The point is that it wouldn't matter if the made it a diversified cast. The story is there and if they somehow managed to keep it from turning it into a total cgi shitfest like they did with the Hobbit, the movies would still be as good. Because the story is there.

On second thought: they could turn some of the main characters with women, that would fuck it up.

Idris Elba could play Gandalf for all I care. It would still be good, if not even better.

>The figure of Gandalf is particularly influenced by the Norse deity Odin[11] in his incarnation as "The Wanderer", an old man with one eye, a long white beard, a wide brimmed hat, and a staff. Tolkien, in a 1946 letter, nearly a decade after the character was invented, wrote that he thought of Gandalf as an "Odinic wanderer".[2] Much like Odin, Gandalf promotes justice, knowledge, truth, and insight.[12]

I guess we’ll have to wait and see with the amazon show. I wonder how niggified it will be.

Can someone explain to me definitively why the Hobbit movies weren't as big as the trilogy?

As bad as you need in order to feel victimized, OP. Remember, helium never says no.

I can't prove my point but I *think* a large swathe of people picked up on the gross cynicism behind it.

>Gandalf promotes justice, knowledge, truth, and insight

yeah but odin's a cunt. a cunt!

lmao

the Hobbit is a 100 page children's story that Tolkien wrote to read as a bedtime story to his keedz. it doesn't work as a three picture epic

They tried going for the tone of LOTR and made it a trilogy even though there's just not enough content for it.
It's obvious it wasn't a passion project and it was made solely for the money.

Remember the Hobbit 3?

I want a LOTR movie with prime Ernie Hudson (Ghostbusters 2 era) as Aragorn

Why are incels so obsessed with black people?

You miss the point entirely, it doesn't matter who plays the characters, it's about the ham fisted liberal agenda that gets shoehorned in to try and make people relate it to real world politics.

Copulate.

because your kind keeps shoving them down our throat

It was too plastic and had too much cgi. Best moment was that musical reference to the LOTR score in the first Hobbit, that hit me hard

Had this thought this morning, scary

Dillute.

LOTR was massively cut down and had to make hard decisions as to what could be kept, and what they'd have to weld.
The Hobbit was also massively cut down, but did so while simultaneously adding in vast quantities of bloat that nobody in their right mind would care about.
