Depends. I watched Handmaid's Tale until three episodes of the second season before I dropped it for its obvious far-left ideology. I watched Vikings until the second episode of season three before I dropped it out of boredom. I dropped Downton Abbey until episode 6 (I think) of season 4 when they shoved interracial relations in our faces.

When they start to deviate from the comfy chemistry they built up and add some new twist or some contrived shitty drama I'm supposed to care about. And then it becomes some sort of labyrinthian maze of the mind of like four different writers. And I just can't be bothered to give a fuck.

There are some exceptions. But they are few and far between because they establish that new characters and dramatic tension from the onset. Or they keep progressively ramping up the stakes to either be funnier or crazier or action packed or all of the above.
