>say that it’s pointless to go back in time to try and stop events because it doesn’t affect the future just makes new timelines
>firmly established DBZ rules of time travel
>later on old Captain America appears in the main timeline even though when he went into the past it would have just been an alternate timeline

Da fuq?

I guess he came back through the machine or whatever. The only plot hole was that he wasn't in the spot but somehow in the bence a few feet away without an explanation.

*bench

he came back to the original timeline leaving his new life behind

The logic of the movie is flawed and retarded, but if the stones were returned, there are no alternate timelines. It all comes to a close.

Rogers never returned the stone Loki stole, he only returned the 1970 version of the stone.

No it doesn’t one timeline doesn’t affect the other

I was really curious what happened with that. Where did Look go with it? Was that one just lost forever?

The best ive been able to surmize based on dialogue and what was mechanically shown is pic related.

How the causal loop works i have no fucking clue but the rest of the time travel is explained and mechanically consistent.

That doesnt matter, that stone never left its proper position in time, so when the other two were returned, that never actually happened.

He will probably appear in GotG 3, Thor 4 or whatever.

>I was really curious what happened with that. Where did Look go with it? Was that one just lost forever?

It should be in a divergent timeline now.

I think Cap went back to the 40's and Peggy before returning the stones. He lived a full life there until Peggy passed away, and we honestly don't know what that life and world were like. It was an off shoot reality. After Peggy died, he returned the Stones, and went back to the Endgame present. Doesn't explain how he got on the bench, but I think works better as an explanation than he just lived low key in the MCU until the present.

Probably after Peggy died

The discussion I'm reading from people trying to make sense of the movie is more entertaining than watching it

Your graph doesn’t account for thanos and his armies dying

they should have made stan lee captain america at the end lol

I'm okay with cap living a life with Peggy in an alternate timeline then returning to their timeline, the problem is the movie never fucking explained that so instead we have to guess and fill in the gaps.

>Go back in time with Pym's machine
>Grab Nat and Tony minutes before they die
>Go back to present with them
Sadness solved, everybody is happy now

The Cap thing at the end really didn't make sense to me at all. They say that the butterfly effect doesn't exist but Cap is there after living his life in the past. The Russos should really address that because it ultimately makes or breaks the entire movie's logic

They're "duplicates", for lack of a better time. They're from a splinter timeline that ceased to exist but because they werent in it, they weren effected, nor do they carry any effect on the main timeline as a result.

So then what's the Loki tv show going to be about

Its apparently a prequel, like the Black Widow movie.

He came back to his og timeline when he was old.
I'm not sure what happened to the cap in the other timeline though.

That isnt what happened.

Maybe the time machine works off DBZ theory, and he used the time stone to put himself there?
I haven't seen the movie just a guess based off what I've heard.

How do you know?

Because the only time anyone in the entire movie returns to the present, they return on the time travel launchpad, and he didnt.

That clearly wasn't their intention though otherwise they would have shown him time travelling to the present. Clearly implied that he waited until he could hand the shield on that bench.

>the only time
only way, rather

makes sense

So is Loki alive?

its not a plot hole its intentional for sequels

You grab them and you create alternate timelines where those avengers don't have the stones. Not that this movie didn't already make a dozen nonsensical timelines.

Loki is gone, just like Gamora, Vision, Tony, etc...

>That doesnt matter, that stone never left its proper position in time, so when the other two were returned, that never actually happened.
But then why did they go to the 1970s if they could just have gone back to the beginning of the new york battle to try again? Also can you technically dupe infinite infinity gems by going to the past, taking one, then going further to the past and taking the same one again etc.?

No.

Because they only had enough Pym juice for a round trip. One to 2012, one back to 2023, but they fucked up so they had to go to 1970 to get more pym particles and also snatch the stone at another point in time. If they went back to 2012 again they wouldnt have been able to return.

No, he never got sucked into the soul stone, he died of "natural" causes.

It's a children's movie, it doesn't have to make sense

It implies that old cap was in the main MCU the entire time but kept hidden and didn't stop Hydra infiltration or 9/11 so everything remained exacttly the same. But it still creates the problem that in one universe Cap never comes back at from the quantum realm at all.

The "time travel" almost made sense until they last scene. It would have been better if Cap was forced to sacrifice himself and make a one way trip back in time. Then all the Avengers are sad since Cap is now gone too, but Strange or someone says he is doing okay in his new universe, cut to Cap and Peg dancing. That way Cap can right all the wrongs in that universe by stopping Hydra, saving Bucky from the Soviets, stopping Howard Stark from being murder, and using SHIELD to prepare Earth against galactic level threats. He could also become President and Make America Great Again in the 1980s.

So they can not only travel through time but also through timelines?

No.

Time travel works perfectly within the rules they explained until the cap scene. all the new timeline shit makes sense except cap being there at the end. Way to fucking ruin it

the alterante universe was a probable alternate uivers until the stones where returned to the original time stream.
the two timelines merged.

like the old 616 universe and Ultimate universe merged into one. but with time. The old cap was hidden fucking the big titty wife and dont care about hydra or 911. Not with those big titties at hand.

this kind of makes the most sense, they really should have explained why he didn't appear on the pad. That leaves a lot up to speculation and possible inconsistency

Oh yeah right
