The best horror film made
An overrated “horror” movie that teenage girls obsess over for some reason
The best pedo film ever made
Yea Forums, everyone
teenage girls can barely even look at jack nicholson for a whole movie
A shitty movie made by a meme director
An overdone public service announcement about frostbite.
Is the Doctor Sleep movie going to address that?
The Shining: Huge hit with the teens.
A good movie.

What I still don't get about this movie is the scene where someone is getting sucked off by another dude in a fursuit.
A movie vastly different from the book
I suppose I meant millennial teens, zoomers are too brain dead to enjoy anything
Maybe I’m a fucking brainlet but I never thought much about his presence in that photo, just figured it was the hotels way of claiming his soul or something
>You've always been the caretaker
What else is to take away from it?
Apparently there are theories that the film is actually about reincarnation and past lives and Jack is predetermined to be evil or something I read online about people who have discussed that final shot as if it is a mystery but to me it always just conveyed how thoroughly the hotel corrupted him and now it owns him
According to Stephen King, "shit"
Sort of. Keep in mind he's also baphomet-posing (google image search to confirm this) and he's gone back in time to join the overlook's golden-age. He resented his family for holding him back as an artist, now he's 'made it'. But made it where? America's elites aren't a healthy crowd. All sitting on a pile of bloody bones, or 'a burial ground'. He had to be willing to destroy his family to make it, and now that he's there it doesn't appear he can get out.
Why would the Hotel accept him? He utterly failed at his task.
King has been losing it since the van ran him over. He’s obsessed with Dark Tower bullshit so much he’s still writing about Ka in fucking 2019 like anyone ever gave a shit.
When he isn’t rambling about trump he’s going off about dumb shit like this. As much as I like King he can be borderline retarded
I just imagined that the hotel is haunted and it got to him and that butler dude in the toilet.
Someone post the webm for old time's sake
That is the hole. He didn't kill his family. You could say it accepted him because he always belonged there and attempting to kill his family was just him acting on his already worthy nature. I actually read the book before first seeing the movie, something that struck me was that Nicholson looks ready to kill his family at a moment's notice from the first minute of the film while the book is presented more like cabin fever and building neurosis.
He wasn't an utter failure I'd say. He appeared to have the right stuff, and the hotel, or the forces that inhabit the hotel, seemed to appreciate that.
Last thing I read was his doctor sleep book.
Fuck me if I ever read a nu-king book again.

This is also one of the reasons why King detested the movie.
I understand King's frustration with the film since the only similarities with the novel are character names and settings.
For what it's worth I'm glad they both exist and they each have their merits - the movie is so much different than the novel that any cries of "well that's not how it happens in the book" are completely worthless since it isn't trying to be a visual version of the novel in the first place.
King's book seemed to be onto a lot of the same themes. He wrote the overlook as some kind of hotbed of sleezy elite activity built on an indigenous American burial ground. That's the thematic foundation for what Kubrick did too.
His writing has definitely suffered big time. The Outsider is alright but it devolves into pure political hysteria every 50 or so pages. Also the monster references Ka out of of fucking nowhere for one second before dying like anyone reading King in 2019 gives a fuck about a series that ended in 2004.
a movie about the native american genocide
