
It has no replay value. People won't go and see it multiple times like they did Avatar.
It collapses in week 2 after so many rushed to watch it in the opening weekend.
this, it's going to be real close
the runtime may hurt it in the long run. still quite the feat
Also TFA domestic is going down too
Infinity war had 55% second weekend drop. even if endgame drops 60% it will still make 145 million, and that's just domestic and not counting the monday-thursday weekdays which are pretty big as well.
The reason it grossed so high was because of the simultaneous market opening
What does that matter, the entirecu has several times the amount avatar made, and not a single movie flopped
damage control
Infinity War's combined opening weekend was 860 million when adding all territories. Endgame still beat it significantly with 1.22 billion
If it crosses 2b this weekend (and it's likely that it will), then Avatar is done and it will be a matter of crossing 3b or not
>and not a single movie flopped
Incredible Hulk
The First Avenger
Ant-Man 2
only hulk flopped
first avenger made money from dvd sales
and ant man 2 underperformed (relative o mcu standarts but didn't lose money
>blue Pocahontas 3D tech demo with zero cultural impact is #1
>bloated, badly written capeshit quip fest marking the final culmination into soihood is #1
Which is worse for cinema?
capeshit has some measure of ambition, even though it fails in a lot of ways
avatar is more competent but creatively bankrupt
doesn't matter, there's not one good movie in the top 20
Avatar
Titanic
Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Avengers: Infinity War
Jurassic World
Marvel's The Avengers
Furious 7
Avengers: Age of Ultron
Black Panther
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2
Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
Avengers: Endgame
Frozen
Beauty and the Beast (2017)
Incredibles 2
The Fate of the Furious
Iron Man 3
Minions
Captain America: Civil War
>Star Wars: The Last Jedi
That proves you wrong
>Furious 7
fucking hell
>blue Pocahontas 3D tech demo with zero cultural impact is #1
Listen here you reddit tourist. The script for Avatar was written before Pocahontas was even released.
Way to contribute to the board with such a great thread, OP!
>a decade of hype behind it
thanos only appeared in 2012 and only got up from his chair a got a single stone in 2018
it's not going to make any more money guys, everyone that's going to see it has seen it already, it's front loaded and won't have any legs trust me.
This is the real list capeshitters/redditors
I haven't seen any MCU movie in a theater since Avengers 1. But I might go see Endgame if schedule allows once the hype dies down so I can see it without fags cheering in the theater.
I went to see it at a 9:30 a.m. showing today, Tuesday. The theater was packed. Not sold out, but solidly packed, especially for an early morning showing in the middle of the week.
I think it's got staying power.
Tick tock.
