GoT is dead and I'm in the mood for political intrigue.
Is this worth the watch?
GoT is dead and I'm in the mood for political intrigue
Yes but seasons 1-3 are by far the best. The Anne Boleyn arc is the most compelling because it drives the reformation
Prime smirkfu plus Sarah Bolger. Rhys Meyers is a bit jarring at first because he's not a big guy like Henry, but you soon get used to it. Sam Neill as Cardinal Wolsey and Peter O'Toole is the pope IIRC. Also young superman if you are female or a massive gay.
I honestly can’t picture anyone else playing young Henry now that I’ve seen this. He really captured the charisma and volatile/obsessive behavior that was described about Henry.
H-how do I get smirkfu to look at me like that?
Woo her
Yes.
For other Henry VIII kino see Wolf Hall.
Who is that dashingly based man on left?
this
watch season one of Rome. Pure kino
Season 2 when?
Goes to shit in later seasons (like almost any show really), but definitely worth a watch if you like historical type fictiondrama. Couple great fapworthy scenes, easy nuts busted to smirkfu letting him fuck her but not allowing him to cum
Young Cavill is great in it as well. Not a waste of time to watch at all.
it's pretty bad, acting and visuals aside. they also miscast Henry quite badly, he was meant to be a huge, imposing, absolute unit
just watch Rome
It's camp/cheese kino.
OP, these guys are right.
Just watch both, obviously.
His relationship with his first wife and the way she acts towards him even after everything he's done is way too fucking real. Had a woman like that who genuinely loved me through all the stupid shit I've done just like him and I eventually lost her. Couldn't finish watching because of this.
It's watchable for sure
OP, watch this.
It has actual good dialogue and political intrigue. Not the kind of "political intrigue" twitter fags are having a hard on for after the latest GoT episode, but proper political intrigue that lives up to its name
war of the roses is more interesting than Henry VIII
they keep on making shit about the wrong Henry
Whenever the author finishes the next novel.
Henry Cavill is a horrible actor and is typically bad in the Tudors
the rest of the actors are great for the most part though
Henry VIII was a massively huge, fat man with red hair and a huge beard.
Let's cast a black haired, clean shaven skinny manlet in the role.
Perfection!
The costumes are definitely better anyway
He wasn't fat in his younger days, but yeah he was over 6ft.
I felt awful for Catherine of Aragon. All she wanted was to give him sons and love him and he did her so dirty
as I remember ithe anne bolyen episodes were top tier, later it went dull but picked up again when it turned out one of his wives was cheating on him
Got bored with it 3 seasons or so in. But good up until a point
Is The Borgias any good?
>As a young man, Henry VIII was considered to be the most handsome prince in Europe. He was tall, standing at six foot two which was taller than the average man of the time. He was broad of shoulder, with strong muscular arms and legs, and had striking red/gold hair.
Joss Stone's terrible accent, I think she was trying to do German or something.
He was a chad when he was younger.
Sons of anarchy
Not formally political, but it's pretty interesting.
>May I visit your bedchamber tonight, user?
What's the proper response?
goddamn what a nip tease
Yes. He was 190cm with red hair and massive muscles.
The Katherine Howard episodes were good. Always found it interesting that the two wives Henry ultimately sentenced to death were cousins.
Always thought the Irish lady you see @ 5 seconds was a great MILF. She is also in that show Orphan Black which was pretty good.
Which shows are best out of The Tudors, The Borgias, Borgias: Faith and Fear, Wolf Hall, etc?
I expect Cavill to be bad though. That's why he's great in it. Typical Cav.
1540 beastmode
Yes, definitely. It is basically a story of a fratboy who falls head first into puddle and gets so scared that he drags entire Europe into ridiculous religion schism and decades long war.
The series is one of the better historical dramas and the main lead is excellent. Addictive.
Yeah it was supposed to be German. They should’ve cast someone else the real Anne of Cleaves was allegedly so homely and fat that Henry couldn’t even bring himself to pity bone her
Go fuck yourself, Dr. Strange.
This is the actess that was supposed to play Daenerys.
He should have got fat for the final season though, old Henry was a big guy
She would’ve been way better
Annabelle Wallis was in it, pre-nose job and Peaky Blinders.
Holy shit 1540 was a juggernaut. Imagine that fucker riding at you on his presumably giant horse
Damn this guy was legit beautiful in his prime
Would have been funny to see him in a fat suit.
D & D have shit taste, what else is new?
ayylmao with nice hips
1544 is like a cheap horror remake where the guy wears a boiler-suit and they ran out of budget to complete the rest of the actual armor
>Let your husband lick it off
she looked beautiful in the Tudors, shame about her personal life
something related this thread since im reading utopia did he fuck up? why was he so pope cucked?
