It was better just for the first act.

Endgame is 10x the film The Dark Knight ever was.

Literally a film about a villain with no real motivations or provided origin. Carried by Heath Ledger's method acting alone and Christian Bale unironically being the worst Batman isn't enough to top what the MCU acheived. There's no conclusion or resolution that even takes place within TDK. The Dark Knight Rises is literally a better movie than TDK, unironically, helped in part by the "For You" scene still remaining as the single greatest work of kino mankind has ever created. I'll give Nolan that one.

But Endgame is a film far beyond the scope of anything in the Dark Knight Trilogy. A story told over 11 years and 21 films, tying across more different superheroes, hero and villain factions in a battle on the scale of which has literally never been presented in film form. The amount of storytelling that's been wrapped up in a single film spread across various franchises in the MCU at once is kind of hard to even wrap your brain around, it's incredible that movies like Infinity War and Endgame even exist.

Endgame will shatter Avatar's record, and remain the biggest and most universally acclaimed film of all-time for at least 10-20 years.
