Literally all they needed to do is have the same ending except it's a random wight that jumps at the Night King out of nowhere. Then when it pulls the knife you realize it's Arya wearing a wights face and that's how she snuck up on NK. Could have been kino and made use of her actual talents and faceless magic. I'm way more interested in the battle to come at kings landing. We will see something much more intriguing than simply good vs evil. We will see betrayal, cunning, tyranny, and a whole array of mixed emotions.

The entire story, books included, failed on this very point. It's basically been King's Road: The Drama in terms of Westeros. The rest of the map is a prop for the background, didn't have anything like the scope of it's potential.

For an apocalyptic battle it had a very good survival rate for named characters