I love how many of them afford quick & convenient crotch access, and allow the royal junk to be observed by all.
1527 got the drip
it also drives my dick into my hand.
I love alienfus
we all do
>KINGSLAYER GET IN HERE
U N I T
I wonder how many times the squires had to hit just the codpiece during "training".
More wives, Your Grace?
What do you think of utopia?
that must be extremely uncomfortable
I'd hate to wear something like that over my tummy
topkek at that filename
>Costumes look better than a show that has close to ten times the budget
OOF
I go back and forth on this. I think Thomas mostly was torn between the church and his friendship with Henry, and as memory serves he really like Catherine of Aragon (everyone did) and thought Henry was making a grave mistake casting her off for a heretic mistress who was slipping Henry the works of John Calvin. He probably just knew what was coming
>Rhys Meyers is a bit jarring at first because he's not a big guy like Henry
Henry was only fat at the end of his life, when he was young he was famous for his athleticism.
>why was he so pope cucked?
Most people were. Even Henry didn't really care about church reform, he wrote a pamphlet condemning Luther and was good friends with the previous Pope. He only did it because he needed a male heir and Catherine of Aragon was old and busted (I think she had three stillborn children or miscarriages). The English Reformation is really an accident, the Spanish King was the nephew of Catherine and his army had just sacked Rome and captured the Pope, so Henry couldn't get an annulment. Even more stupid is the fact that Henry had to get special dispensation from the Church to marry Catherine in the first place, as she was married to his brother first.
>The king used to make a show of planting his leg on a stool during meetings, just to flex his enormous calf muscles
What a mad lad.
GODS I WAS STRONG THEN
Absolute chad
I think the Boleyns also worked pretty hard to make Henry paranoid about the church and its members in his court.
Catherine’s sterility is partially Henry’s fault, she had some serious complications during an earlier pregnancy which was never addressed by doctors, and developed into an infection that nearly killed the poor lass. Ferdinand was reportedly outraged at hearing about their negligence towards his cherished daughter.
Of course, Big Henry didn’t see it that way, and turned to Leviticus and that damnable passage about how laying with your brother’s wife will curse your offspring, and that caused his path to reformation.
>early 1500s
Barely any difference between good & bad medical care. The ones who accidentally did things right still had little idea why.
I think Henry had a certain type of disorder or syndrome as well though. His male heirs were weak and frail and died very young and those are the ones who weren’t stillborn or deformed like Anne’s stillborn son
Superman
yes
and more enjoyable than the tudors imo
Medici is pretty solid, though I've yet to finish season 2. Production value is pretty great and Renaissance aesthetic is pretty good too.
The Young Pope with Jude Law too.
don't watch it, your dick is not prepared
season 2 was pretty meh compared to the first, but the ending was kino as fuck
People used to drop dead of all kinds of illnesses back then, life was pretty random. Quite surprising Henry made it to his 50s despite being massively obese, with an unhealed ulcer on his leg and serious brain damage from a jousting accident. The last one supposedly changed his personality making him the tyrant we think of today. But then Mary was fucking mental as well, so maybe it was genetic.
i was just about to start season 2 tonight
it's an entirely new cast right?
Cool. I'll probably finish it this week then. Back burner continues to grow.
>notices your papal bulge
owo
Borgias is good but also the euro one is good for different reasons. The euro one has worse acting but better over all. uS one has Geoffrey Rush and the blonde chick
Holliday Grainger. 10/10 would incest and annoy Popedad.
>they didn't fuck
Still mad
Yeah. It has Bradley James in it. I like him.
you mean jeremy irons?
Mary’s childhood was near-constant torment, between seeing her mother die in grief and being declared a bastard by her own father, I can see how she might have been a little unhinged.
s1-3 is absolute kino. most of the cast is solid, some are great.
costumes and sets are really good.
plotwise it´s interesting with, as stated itt, real politics instead of got retardness.
in terms of dormers hotness i would say the tudors is for her what the dreamers was for eva green or total recall for sharon stone. absolute prime.
later seasons fall off but 1-3 is 8.5/10 at least. watch it OP.
the scene where he had to fucking stand behind the curtain and listen to her consummate her marriage
FUUUUUCK
I love her big round pale moonface tbqh.
Yeah it's actually pretty good. Mary is the best girl
>in terms of dormers hotness i would say the tudors is for her what the dreamers was for eva green or total recall for sharon stone. absolute prime
Try Casanova
Was a bit shit at the time but pretty good by current standards.
Wish there was another season of the Tudors with Queen Mary going batshit and burning motherfuckers for heresy.
Francis was a Chad, Henry was a Brad trying to become a Chad.
Flawless psycho gf
>Challenge frog king to wrestling match
>lose
What did Henry mean by this?
Henry was kind of a cunt.
this and the borgias is all you need brotha
