I fell asleep to Blade Runner first time I watched it. I love the movie and have watched it many times since then, but I was tired that day and the music/atmosphere helped me fall asleep.

To be fair you gotta be high iq to enjoy boring dragging bland movies, the more boring and bleak the more superior you are for enjoying it!

there's nothing wrong with falling asleep to movies, especially when they have soothing aspects
but people who try to stay awake by paying attention to their phones are pure cancer

Lawrence of Arabia is amazing and timeless look into the human spitit, Citizen Kane is a bit corny but is mostly clever and has some interesting messages, 2001: A Space Odyssey is just a pretentious series of slow moving special effects that people only pretend to enjoy because they were told in advance that they had to.

People always go on about A Clockwork Orange, and I think it's definitely an interesting piece but the pacing is so random and it's packed with so much fucking nonsense that it's hard to take it seriously as a story, it's basically a variety show.

I turned this off after an hour. What the fuck was the appeal?

Brazil

Come back when you grow up, we'll still be here to discuss where your lack of ambition led you.

You have to connect more than 2 neurons to appreciate that movie.

That's why Welles put the bird jumpscare in there to wake people up. Really thoughtful of him, actually.

Lawrence of Arabia is the kind of movie that actually is boring if you don't watch it in the cinema. It lives off it's spectacular visuals and size. That's why it was shot on 65mm. The images are so full of detail that the slow pace actually makes sense, as you have to take in all that information. If you watch it on the small screen, it just seems slow. The same goes for 2001 . As a rule of thumb, if it's an epic movie shot on 65mm then it probably isn't fully enjoyable on the small screen.
>t. seen both in 70mm showings and finally understood the hype

t. Capeshit lover

see

fuck this flick

The first half was boring. Nic's rage is the only thing worth watching for

Over FIVE HOURS of sweaty nazis in a tin can. I wanted to kys myself

I watched both on a small screen. Lawrence was boring, 2001 wasn't, except for the dumbass monkey part.

Can't believe they managed to rip off dune this blatantly.

I don't get the appeal.

I had torrented 4K lawrance of arabia last year. The visuals are fucking amazing. I wanted to upload a few snapshots just to show the quality (each image is 11mb naturally, can't post directly)

I read somewhere that 70mm analog films can be remastered upto 12K digital resolution. So I just went and downloaded every remastered analog film that's shot using 35mm and above. Each film is 50GB on average.

some images (imgur doesn't support uncompressed images i guess):

Yeah this movie just sucked.

I'd kill for eyes like that.

BLADE RUNNER 2049 AND ALITA

It varies by spectator, some people can enjoy them on the small screen, some can't. But in any case, watching a big-screen projection in 70mm or 4K is necessary for the full experience, and makes the much more enjoyable. There's 70mm prints of both going around, if you ever manage to catch a showing, absolutely go for it.
I unironically almost cried from the beauty of watching LoA on the big screen.

Film can be remastered at any resolution, it doesn't have a specific resolution to it. Equivalences are often made based on the grain, but it can vary widely (original negative vs interneg or projection copy, type of film stock used, etc.). You can remaster 16mm film at 12K and will get all the detail of the grain and film texture.
That said, Lawrence of Arabia was recently restored on 8K for new 70mm prints which are going around, and you can't tell that it's a digital remaster, so it works fine.

then you'll get the punishment you deserve

I heard they remastered old shits into 8K way before because of the danger of negatives getting corrupted.

>implying naptime core isn't the comfiest tier of film ever

Attached: das boot 1.jpg (1800x1303, 362K)

I watched the 2.5 hour version and it was long enough. Isn't the five hour version a series, though? So you can watch one episode a day or something. I don't think it's meant to be marathoned.

>he doesn't know how das boot is supposed to be watched
wew lad

>negatives getting corrupted
kek no offense it's just kinda funny how you use digital language on analogue media. Negatives degrade or get damaged, they don't get corrupted.
Anyway idk about that, seems sketchy since 8K remasters are hella expensive and need a shitload of digital storage. 2K or 4K seems more likely for films that aren't bigass masterpieces shot on 65mm.

wizard of oz 8K was around 22tb or something (~45mb per frame).

sex

This movie, fell asleep, cooked food, did dishes, It just never ended. Whats enjoyable about a bunch of men sailing on a boat? They didn't visit any fun locations and even the areas they landed on nothing happened.

Attached: 91_midi.jpg (1000x655, 41K)

>watched this movie in cursed webms on /gif/ in the wrong order
>and this version
>and playing backwards
>don't want to see the movie because it can't compare with the bizzare as fuck experimental burroughs-esque cutups versions I've seen

noice

tits or gtfo

sorry it's 160mb per frame. So there is basically no technology to play high bitrate 8K movie since even the best nvme ssds can go up to 3.2gb sequential read.

Based girlfriend poster.

I might give this another chance though. I was stoned the last time.

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
the only movie that I've fell asleep twice while watching

>So there is basically no technology to play high bitrate 8K movie
ironically except optically printing it on film fucking kek

dude are you guys me? all of those movies have bad special effects and are old and everyone talks so fucking stupid like

>Whats enjoyable about a bunch of men sailing on a boat?
Woman detected.

got through it on my 3rd attempt

wasn't worth it

it was just hipster visual wank
tries too hard

if it was a woman with any taste whatsoever she'd have enjoyed looking at a bunch of strong, clever, hot men for over 2 hours. You think women who are into capeshit watch it for Black Widow or Captain Marvel? Sheeeeit
