Reposting from the other thread but I liked it for the most part. Everything being so dark was annoying at times but was also effective for atmosphere. I like Arya I really do but her teleporting behind and somehow ABOVE the army of white walkers to shove a dagger into the nights king was pretty anti climatic. I mean I guess he put up a bit of a fight trying to grab her but otherwise he kind of went out like a bitch.

Also what’s the deal with the shows lore, maybe someone could explain it to me because it’s kind of muddled , were we to believe that the nights king was the end of the world threat that the “prince who was promised” would stop? Is it possible it was something else? It doesn’t make sense for Arya to be the prince who was promised based on the rules I thought the show laid out for that

I even tried my hardest to turn my brain off and just enjoy it, but no.

The battle at the start was visually beautiful with Mel lighting up the Dothraki swords but it was some of the stupided strategizing I have ever seen. Not using the dragons from start, charging blind against a horde of zombies, hiding the frail in a crypt when your enemy can raise the fucking dead.

I'm split on Arya killing the NK, on one hand her sneaking up on the dead was set up in that contrived library scene, on the other Arya never had anything to do with the NK storyline so her doing it feels unearned.

Preston was only half right. His comparisons accounted for the "chosen ones" males to save the day. He should have replaced Luke with Leia, and said Hermione defeated Voldemort in HP 5. Jon Snow was the chosen one; Arya killed NK.

I think my biggest problem with the whole "Arya is the hero who saves the day and kills the night king" thing is that her character arc was already complete. Its been complete since she made it back to winterfell. But now Jon Snows character arc is permanently broken. His whole plot revolved around killing the night king, hes the one who we saw kill a wight for the first time, he's the one who has actively pursued the night king, he united the north and convinced danaerys to fight with him. The night king was his big fight to have. Not his 18 year old sister while he was hiding behind a wall for ten minutes. He didn't even get to face the night king. Its so disappointing to have him hype up this battle and expect so many deaths and ultimately it was all filler up until the last twenty minutes. I can count the "important" characters that died on one hand
