Those neutral countries during the cold war were economically poor since they were not align with either Western powers or the Soviet bloc. So despite people now using the term wrongly, it isn't completely wrong to call a poor country "3rd world".

I watched the movie today and I live in Japan. Every single movie I watched here until now has been dead silent, and it's a joy to watch literally anything. Not today though, when Cap got the hammer and started fighting, some fucker behind me started clapping in this annoying quick way, to the dismay of the entire theater. When the credits ended this person started clapping again and it's when I noticed that it was a gaijin with a NYC shirt, no doubt American.
