If the joker movie is actually good and does well, I bet it will make a huge dent in the impact of endgame's influence for 2019.

The HP movies were also more emotionally impactful since an entire generation grew up alongside the characters in real time. Marvel is just a bunch of glorified TV episodes that are loosely connected.

I genuinely don't get why everyone is so impressed by the MCU having a shared universe. They've only utilized it somewhat meaningfully twice, outside of the big event films.

The movies themselves sure, but Lucas made sure to keep the brand alive and in public consciousness throughout the whole time, so that by the time '97 rolled around and Ep. 1 hit theatres people were camping out to see it, rather their eyes over a past franchise getting an unnecessary soft reboot.
Like I get the zoomers here are too young to remember the prequel episodes hitting theatre, but it was an absolute cultural milestone when Ep. 3 came out. People who watched Star Wars as children were taking their own children to see it. The MCU doesn't compare.

Kind of but not really. It wasn't until the Thrawn Trilogy came out that Star Wars was sort of revived and kept relevant. There was a good 8 year period where all there was was just the OT, some comics, and a tabletop game. Even then I'm not sure if that was entirely on Lucas. I think he just let creative minds have at it with later stories while he came up with the prequels.
